I liked it, but it sounds like a ruff cut. Not sure if the distortion was the desired affect. Coulda been this cheap headset. Keep the hits comin PR/CL....
It sounded alot better when he was doing it with his MPC. I think he should of kept that sample of strings through out the whole track. Hot song thought
Very very bad mix from the soundengineer! Hear the Beat where Pete is presenting it shortly. The same Beat there is bombing! This could be a bomb... But its only a granate =(
Yeah, I agreed, dude. Your stuffs are sickening to the soul. Your style is a blend of Dr. Dre and 2Pac. You should start selling asap otherwise they may copy your style.
As I listen to this dope track, volume up high, bass turned to all the way to the righhhhht, Pete rock is vib'n through my air waves. Makes me me think of the hip-hop of yesterday-what it was, what it could have been, and the crap that we have todayyy.
The Beat is meant to compliment the artist, thats why it sounds slightly different form the MPC version....Pete mentions that in the other video...it all depends on the artist spitting over the beat, you have to take in to account the artists voice, flow, speed and lyrics, and many other things in order to produce a great song...and that my friends is what separates good producers for great ones....the ability to mould beats around artists....Pete Rock, youre a legend bro...
You kids whining about the beat not sounding like the one in his mpc video, you need to read what "SammieIdris" was saying because he was right on the money.
Ok I am reading no responses. I do like OC because we went back and forth, hes alright. we just have different standards but the focus should be on C.L and Pete this track is tight.
umm yes he does come to his shows actually. You apparently dont like him so you wouldn't be at his shows now would you.. anyway, just because you lack an attention span and intelligence doesn't mean he rhymes about nothing. It just requires you to think which is part of the fun of the art instead of this radio rap that makes you fools not capable of following fresh styles because they tailor make it to stick in ur heads with no efrt. You say he sucks but he has more respect than you do for sure.
Write Aslong As You Want, You "Know" So "Much" But Yet, Still Don't Understand the Man, Enjoy The Music, Forget Seeing The Him, Stan.. (Not Trying To Rhyme) :/
thats exactly what people like about him, tha fact he raps about random shit and somehow makes it sound perfect going in and out of his flows, rhyming 4 different words and syllables in one line. dont hate on him, he even says himself he's a nut
tessiernyc shut the fuck up ur a bitch dogg no one likes you fuckin underground trash face it u got whack taste probably too many feelings and you probably dont bumb biggie and others such because you cant relate to them, go back to your room! look how much time you spent on the computer arguing back and forth with someone you dont know, go outside smoke a blunt holler at a g why are you trying so hard to change one mans opinion. OC TALK TO THIS NIGGkA IN A WEEK WHEN HE OFF HIS RAGGk
This convo is still goin?! haha too funny but ok lets go again, that dude started with me so I replied and yea I am from the hood and can relate Big is not impressive, there is much more clever lyricists all over the place so yea don't believe the hype. Think outside the box and the reason you think underground is lame is because you lack a firm grasp of the English language and therefore get lost in the translation. Until you figure those lyrics out plz dnt call urself a hip hop head okie? thx
lol nigga you a straight bitch lol i dont fuck with niggas cryin on their tracks but um yea check out TESSIERNYC page nigga got some bird favourites baby shit dance music baby boyyyyyy OKIE LMAO WTF IS AN OKIE* LMAO. bubble gum rap nigga ur soft and also nigga aint SUCKIN BIGGIE DICK lol dont you know i got 10 hoes for every season so shut ur trap tryin to real talk lol gbtd EAT A DICK BEEEEIAAAAAATCHHHHHHHH
I'd say that too, but AZ is underrated as fuck. NaS album is an instant classic on all levels, but that particular song by AZ too often goes unnoticed in my opinion. It deserves credit.
yes I am sure you are all too familiar with wack emcees as they are all in your itunes playlist. You came looking at my notes so you runnin ur yap when neither me or OC were talking to you. How corny is that, loser.
U talk too much.period.I was lookin at the comments, and saw u talkin' bs.U tryin to drop knowledge, actin like u the father of Hip-Hop and all.Who are you? The teacher? I'll listen to Krs instead. But now i've seen ur discussion with OCUSA and ur even dumber than i thought.Biggie hardly any good?? Crackpipe to Pookie! U need another hit!
By the way, you STILL haven't answered. Who did I name that's an R &B group? C'mon don't be a bitch and defend your statement that you made. It's ok, you can admit that you were incorrect and talked out your ass about someone you'd never heard of.
I bet you are waiting because you have no life but I had shit to do so your ass had to wait my son, don't rush your father ok. Now, some of the songs those artist put out were r&b style so yea some of it was r&b I didn't mention anything about "groups" english grammar...use it...
LOL, nice try. You've made about 5 different comments since I first called you out on your R&B comment. You were ducking it because you knew you were being exposed....period. You didn't know who Tanya Morgan, Little Brother, or Cunninlyguists are.....which would've been OK, but instead you fronted, like the corny motherfucker you are.
