I like turn based games but honestly I wish a lot of them would just switch to realtime gameplay with some level of strategy incorperated, because a lot of games seem to want to have realtime style combat,but as turns. For instance, FFX. It's not like you're playing chess. There's barely any strategy - the game is just taking turns doing brute force. It would've been less patience trying if it was in realtime.

@iReJeCt094 this game brought back the old school elements of RPGs that everyone loved. Well i know I did and i'm sure I'm not the only one. As with Final Fantasy they have been taking everything that made FF what it is and revamping it. If comparing this game to FFXII, this game is definitely better. but the old FF still take the cake, even though this one is close. this game reminds me of Final Fantasy X, blue dragon, and Legend of Dragoon all rolled into one. Great game 10/10 stars
The "father" of final fantasy, who no longer works for square, worked on this, and also the music composer of final fantasy 1-10 did the entire soundtrack of this game.
This is really an amazing game. Hironobu Sakaguchi should definately make more entries in this series cause it rivals some of the final fantasy entries.

Never, at any point during this game did I connect the Kaim I read about in 1000 year memories to the character I was playing as. This was dull and ultimately archaic RPG. Which would be okay if it had a damn story but it doesn't. 6.9/10

True that, the game is good but that aspect of the game sorta pisses me off too. There should be no game over if he's immortal, I mean in the beginning of the game he gets crushed by a meteor and jumps back up seconds later, why cant he do that during the couse of the game, If he does die during a battle and you survive for a couple of turns, he'll come back. But shoudn't he be just an immortal badass that could never die/pass out. Simply, THERE SHOULD BE NO GAME OVE IF HE'S FREAKIN IMMORTAL!!
Him never dieing is a major part of the story. If you take everything so technically then RPGs would never get anywhere, be realistic. Not being killed in the game isnt so he can survive for the sake of life, its so that he can continue his journey while keeping his comrades safe.
The immortals revived when KOed automatically after a few turns. If they weren't immortal, then there wouldn't be my favorite part of this game: the beautiful, well written "A Thousand Years of Dreams" that adds so much depth to the characters of this game. I love this game, probably one of the most underrated games ever. In Final Fantasy 10, Auron is already dead, yet he "died" in battles. Tidus was a dream of the fayth that "died" as well in battle.

Damn, this game alone makes me want to purchause Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Final Fantasy 7 is still to this date the best and most emotional game I have ever played. I am looking for a similar experience or even a better one, this game seems to have the spirit of FF 7. Maybe not so strange as some of the makers who made Lost Odyssey also worked on Square Enix with the previous FF games. Gamemusic made by Nobuo Uematsu is great as usual :D

Definitely. If you are a fan of RPG's, you should love it. I won't lie, it's VERY traditional - completely turn-based, random battles, can be quite challenging at times, but that's what I LOVE about it - if you are a fan of the FF series, give it a try, you should like it.
Agreed. Even moreso if your a fan of the Original (and imo, Best) Final Fantasys. And Yeah, it does get hard, Espically toward the end when your going after the hidden bosses (Which you need to be about level 99 to kill fairly easily)
That's actually quite young, it sucks when they're too young because those kind of RPGs tend to turn out too kiddie or just made for teenagers...that's why I prefer Final Fantasy and more "serious" jRPGs.
Kinda like the entire cast of FFVII foreward. Everyone just seemed way too young for my tastes, That, And I got tired of Sephiroth going around crying about how his momma never loved him or some stupid crap like that.

okay, so what's the threat? Even if I was immortal and got curb stomped and didn't die, I would be okay with it once my jaw heals.
Everything else about the story is great, but making a game character immortal was one of Hirunobu Sakaguchi's worst design choices ever.
The never dying concept only worked in prince of persia, because elika could use magic to save you, so no prob, but here it's just like a joke.

It's a good system, I wouldn't call it the best. Im a PS3 man lol. But I do play my cousin's 360 when I chill with him, he and I hit up some Gears of War and Halo 3.

Kind of, there is a world map, but you can only travel in it by air or by sea, then when you reach land you pick from a list where you wanna go to!

Definitely. If you are a fan of RPG's, you should love it. I won't lie, it's VERY traditional - completely turn-based, random battles, can be quite challenging at times, but that's what I LOVE about it - if you are a fan of the FF series, give it a try, you should like it.

Agreed. Even moreso if your a fan of the Original (and imo, Best) Final Fantasys. And Yeah, it does get hard, Espically toward the end when your going after the hidden bosses (Which you need to be about level 99 to kill fairly easily)

That's actually quite young, it sucks when they're too young because those kind of RPGs tend to turn out too kiddie or just made for teenagers...that's why I prefer Final Fantasy and more "serious" jRPGs.

Kinda like the entire cast of FFVII foreward. Everyone just seemed way too young for my tastes, That, And I got tired of Sephiroth going around crying about how his momma never loved him or some stupid crap like that.
Seriously though, the only characters I've liked from 7 onwards were Barret, Cid, Coral, and Auron.

Actually, As much as I like the story of MGS, I'd rather sit and PLAY a game than just move from screen to screen watching a bunch of FMV's that tell the story instead of allowing me to interact within it.

never played lost odyssey then i guess.... and you are insulting final fantasy also with this because the makers of final fantasy made this game.... and tbh i like this game alot... it makes me forget ffx and ffx-2 when i sold my ps2.... but 1 good thing!!!
FF 13 IS GOING 360!!!!!!!!! i am so happy with that :D now the 360 doesnt have any downsizes anymore on game variety.
We did had ff 11 but tbh.... i play final fantasy games (and also lost odyssey) for the story line.. and the gameplay

Im Almost Finished The 4th Disk, Ive Played For About 35 Hours, The Game Isnt Hard, A Few Boss Battles Are, But Just Grind Out A Few More Levels And You Will Breeze Through The Game, From Level 30 To Level 50, It Took About2 Hours To Get 20 Levels! This Made The Rest Of The Game Easy, But Once You Get To Where You Should Be About That Level Its fun!

turn based battles are very funny. well what is RPG games about?? strategi and tactics of cours. and turn based has always been the best way of doing that. anyway, in this game the battles are very cool.
