noo why Matthew. you made me want to sell half my army because my army is every thing you said not to have but thanks for the tips also does mycetic spore (spore pod) count as a troop
Can anyone tell me if fielding a storm trooper squad be good in a 500 point army (The storm troopers not being one of my 2 troop choices) for Imperial Guard
Tyranids also lost the biomorph to upgrade their toughness by +1. If they had that warriors would be a bit more durable and losing eternal warrior would not be as bad.
Now I never heard the term "Glass Hammer" before (I've heard of a Glass Cannon) but maybe it's the same figure of speech. If I was playing with Nids, Hormagaunts would be my Troop choice (It gives me an idea of using my Emerald Dice for Poison).
Thank you Matt for explaining the Nids in a very simple way for me to understand.
Regarding Hormagaunts: Toxin is a must, but the Toxin + Adrenal combo should not be left out as an option. The 4++ To-wound on Marine-equivalents is always worth considering.
Also, another reason why Ripper Swarms are god-awful: they're swarms, and swarms can't capture objectives, making them basically useless as troop choices.
My friend ran a very successful list where that he had two Genestealer broods and one Termagaunt brood. The Termagaunt he would run as a minimum sized brood with no upgrades, and put them in reserves. Then he would try to bring them in from reserves and run over to an objective, where they would go to ground. 9 times out of 10 this would give them a 3+ cover save and make them super annoying to kill.
This was really informative. Use Tyranids a lot, but as I'm the only one I know with them it's always been hell figuring out what to use as it all seems to just die.Think it's because I use warriors a fair bit, but they always seem to die. Also I don't have a tervigon or any termagants - think i'll work on that :3
If you have a Forgeworld Malinthrope then all of a sudden Rippers and Termagants get so much better giving them prefured enemy and combining with toxin and possibly adrenal means that your unit of 5 Rippers than poors out 25 attacks re-roll to hit (often 4's), then wound on 4's with re-rolls if they charge.

i had 3 genestealers and 5 hormogaunts with adrenal glands take out a full necron warrior squad, they are the best.

one thing matt is that strength 8+ weapons usually have either a incredibly short range and a single shot.

Amen to the Genestealers. I had a pack of eight wipe out a terminator squad in one assault.

@power2285 Great against MEQ, and for DS meltaguns for tank hinting. Not sure how good they are in 500 points.

When you mentioned the Broodlord, it reminded me of one of Captain Slaughter's lines. I think it went something like:
"That is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard since the Broodlord became a Troops Choice upgrade!"

I aggree with your rule assesment. Sometimes rules do stack, but that is a "rare" occurance as not many things in the game fall prey to that rule.
Just try and watch the people use th Khan and try and get his counterstrike rule in addition to Furious charge. (FYI that doesn't work)

honestly tyranids aren't that good of an army any more :(

From what I've heard Broodlord was converted to a troop upgrade believe it or not
Due to high sales compared to the other HQ choices (what very few there are to compare to)
But I can't confirm this ^^