Nice cop out with "some of them made some R&B type tracks"....WOW. Just admit when you're wrong....not ONE R&B artist was named. Not one. Get a clue.
Wow you can count to 5. I wasn't ducking, I just didn't understand how stupid you can be for not realizing how many r&b style tracks some of those artist made. It all comes along with the mainstream tying to appeal to a larger audience but if it makes you feel like you are winning your battle with yourself then you can believe they never made any r&b style music but that doesn't make it true. You are the one copping out focusing on anything you can to redeem yourself from getting owned you noob
ANother COPOUT. You listed Mos Def in your original list.....the same Mos who sang over damn near an entire album! And he had that wack ass rock band on there....so is he a R&B artist or a rock artist?
The words you used were "rap and R&B artists"....I didn't name one R&B artist. Keep copping pleas and lying because you weren't up on everyone on my list instead of being an adult and admitting that. Clown. LOL at "noob". WHo the fuck calls someone a "noob"?? Nerd ass motherfucker.
I am calling you what you are a huge huge noob with a capital B. You don't understand even the basics of music so yea mainstream kids like you are ultra noobs.Yes, when an artists makes an r&b or rock style song, they are considered r&b and rock as well as hip-hop artist that is why they are "artists" it is callled being versatile and not being limited to one flow you ignominious peabrain. Yes Mos would consider himself rock as well as hip-hop you can't win with your holey socks ass theories
I'm not criticizing Mos for doing so. I was just pointing out that Mos did so to the cat I was arguing with. You'd have to read the whole discussion, otherwise you're seeing what I said out of context.
you are not a hip-hop head, you just listen to what is presented before you and have low standards without expecting more. You must have had some bad expreience getting owned by some underground kids or something becuase you have no idea that if you are very passionatte about a certain type of music and are deeply roooted in a scene then you are underground adn don't even realize it! lol, I don't know how you came up with that wacky definition of what underground is but you need to do your math
There's more hip hop in the shit I just dropped in the toilet, than in your whole body, fuckin herb. I listen to what is "presented before me"? The fuck'd you get that from? Yeah, all those rappers I named are really "presented" before everyone huh? Clown. You didn't even know who some of them were obviously, since you said I was naming R&B groups.
Herb just odesn't work for you homom sorry, you don't even know what underground means you think I expect you to know what hip-hop means? Get the fuck outta here you dont 'even know how to guage it with your commercial name drops. exactly they are presented before everyone so try thinking outside the box mainstream cornball
Commercial name drops? EPMD, Boot Camp, Little Brother, Tanya Morgan, Slum Village, DITC, Cunninlyguists, UNDERGROUND KINGZ.........these are commercial name drops? Or do they just have too much flavor and soul for your nerd ass?
If you were so into hip hop as you claim, you wouldn't call yourself an underground head. That's what 15 year olds who discovered hip hop on the internet do. I'm a HIP HOP HEAD. Biggie, Nas, Wu, Kast, Kane, Rakim, G RAP, KRS, Slick Rick, Redman, EPMD, De La, Tribe, DPG,Quik, Cube, Scarface, UGK, Ball and MJG, Pun, Little Brother, Slum Village, LOX, Tanya Morgan, The Roots, Pete and CL, AZ, Jay-Z, DITC, Boot Camp Clik, Wale, Busta, Com Sense, P.E., LL, Kanye, Mos,Cunninlyguists, Camp Lo,etc.
Your problem is that you have no idea what being underground is. Being underground is being involved with the heart of any given scene and being a part of not only the movement but contributing and shining light upon the innovations and the future of the culture. Mainstream on the other hand is the 15 year olds who find music on the internet (which by the way is the best source to find music f.y.i.) No scene would exist without the underground which is the heart of any scene.
Its like you want to believe so badly that underground is some self fulfilling prophecy for upstarts but I have been into the scene 7 years before you and you aren't making sense no matter how hard you try. Try growing a little instead of guarding your pride. Mainstream was always the same from 94 till now. You are like some sort of idiot to think you know anything about 1994 dude you were 8 years old so just shut the fuck up with your backwards ass logic you dochebag
SUck my dick. You don't know how old I am. Mainstream was NOT the same in 94 you idiot. You hear much G Funk on the radio these days? There was more variety. You could turn on the radio and hear Naughty, BIG, Snoop, Digable Planets, Warren G, Tribe, 2Pac, Heavy D, Salt N Pepa, Coolio, Keith Murray, Outkast, 69 Boyz. -not saying it was all dope, but a bigger % was and there was more variety in what got played.
Getting frustrated and trying to go the age route, even though that's not my age - herb.
