Technically, the DS doesn't use cartridges. They use a card technology similar to what the Turbographix-16 used back in its heyday. And honestly, as a pure gaming system, PSP isn't all that impressive. You need to install this last generation of games to your stick to keep the load times manageable, not to mention the poor battery life compared to the original DS.

psp all the way. There are great games on the psp all you have to do is find out the shit ones and avoid them in the mix. Great titles such as the armored core ps2 ports, assasins creed, prince of persia. Especially now, late in it's run you get peacewalker, resistance, 3rd birthday and all the cool emulators. Shit my psp plays 64 games better than my computers do.

Gameboy colour? lol it really was just a gameboy with a colour screen in a smaller package. it wasn't more popular than the game boy, the game boy was the one that put portable on the map. And technically the sega game gear and even the atari lynx acomplished what the game boy colour did years ago but unfortunately sega was let down by bad marketing and atari from consumer distrust.
NEO-GEO?? It was and still is the only home console that ever had 100% arcade perfection in the home. It was also one of the longest running consoles, with a life spanning from 1990 til late in 2003.

I have 4 NEO-GEOs myself, 2x AES, 1x CD, and 1x 4 slotter MVS ( also got a single and another 4 slot that no longer work and are parts mules )

Maybe people couldnt justify the price, but i had no problem affording to buy mine at the age of 13, and neither did 3 of my friends who also at the age of 13, worked after school to be able to get what we wanted. We did the same to get out 3DOs, and then the same when i bought my Saturn. The NEO-GEO was cheaper than BOTH those machines. It was extremely cheap for what it was at the time.
@infantryhawk Well that is a matter of opinion also, both were better machines than the PS1 in all ways apart from software support, and i dont think either of them were over priced really considering how good they were for their time. The NEO-GEO on the other hand was FAR from being over priced. You get what you pay for, and if you want a game console at launch, it is what it is and you pay accordingly ;)
@MeekaChann I've figured out in the last year or so that the DSi is starting to pick up on them. But they are almost always hard to get and usually cost an arm or leg.

@cyclonboys64 It would't be practical. Gc and SNES only did that because the format was simple enough to transfer. UMD is far too complex. Also, it would come out fr PS3, as that's Sony's focus.

There are some incorrect facts here. One the Playstation is not the first CD System Sega CD, CDi and the 3DO all came out before the Playstation. Saturn and PS1 came out about the same time. Did you know that N64 was called Ultra 64? CD's also made it more economical then the N64 cartridges. Um wrong. The Neo Geo Pocket Color has the longer battery life than the GBA. The Genesis did better in Japan.

1. The PSP only had a few good games like Patapon and the Prappa the Rappa and other RTS games. The other console ports from the xbox360 and PS3 just sucked donkey crap.
2. Nintendo 64 had a large variety of great games including third-party games, yes there were a few bad games for the system but what system doesn't have bad games.
3. SNES is an okay console, it was amazing for its time and yes it is the best console.
4. PS2... Best PS ever made, better than xbox and cheaper too

The SNES was a better machine than the Genesis without a doubt, the SEGA machine was built from "off the shelf" components while the SNES was mostly custom.
...having said that I enjoyed the Genesis more than the SNES simply because I thought the SEGA games were more inventive and "Adult". I liked the SNES just fine but I had more fun with Genesis.

the psp internet browser is a piece of shit and battlefront 2 on the psp is actually alright and why did use a picture of batman on the nes as an example of a bad movie game? batman on the nes is easily one of the best games on the system

@efingsandals While being able to play game gear in the dark was undeniably beneficial, it's back light couldn't be turned off (Correct me if I'm wrong on that.) and more importantly sucked batteries worse than a vampire sucked blood from a sleeping plague victim.
It had less of a library, but I'm sure it's size was a reason it didn't sell too well either.
As for the tv adapter, I never have even heard of it. What's it called?

@aidwin85 It's undeniable CD's could store more than carts. As for the actual system's specs, I'll honestly say I have no idea... But I assume PS1 was superior due to it's compatibility with carts.
In general though, carts do seem to last longer than cd's. Not that I've had a real problem with either.

1. The PSP only had a few good games like Patapon and the Prappa the Rappa and other RTS games. The other console ports from the xbox360 and PS3 just sucked donkey crap.
2. Nintendo 64 had a large variety of great games including third-party games, yes there were a few bad games for the system but what system doesn't have bad games.
3. SNES is an okay console, it was amazing for its time and yes it is the best console.
4. PS2... Best PS ever made, better than xbox and cheaper too

The SNES was a better machine than the Genesis without a doubt, the SEGA machine was built from "off the shelf" components while the SNES was mostly custom.
...having said that I enjoyed the Genesis more than the SNES simply because I thought the SEGA games were more inventive and "Adult". I liked the SNES just fine but I had more fun with Genesis.

Nothing wrong with that and I have loved many of the games on all their consoles.But as an adult I appreciated SEGA and 3d party Genesis games for their slant towards older gamers, early EA RPG's and other developers had me playing that 1988 tech for hours and hours in the early 90's..Saturn..not so much, PS1 was king by then for me

@efingsandals While being able to play game gear in the dark was undeniably beneficial, it's back light couldn't be turned off (Correct me if I'm wrong on that.) and more importantly sucked batteries worse than a vampire sucked blood from a sleeping plague victim.
It had less of a library, but I'm sure it's size was a reason it didn't sell too well either.
As for the tv adapter, I never have even heard of it. What's it called?

interesting review...but you have to remember during the 64 era, the ps1 did not launch with dual analog. that came 3 years later, after Nintendo revolutionized polygon/3d gaming with its ingenious 'control stick.'
gaming would never be the same! so owes nintendo deserves reparations for that one!
