The old mongoose, and light heavyweight even floored him. Just think what Liston, Foreman and Tyson would have done to him. Due to Marcaiano's style of fighting he would have pressured the greatest, but Ali would have outclassed him and beat him like a baby. I think the best fight would have been Marciano vs Frazier. Shavers was the hardest puncher.

I will give Marciano credit fot knocking out Walcott in the first round in their rematch as not many boxers from the 1960s or 1970s would have been capable of doing that. That was a very good even though Walcott was 38 I believe but You could say Ali knocked out a better fighter in the first round in Liston.

Many of these fighters are widely considered to be the greatest to ever grace the canvas to this very day, but Marciano fought bums. Is Marciano undefeated? Certainly. For jersey joe fight marciano was 28 and walcott was 37. For ezzard charles fight marciano was 30 and charles was 32. Ali's two finest performances against liston and williams. For sonny fight ali was 21 and liston 34-40 (no birth certificate). For williams ali was 22 and williams was 34. I could be off slightly, but ali fought old guys too!!

I'm still waiting to see that you can make a relative point using your knowledge of both fighters. I have done that, you haven't. Why don't you give it a try. Outline in detail why the prime ali 21-24 would beat marciano. Be sure to give lots of coherent facts if you can, I doubt you have any indept knowledge of the fighters and their respective careers.

@MrPelavacas You clearly don't, you never back anything up with facts. In his prime for 29 fights straight every single fight ali fought was against way older men. Twenty nine fights in a row every fighter was older than ali. This fight here in his comeback was the first time ever that ali faced a guy younger than him. Check it out on boxrec or any reputable boxing site or forum. I'm not wrong. All of ali's 29 fights before exile were against older men. And you say marciano fought old men!!

@XavierMarcian The fact of the matter is Ali beat Foreman who would have reigned until doomsday if Ali never beat him lol. And he Also beat Liston who was also regarded as the most powerful champion in history at the time. So those two victories alone would stand out compared to anything Marciano did. And Ali and Foreman would have also had a chance of beating the boxers from the 1980s, 1990s and todays crop. But I doubt Marciano would have had a chance lol. He wouldn't even be a cruiseweight.

I concur. Ali defeated every fighter who was considered as good or better than him at least once. Many of these fighters are widely considered to be the greatest to ever grace the canvas to this very day, but Marciano fought bums. Is Marciano undefeated? Certainly. @MrPelavacas Lets see prime ali beat moore when he was 50, and ali was 21. He beat cooper (and got floored and only won by tko on cuts, cooper was winning on points) when cooper was 34 he was 21. He beat williams when williams was 34 after he had been shot and came out of a coma, ali was 21. He beat liston who was 34-40 (no birth certificate) when ali was 21. Ali fought a lot of old men. Thats what I mean by FACTS. Ali fought more old men than marciano with bigger age gaps.

But even if Liston was older the fact of the matter is he destroyed Patterson in one round twice the year before and I also think he would have destroyed Marciano. And there is no way Marciano would have conquered a 25 year prime and undefeated George Foreman. I am not being a crusader I am just pointing ou the facts that a clear foir all to see in relation to Ali's and Rocky's careers.

The two boxers were filmed sparring, then the film was edited to match a computer simulation of a hypothetical fight between them, each in their prime. It wasn't a tough fight. Marciano beat him easy in the end, he ko'd him. That was 34 year marciano fighting 42 year old moore. What about ali fighting moore, when moore was 50 and he was 21. Did you forget that!!

@XavierMarciano I know bert said that but he is wrong, first of all bert was saying that for marciano's six best fights (in his opinion) and he is bad at math, walcott was 37 (and got better with age, anyone who saw walcott fight or knows his boxing history will confirm this) charles was 32 (marciano was 30 at the time not much gap) joe louis 37, Archie moore 42. now add up the four ages of those men and divide by four for the average, its not 40. Bert is shit at math.

@MrPelavacas Ali is without a doubt by far a superior fighter to marciano, and faced overall better opposition. I never said ali wasn't the better fighter. I accept ali is the better overall fighter, I rate him as the greatess heavyweight ever. That doesn't mean prime for prime he would beat marciano. Prime v Prime marciano has the edge. Ali's most notable wins came when he was post prime. In his prime he was floored by cooper and banks and had a terrible time with jones.

@MrPelavacas Its about bmi, marciano was 5'10" and half with a 68 inch reach to carry 188 pounds of weight. Ali was 6'3" and quater with 80 inch reach to carry 209 pounds of weight. On bmi marciano is much more built. I rate ali the greatest of all time check my page, but I have seen enough upsets to know, styles really do make fights, I believe marciano capable of beating ali, but im no marciano fanboy, because I also believe against foreman he would be knocked out same as joe. Its about styles

@XavierMarciano Ali was 213 lbs for this fight, 212 lbs for Bonavena, 215 lbs for his first fight with Frazier and 216 3/4 lbs when he conquered Foreman in Zaire. And if Liston, Foreman, Frazier and Shavers could not beat Ali inside the distance then I very much doubt some who was 5'10" and weight 189 lbs and lacking in skill and fought old men and hasbeens being able to accomplish it lol. Styles make fights to a certain extent therefore I cannot see Marciano beating Ali in 1, 000,000 years lol

@XavierMarciano And as I already said on other posts I think most of Ali's opponents would have beaten Marciano as every sport gets better with every generation and boxing is no different. In a fantasy match up Ali would have had every advantage in the book over Marciano therefore I can only see a comprehensive victory for The Greatest probably within 8 rounds. But we could be here until doomsday discussing this as everyone has their own opinions on the matter lol.

Every era has a slump but sport generally gets better my friend. And I happen to think the Klitschkos are formidable boxers. As I said before I have a little book on about Ali and it tells me all of this in that. And it is well documented. Those little mini books you can get about anyone from William The Conqueror and the Domesday Book in 1086 and when he defeated King Harold at The Battle of Hastings in 1066 to Napolean and Waterloo in 1815 ; - )

It called marciano the winner by ko in round 13 and thats more than likely the outcome, ali can't knock out marciano in my opinion, for ali to beat him it would have to be decision victory or a tko on cuts. Marciano to win by a late ko or split decision.

@dave10172 Marciano may have fought older men but so did ali, okay marciano two finest performances were against jersey joe walcott and ezzard charles. For jersey joe fight marciano was 28 and walcott was 37. For ezzard charles fight marciano was 30 and charles was 32. Ali's two finest performances against liston and williams. For sonny fight ali was 21 and liston 34-40 (no birth certificate). For williams ali was 22 and williams was 34. I could be off slightly, but ali fought old guys too!!