Your profile says you are 23 years old and I am not gay like you so sorry to disappoint you but no, I do not wish to suck your "dick" and if that is not your age then stop pretending to be young. Are you some sort of pedophile or something? All those bands are hip-hop and r&b so whats your point? There is not much difference between them except for Digable Planets which is only one. You can't pull off herb when you are getting owned like this so stop trying, you are embarrassing yourself
First, I obviously just typed in a year without paying it any mind. I don't give my real info out unless I have to. I'm not "pretending" to be anything. I didn't even realize that my profile said that, and I don't care either. Second, I didn't name ONE R&B singer or group. Not one. LOL at "not much difference between them".....yeah DJ Quik and Public Enemy are a lot alike. Wu-Tang and Little Brother got a lot in common huh? The only way all named are alike is they're all dope unlike Aesop.
Aesop has more respect from your "idols" then you will ever have so your word holds less weight then a feather compared to him. So you'll excuse me if I take that opinion with a grain of salt. Noone sounds the same in the context you are trying to portray but yes they are still all the same sounding for their respective coasts so whats your point?
Word? Nas and Redman rhyme about the same things? Little Brother and Scarface rap about the same things? Ice Cube and Kurupt rap about the same things? Rakim and Kool G Rap? Black Moon and Camp Lo? OC and Biggie? Kast and 8 Ball and MJG? Word?
CLUELESS. Get your weight up.
Guess you aren't really listening. What I think is you're just labeling again and assuming that anyone that doesn't fit in your little box of what "real hip hop is" is just all rhyming about the same things.
yea they do lil man they do. Do you need a rap dictionary or something? Yea Nas also rhymes intellligent too but he also rhymes gangsta. Camp Lo rhymes about the same shit as Black Moon just with a different flow. 8 Ball and MJG are not hip-hop to me they are bubblegum rap. You are labeling again by saying underground is something it isn't. You follow mainstream like an underground fan lol funny shit but if you had a point, it was lost like 20 messages ago you fucktard
Nas rhymes "intelligent too but also gangsta"??? You really just said that? Holy shit, you might be the biggest nerd alive. Still labeling shit, I see. So Redman rhymes "gangsta" too? LMAO!!! Ain't SHIT in common between Nas and Redman, other than they both are nice with it.
Camp Lo rhymes about the same shit as Black Moon??? WHAT??? Camp Lo got some of the most distinctive lyrics/slang/content EVER, while Black Moon is straightforward as hell. Different flow?
If what you spewed made any sense, I would be able to respond but I can't figure out where you got the idea that Redman doesn't kick gangsta shit and Camp lo doesn't kick gangsta shit. You explain how camp lo and Black moon have different flows even though I already said that they did, but then you continue to contradict yourself by asking different flow? You literally answered your own question man you just got off the short bus, if you want to have a convo with me focus and think before typing
No, I'm questioning you saying the only difference between Black Moon and Camp Lo is the flow. Are you kidding? The difference is the content/lyrical style/slang/delivery....nothing alike. Camp Lo's content is a LOT lighter. Apparantly "gangsta shit" to you is anything that includes any kind of profanity or violence, not shit that ACTUALLY is discussing GANGSTA SHIT. BG Knoccout = gangsta shit. Redman = not gangsta shit. LOL at Redman and Nas rapping about the same things. You don't listen.
Camp Lo is very gangsta. Even though they disguise it using creative slang lyrics like "luccini" e.t.c . I guess you got so caught up in their fast flow, you never broke down the words themselves for what they were but that is very common most people never realize that so I m not surprised that you are on of them and as far as Redman not being gangsta....I am not even going to touch that one but you better hope Redman never finds you, he would pistol whip you for saying that he isn't gangsta
There you go arguing with yourself again and making pretend conversations that never happened because I never said Redman and Nas are the same. You really like looking at yourself type all day hehe.
Gangsta is not intelligent even though you might believe otherwise. Gangsta is out of necessity but noone would be thugging if they had a proper education. Some lyrics Nas has are gangsta and some are intelligent on some contemplative shit what are you illiterate or something? I never said Nas was common with Redman and I never said he wasn't. It would help if you had a point instead of trying to make up pretend arguments with people and actually have a point it looks like youre arguing w urself
You are an IDIOT. You sound like a 55 year old white man who doesn't understand hip hop, and labels anything with profanity as "gangsta". Nas music, particularly in the 5-6 years, should hardly be described as "gangsta".
But no matter....you're backing away from your earlier statements about SKILLS, and focusing on labeling things "gangsta" and "intelligent". Kweli curses and raps about guns at times...he "gangsta"? LOL. It's about SKILLS. Go listen to your nerd shit.
You thinks caps lock makes you have any point? Sorry, kid big people don't type like that and not only do you not have a point in the conversation but you know you are wrong so you pretend I said things I never said and twist things around to make yourself feel better and yes Nas sometimes rhymes about holding pistols and other gangta shit and sometimes he rhymes intellligent, you need people to repeat things over and over you are in special ed or something
If you were into skills you would be underground and would never think Big is the greatest. The boy was nice but he wasn't sick point blank and by the way go buy a dictionary your definition of everything is backwards including the word nerd. Nerds rule they are way more intelligent than you they run shit they are bosses and way more researched than special ed cases like you who needs people to repeat themselves for your illiterate ass and women dig Nerds Nas is a nerd Pharell too
The reason mainstream tends to be watered down is to appeal to a broader spectrum fanbase, they tend to be more general and less unique with easy to get into your head hooks staying in the safe zone but it doesn't leave room for pushing the envelope. To get a deal these days you need to fit a certain demographic instead of straight being better lyrically. I wish Gza would come out with another album *sighs*
I agree with what you say about these days, what's that got to do with BIG? And what does Mainstream in 2009 have to do with mainstream in 1994-95? It's a different ballgame. Back then dope rappers like BIG could still get radio play.
