  • I <3 her, her performance is the embodiment of "you need me, I don't need you"

  • Fantastic recording ,wish I had the whole concert on DVD

  • No racism here. Everyone from every race was having a good time in the audience. That's the way it was supposed to be back then. Rightly so. What a jewel!!! Love that bow.

  • one of the best videos ever..thank you!

  • Wow!!!!!! Great!!!!!

  • WOW

  • Stunning-totally captures the atmosphere. This is not X-Factor, thank God.

  • Clips like this are the reason I use youtube.

  • WOW!

i never saw this amazing singer or anything from 1958 with this kind of sharp filming! this is just amazing

  • A great song by a great singer.too bad in the film this is from they cut the song down a bit.

  • Wonderful! Dinah, Terry, and Urbie all swing, but what happened to the tempo? Max rushes rather badly, but doesn't ruin the performance.

  • Dinah Washington (vocals, vibes), Terry Gibbs (vibes), Urbie Green (trombone), Wynton Kelly (piano), Max Roach (drums), Don Elliott (mellophone), Paul West (bass). Composed by Gerald Marks & Seymour Simons.

  • Wonderful and rare piece of footage, thanks for this.... you edited in the extras so

beautifully- I love this and Dinah... I appreciate you so much!! Marcie* x

Another favourite & into my special ones by DW, TY~

  • wow !! seeing crowd footage this old is surreal. Its really like they are real people, almost like they are right here, and so many of them now are most likely dead. Its amazing seeing it like in such a real way rather than just faded photographs. Look at the fashions its so surreal i can almost imagine being there. And I've always loved dinah washington. The good always die young !!

  • Such beautiful recordings.

    This is made of awesome

  • WOW!!!!!! What a great LIVE performance, now this is what talent looks like. How utterly refreshing. And isn't it nice to see a female performer dressed like a lady and not like today's "entertainers" dressed like pole dancers and lip syncing everything. This was fabulous and thanks for posting it. :-)

  • @louiseb35 I'm a guy and even I agree! Jazz by a lady, nuff' said.

  • Merci beaucoup ! La vraie Reine du jazz.

  • My Mother Rosemarie and I love Dinah, then, now, and always.

  • A brief look in time when all these people were so much younger, and our country was a bit more diverse as far as culture goes. When young and old enjoyed the same music.

  • Dinah, we miss you...the best jazz singer ever. Salute from Brazil

  • great footage, beautiful song, marvellous singer

  • And yes Dinah's rendition of the very much popular "All of Me"

  • What fire! Wasn't she just sensational?! I'm 27 and she's been one of my favourite singers since I was in my late teens. Artistry that passes the test of time must be timeless. I think I can almost touch Dinah as she sings this. Fantastic! Thanks ever so much for posting.

  • WOW !!!

  • Are you kidding me?!?!?! Beauty! Beauty! What true beauty she gave to all of us! How wonderful she was and how lucky we are to be able to see this.

  • THE QUEEN indeed.

  • The great Max Roach on drums!

  • This is what I like to sing, Songs that my grandmother sang. I give tribute to her and try to introduce this generation to her generations "Beyonces" music.

  • Fun video, love the crowd footage, wish I could have been there.

  • Dinah sings here accompanied by Terry Gibbs vibes, Urbie Green tmb, Don Eliott mellophone, Newport Jazz Festival 6 July 1958. Three tracks from the festival on Mercury extended play 45 rpm disc. Great vocals by Miss D. Great vid thanks for posting

  • The Newport Jazz Festival 1958. She died way too soon.