BIG WAS the blueprint, he wasn't following shit. Name an East Coast album that sounded like Ready To Die: if you can, they all came out AFTER Ready to Die.
GZA's one of the all time greats. Last I heard from him was his 50 Cent diss which was disappointing.
I never said anything has to do with Big. I just said he is highly overrated because his skill category is not up there with Del, Mf Doom, Joel Ortiz, or Big Pun. There is a line in a track on Prodigy's H.N.I.C that says "Your pain is impure, you crying cause you're broke from the Pjs, that ain't pain, thats emotion, you a bitch you just complain cause you stressed, my pain is in the flesh" Big wan't even from the Pjs but he was complaining. Now I did like Ready To Die but it was nothing special
lol, thinkin u da the shit cuz u a fan of the underground has fucked ya brain...im not sayin big was the best...but he sure as hell shits on del, mf doom, joell ortiz and big pun....nigga wtf?...get a grip, take a deep breath and realise u suckin too much underground dick....lol@thinkin that aesop can fuck wit dudes like mos def, jeru or nas....fuck outta here
I hear you but the difference is that mainstream talks about solely on what's relevant and mostly on bullshit topics of Hoes and Drugs while the underground scene focuses on a much more diverse sense.(MF Doom Sucks I just felt like saying that) So it's not about who's better just the difference in what is said.
no doubt..i strictly listen to underground hiphop and the classics nowadayz....but u wont see me thinkin im better then ppl jus cuz i do so....or claimin mf doom or del are better then bigg or nas jus cuz they're underground...thats lunacy....
umm, Jeru and mos are underground so b4 u talk about me get your categories in order, if you knew the difference between underground and commercial you wouldn't be impressed by big, they are totally different as far as intelligence in lyrics and delivery, if you like bubble gum rap then do you but I dont think I am better than anyone. I just think that you are the one suckin biggies dick thinkin he is so hot just because the radio plays him. It just is not clever enough period hate if u like
Big always got radio play duh you couldn't turn the radio on without hearing him on the radio. I can name a few albums that sounded better than Ready To Die and way too many that sounded like it. It doesn't need ot be restricted to a specific coast. Music is music no matter where it is from. You wre 8 years old in 1994 so don't even attempt to talk about what mainstream was in 1994 ok fucktard.
Yeah, BIG got radio play...no shit. I didn't ask what albums sounded better than RTD...there are plenty of albums I like better than it. The point is, it was the first East Coast album to really sound like that.....and the coast thing WAS important because hip hop was a lot more regionalized back then. I was NOT 8 years old in 94, dickhead, I was much older than that. I didn't put my real birthday in my profile.
Joel was just an example anyway, there are others that can do better than Big. Del - Jaw Gymnastics and Del - Stay On Your Toes can crush anything Big did point blank. You are impressed by "unbelievable"? *rolling bumpin Mf doom ft.Kool Keith - Doper Skiller*
you dont have to be mainstream to have success and being underground means pushing the envelope instead of staying in the safe zone of what the distribution dealers think is marketable. Underground is doing it for the love of doing it, not over some superiority complex of being "deep" you are paranoid dude and way confused. Zev love X evolved, not created a gimmick, see, underground heads don't stay the same like Biggie, they update and innovate styles, you are so lost just forget it you retard
and how you figure we shit on anyone with mainstream success? like I said before Big was cool but saying he is overrated is far from shitting on him, I just think kids today over rate him because they are too complacent listening to your bland rap. "supposedly deep"?? you aren't talking to some jack in the box kid, those stereotypes won't work here, if you don't think any of the listed artists are deep...I am insulting myself by even talking to a noob who needs a rap dictionary
By the way, what part of any of the Doom songs I listed are "Alright" because you should try listening to them before saying Biggie is above average and you are just hating Joel because you aren't spanish but check some of his freestyles on youtube and tell me Biggie can hang with that, not in this lifetime... when Big was freestyeling, he never came off like that, Big is cool but like I said in the beginning waaaay over rated
I thought about it and honestly, there is really way too much to quote and it doesn't stop there even the beats these cats make are way innovative and pushing the envelope different and beyond anything the mainstream is doing..the sound of the future.. namely you can check Mf Doom - Doomsday, Danger Doom - Korndogz, MF Doom - Rhinestone Cowboy, Del - Press Rewind, Aesop Rock - 5 fingers, any Joel Ortiz freestyle, listen to those and tell me Biggie is anything more than average, nigga please....
I know Doom - he's cool but he ain't that dope. He was just another rapper as Zev Love X. Throw a mask on and get weirder, and suddenly you're Rakim to these underground heads. He had the worst performance on the newest Dilla album. My favorite rapper of the last 10 years is Phonte. Elzhi, Royce, Cunninlynguists, Black Milk are some of my favorite current shit. Aesop Rock, Del: they aren't for everyone. Your elitist tastes are just that: tastes. No better than mine. *Bumps Unbelievable*
You don't know Doom, stop faking jacks. Anyone who listens to his lyrics know he is cunning with his content and delivery, no mater who has an opinion, skill is skill and he has it, Aesop isn't for everyone but Del, come on, the Gorillaz would never have become poopular if not for him so your poorly constructed theory crumbles right there. He is not a weird guy with a mask, he is the "only" guy with a mask stop making it like everyone is doing it
I DO know Doom. I can use your logic and say "anyone who listens to Biggie's lyrics knows he is cunning with his content and delivery, no matter who has an opinion, skill is skill and he has it".
LOL at Doom being better than Biggie, and then you getting all snooty and uppity towards anyone who disagrees, like you're some all knowing hip hop guru. I guess pretentious-ass corny rappers tend to appeal to pretentious-ass corny fans like you.
I already told you, the day you can actually quote something from biggie that is tighter than Joel, we can have that conversation but as far as hip-hop guru, naa man I am just more open minded than you to multiple styles and appreciating them for what they are, I already said Biggie was good, he just wasn't much different than any other commercial rapper, it isn't my opinion that is true fact dude deal with it. As far as "pretentious" now I know for sure you never heard Dooms shit.... ce la vie
Biggie was commercial? Not really, that was all Puff. His first album had maybe 2-3 type of "commercial" tracks, and they were tight. His 2nd album had a few more than that. "not much different than any other commercial rapper". you really got shit twisted.
I'm not giving you a Biggie "quote". This ain't about "quotes" or "punchlines". It's MUSIC. Meaning it's supposed to SOUND good too. Biggie had lyrics, but what set him apart was the FLOW. Your OPINION is not FACT, "dude", deal with it.
Yes he was very commercial, it wasn't all Puff and if it was, then he watered down his lyrics which isn't fair to the fans or the culture and if you want to compare flow..well, shit man Big Pun owned him anyday on that one and all you do is copy me anyway repeating what I say because you are caught up and you aren't giving me any quote because you can't find any and it is about content more than flow. you can flow nice as hell but if the content is crap, then you are spewing crap
Biggie never watered down his lyrics...only thing commercial about some of his tracks was the beats. I can tell you've got this "underground = good", "commercial = bad" mentality......again, that played out in 99 for most. Dope is dope, miss me with that labeling BS. Big Pun owned him on flow? HELL no. He had no breathe control, which hurt his flow. Pun might have got him on the lyrics....it was close. Flow, voice, and delivery went to BIG. Capital Punishment was a hell of an album tho.
I can tell you don't know how to read like when I said A Plus and Casual are underground and I do not think they are good or when I said that Big is good albeit average but good nonetheless. No breathe control?! Maybe you should play capital Punishment a few more times. Yes Big had commercial gangsta rap lyrics that was saying the same stuff as everyone else in the mainstream except with different delivery style, the only cats who were that gangsta style and not commercial was Mobb Deep & M.O.P.
CL Smooth has one of the best flows in rap history and it sounds effortless.

MikeLove91 2 years ago
umm yes he does come to his shows actually.

By the way, you STILL haven't answered. Who did I name that's an R &B group? C'mon don't be a bitch and defend your statement that you made. It's ok, you can admit that you were incorrect and talked out your ass about someone you'd never heard of.
OCUSA 2 years ago
I bet you are waiting because you have no life but I had shit to do so your ass had to wait my son, don't rush your father ok. Now, some of the songs those artist put out were r&b style so yea some of it was r&b I didn't mention anything about "groups" english grammar...use it...
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
LOL, nice try. You've made about 5 different comments since I first called you out on your R&B comment. You were ducking it because you knew you were being exposed....period. You didn't know who Tanya Morgan, Little Brother, or Cunninlyguists are.....which would've been OK, but instead you fronted, like the corny motherfucker you are.
Nice cop out with "some of them made some R&B type tracks"....WOW. Just admit when you're wrong....not ONE R&B artist was named. Not one. Get a clue.
OCUSA 2 years ago
Wow you can count to 5. I wasn't ducking, I just didn't understand how stupid you can be for not realizing how many r&b style tracks some of those artist made. It all comes along with the mainstream tying to appeal to a larger audience but if it makes you feel like you are winning your battle with yourself then you can believe they never made any r&b style music but that doesn't make it true. You are the one copping out focusing on anything you can to redeem yourself from getting owned you noob
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
ANother COPOUT. You listed Mos Def in your original list.....the same Mos who sang over damn near an entire album! And he had that wack ass rock band on there....so is he a R&B artist or a rock artist?
The words you used were "rap and R&B artists"....I didn't name one R&B artist. Keep copping pleas and lying because you weren't up on everyone on my list instead of being an adult and admitting that. Clown. LOL at "noob". WHo the fuck calls someone a "noob"?? Nerd ass motherfucker.
OCUSA 2 years ago
I am calling you what you are a huge huge noob with a capital B. You don't understand even the basics of music so yea mainstream kids like you are ultra noobs.Yes, when an artists makes an r&b or rock style song, they are considered r&b and rock as well as hip-hop artist that is why they are "artists" it is callled being versatile and not being limited to one flow you ignominious peabrain. Yes Mos would consider himself rock as well as hip-hop you can't win with your holey socks ass theories
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
he's just an artist.
why should he be confined to one genre.
he's free to do whatever the fuck he wants..
genesis73 2 years ago
I'm not criticizing Mos for doing so. I was just pointing out that Mos did so to the cat I was arguing with. You'd have to read the whole discussion, otherwise you're seeing what I said out of context.
OCUSA 2 years ago
you are not a hip-hop head, you just listen to what is presented before you and have low standards without expecting more.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
There's more hip hop in the shit I just dropped in the toilet, than in your whole body, fuckin herb. I listen to what is "presented before me"? The fuck'd you get that from? Yeah, all those rappers I named are really "presented" before everyone huh? Clown. You didn't even know who some of them were obviously, since you said I was naming R&B groups.
OCUSA 2 years ago
Herb just odesn't work for you homom sorry, you don't even know what underground means you think I expect you to know what hip-hop means? Get the fuck outta here you dont 'even know how to guage it with your commercial name drops. exactly they are presented before everyone so try thinking outside the box mainstream cornball
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
Commercial name drops? EPMD, Boot Camp, Little Brother, Tanya Morgan, Slum Village, DITC, Cunninlyguists, UNDERGROUND KINGZ.........these are commercial name drops? Or do they just have too much flavor and soul for your nerd ass?
OCUSA 2 years ago
OCUSA 2 years ago
Your problem is that you have no idea what being underground is. Being underground is being involved with the heart of any given scene and being a part of not only the movement but contributing and shining light upon the innovations and the future of the culture. Mainstream on the other hand is the 15 year olds who find music on the internet (which by the way is the best source to find music f.y.i.) No scene would exist without the underground which is the heart of any scene.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
Its like you want to believe so badly that underground is some self fulfilling prophecy for upstarts but I have been into the scene 7 years before you and you aren't making sense no matter how hard you try. Try growing a little instead of guarding your pride. Mainstream was always the same from 94 till now. You are like some sort of idiot to think you know anything about 1994 dude you were 8 years old so just shut the fuck up with your backwards ass logic you dochebag
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
OCUSA 2 years ago
Your profile says you are 23 years old and I am not gay like you so sorry to disappoint you but no, I do not wish to suck your "dick" and if that is not your age then stop pretending to be young. Are you some sort of pedophile or something? All those bands are hip-hop and r&b so whats your point? There is not much difference between them except for Digable Planets which is only one. You can't pull off herb when you are getting owned like this so stop trying, you are embarrassing yourself
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
First, I obviously just typed in a year without paying it any mind. I don't give my real info out unless I have to. I'm not "pretending" to be anything. I didn't even realize that my profile said that, and I don't care either. Second, I didn't name ONE R&B singer or group. Not one. LOL at "not much difference between them".....yeah DJ Quik and Public Enemy are a lot alike. Wu-Tang and Little Brother got a lot in common huh? The only way all named are alike is they're all dope unlike Aesop.
OCUSA 2 years ago
Aesop has more respect from your "idols" then you will ever have so your word holds less weight then a feather compared to him. So you'll excuse me if I take that opinion with a grain of salt. Noone sounds the same in the context you are trying to portray but yes they are still all the same sounding for their respective coasts so whats your point?
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
For respective coasts? Word? So Black Moon sounded like EPMD? Nas sounds like Redman? Get a CLUE.
BTW, I'm curious. Who did I name that's "R&B"? Huh? You made the comment, now back it up.
OCUSA 2 years ago
ok ,here is a clue if you really need one...Noone has the same sound but they do rhyme about the same things which is what I was referring to.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
OCUSA 2 years ago
yea they do lil man they do.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
Nas rhymes "intelligent too but also gangsta"??? You really just said that? Holy shit, you might be the biggest nerd alive. Still labeling shit, I see. So Redman rhymes "gangsta" too? LMAO!!! Ain't SHIT in common between Nas and Redman, other than they both are nice with it.
Camp Lo rhymes about the same shit as Black Moon??? WHAT??? Camp Lo got some of the most distinctive lyrics/slang/content EVER, while Black Moon is straightforward as hell. Different flow?
You know NOTHING!
OCUSA 2 years ago
If what you spewed made any sense, I would be able to respond but I can't figure out where you got the idea that Redman doesn't kick gangsta shit and Camp lo doesn't kick gangsta shit. You explain how camp lo and Black moon have different flows even though I already said that they did, but then you continue to contradict yourself by asking different flow? You literally answered your own question man you just got off the short bus, if you want to have a convo with me focus and think before typing
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
No, I'm questioning you saying the only difference between Black Moon and Camp Lo is the flow. Are you kidding? The difference is the content/lyrical style/slang/delivery....nothing alike. Camp Lo's content is a LOT lighter. Apparantly "gangsta shit" to you is anything that includes any kind of profanity or violence, not shit that ACTUALLY is discussing GANGSTA SHIT. BG Knoccout = gangsta shit. Redman = not gangsta shit. LOL at Redman and Nas rapping about the same things. You don't listen.
OCUSA 2 years ago
Camp Lo is very gangsta. Even though they disguise it using creative slang lyrics like "luccini" e.t.c . I guess you got so caught up in their fast flow, you never broke down the words themselves for what they were but that is very common most people never realize that so I m not surprised that you are on of them and as far as Redman not being gangsta....I am not even going to touch that one but you better hope Redman never finds you, he would pistol whip you for saying that he isn't gangsta
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
There you go arguing with yourself again and making pretend conversations that never happened because I never said Redman and Nas are the same. You really like looking at yourself type all day hehe.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
Gangsta is not intelligent even though you might believe otherwise. Gangsta is out of necessity but noone would be thugging if they had a proper education. Some lyrics Nas has are gangsta and some are intelligent on some contemplative shit what are you illiterate or something? I never said Nas was common with Redman and I never said he wasn't. It would help if you had a point instead of trying to make up pretend arguments with people and actually have a point it looks like youre arguing w urself
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
You are an IDIOT. You sound like a 55 year old white man who doesn't understand hip hop, and labels anything with profanity as "gangsta". Nas music, particularly in the 5-6 years, should hardly be described as "gangsta".
But no matter....you're backing away from your earlier statements about SKILLS, and focusing on labeling things "gangsta" and "intelligent". Kweli curses and raps about guns at times...he "gangsta"? LOL. It's about SKILLS. Go listen to your nerd shit.
OCUSA 2 years ago
You thinks caps lock makes you have any point? Sorry, kid big people don't type like that and not only do you not have a point in the conversation but you know you are wrong so you pretend I said things I never said and twist things around to make yourself feel better and yes Nas sometimes rhymes about holding pistols and other gangta shit and sometimes he rhymes intellligent, you need people to repeat things over and over you are in special ed or something
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
If you were into skills you would be underground and would never think Big is the greatest. The boy was nice but he wasn't sick point blank and by the way go buy a dictionary your definition of everything is backwards including the word nerd. Nerds rule they are way more intelligent than you they run shit they are bosses and way more researched than special ed cases like you who needs people to repeat themselves for your illiterate ass and women dig Nerds Nas is a nerd Pharell too
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
The reason mainstream tends to be watered down is to appeal to a broader spectrum fanbase, they tend to be more general and less unique with easy to get into your head hooks staying in the safe zone but it doesn't leave room for pushing the envelope. To get a deal these days you need to fit a certain demographic instead of straight being better lyrically. I wish Gza would come out with another album *sighs*
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
I agree with what you say about these days, what's that got to do with BIG? And what does Mainstream in 2009 have to do with mainstream in 1994-95? It's a different ballgame. Back then dope rappers like BIG could still get radio play.
BIG WAS the blueprint, he wasn't following shit. Name an East Coast album that sounded like Ready To Die: if you can, they all came out AFTER Ready to Die.
GZA's one of the all time greats. Last I heard from him was his 50 Cent diss which was disappointing.
OCUSA 2 years ago
I never said anything has to do with Big. I just said he is highly overrated because his skill category is not up there with Del, Mf Doom, Joel Ortiz, or Big Pun. There is a line in a track on Prodigy's H.N.I.C that says "Your pain is impure, you crying cause you're broke from the Pjs, that ain't pain, thats emotion, you a bitch you just complain cause you stressed, my pain is in the flesh" Big wan't even from the Pjs but he was complaining. Now I did like Ready To Die but it was nothing special
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
lol, thinkin u da the shit cuz u a fan of the underground has fucked ya brain...im not sayin big was the best...but he sure as hell shits on del, mf doom, joell ortiz and big pun....nigga wtf?...get a grip, take a deep breath and realise u suckin too much underground dick....lol@thinkin that aesop can fuck wit dudes like mos def, jeru or nas....fuck outta here
nemesis700 2 years ago
I hear you but the difference is that mainstream talks about solely on what's relevant and mostly on bullshit topics of Hoes and Drugs while the underground scene focuses on a much more diverse sense.(MF Doom Sucks I just felt like saying that) So it's not about who's better just the difference in what is said.
JonCrasH 2 years ago
no doubt..i strictly listen to underground hiphop and the classics nowadayz....but u wont see me thinkin im better then ppl jus cuz i do so....or claimin mf doom or del are better then bigg or nas jus cuz they're underground...thats lunacy....
nemesis700 2 years ago 3
I agree people cross the line with that bullshit.
JonCrasH 2 years ago
umm, Jeru and mos are underground so b4 u talk about me get your categories in order, if you knew the difference between underground and commercial you wouldn't be impressed by big, they are totally different as far as intelligence in lyrics and delivery, if you like bubble gum rap then do you but I dont think I am better than anyone. I just think that you are the one suckin biggies dick thinkin he is so hot just because the radio plays him. It just is not clever enough period hate if u like
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
go fuck yourself
nemesis700 2 years ago
Big always got radio play duh you couldn't turn the radio on without hearing him on the radio. I can name a few albums that sounded better than Ready To Die and way too many that sounded like it. It doesn't need ot be restricted to a specific coast. Music is music no matter where it is from. You wre 8 years old in 1994 so don't even attempt to talk about what mainstream was in 1994 ok fucktard.
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
Yeah, BIG got radio play...no shit. I didn't ask what albums sounded better than RTD...there are plenty of albums I like better than it. The point is, it was the first East Coast album to really sound like that.....and the coast thing WAS important because hip hop was a lot more regionalized back then. I was NOT 8 years old in 94, dickhead, I was much older than that. I didn't put my real birthday in my profile.
OCUSA 2 years ago
Joel was just an example anyway, there are others that can do better than Big. Del - Jaw Gymnastics and Del - Stay On Your Toes can crush anything Big did point blank. You are impressed by "unbelievable"? *rolling bumpin Mf doom ft.Kool Keith - Doper Skiller*
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
You AREN'T impressed by Unbelievable?
We have nothing more to talk about then.
OCUSA 2 years ago
you dont have to be mainstream to have success and being underground means pushing the envelope instead of staying in the safe zone of what the distribution dealers think is marketable. Underground is doing it for the love of doing it, not over some superiority complex of being "deep" you are paranoid dude and way confused. Zev love X evolved, not created a gimmick, see, underground heads don't stay the same like Biggie, they update and innovate styles, you are so lost just forget it you retard
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
and how you figure we shit on anyone with mainstream success? like I said before Big was cool but saying he is overrated is far from shitting on him, I just think kids today over rate him because they are too complacent listening to your bland rap. "supposedly deep"?? you aren't talking to some jack in the box kid, those stereotypes won't work here, if you don't think any of the listed artists are deep...I am insulting myself by even talking to a noob who needs a rap dictionary
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
By the way, what part of any of the Doom songs I listed are "Alright" because you should try listening to them before saying Biggie is above average and you are just hating Joel because you aren't spanish but check some of his freestyles on youtube and tell me Biggie can hang with that, not in this lifetime... when Big was freestyeling, he never came off like that, Big is cool but like I said in the beginning waaaay over rated
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
SON!!! Joel Ortiz freestyles are better than Biggie's best rhymes? Word? I'm rolling here.
OCUSA 2 years ago
I thought about it and honestly, there is really way too much to quote and it doesn't stop there even the beats these cats make are way innovative and pushing the envelope different and beyond anything the mainstream is doing..the sound of the future.. namely you can check Mf Doom - Doomsday, Danger Doom - Korndogz, MF Doom - Rhinestone Cowboy, Del - Press Rewind, Aesop Rock - 5 fingers, any Joel Ortiz freestyle, listen to those and tell me Biggie is anything more than average, nigga please....
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
I know Doom - he's cool but he ain't that dope. He was just another rapper as Zev Love X. Throw a mask on and get weirder, and suddenly you're Rakim to these underground heads. He had the worst performance on the newest Dilla album. My favorite rapper of the last 10 years is Phonte. Elzhi, Royce, Cunninlynguists, Black Milk are some of my favorite current shit. Aesop Rock, Del: they aren't for everyone. Your elitist tastes are just that: tastes. No better than mine. *Bumps Unbelievable*
OCUSA 2 years ago
You don't know Doom, stop faking jacks. Anyone who listens to his lyrics know he is cunning with his content and delivery, no mater who has an opinion, skill is skill and he has it, Aesop isn't for everyone but Del, come on, the Gorillaz would never have become poopular if not for him so your poorly constructed theory crumbles right there. He is not a weird guy with a mask, he is the "only" guy with a mask stop making it like everyone is doing it
Tessiernyc 2 years ago
I DO know Doom. I can use your logic and say "anyone who listens to Biggie's lyrics knows he is cunning with his content and delivery, no matter who has an opinion, skill is skill and he has it".
LOL at Doom being better than Biggie, and then you getting all snooty and uppity towards anyone who disagrees, like you're some all knowing hip hop guru. I guess pretentious-ass corny rappers tend to appeal to pretentious-ass corny fans like you.
OCUSA 2 years ago
