Sorry; I think the teachers' strike was actually in 1982. I think...because I remember reporting to Mrs. Peart's 8th grade math class first (which was actually "5th hour" at Munger Middle School) at about 12:45PM first, the day the strike was declared over and "back to school" for us. Tragic thing was, whilst the strike was going on, school was in fact closed (for us) the first few days into the projected school year.
My family was Democrat, but Proposal D had a negative effect on just about everyone. "Tent City" (on the WDIV News at 11 teaser) reminds me of the OWS protests...nothing new about squatters. I remember the teachers' strike in '81 in 7th grade when we were watching the Noon newscast and Bob Bennett reporting the strike over, and my sister and I had 20 minutes to get to school for about 2 hours that day! NBC's peacock logo still had 11 feathers on it.
Wow, that segment at 3:20 brings up chills. I grew up about a mile from where Bobby Ogg was found. Hung from a tree by his own belt, at his bus stop. Hot Dog shoved down his throat. And to think the killer was his own mother.. i can remember the fear the community had at that time, ...very chilling.
@haujimm This was a few years after a serial child killer (who has still never been positively identified) had terrorized Oakland County. Bobby Ogg's death led a lot of people at the time to believe another string of child murders was in the offing.
Diane Ogg wouldn't be convicted until 1992, when she was sentenced to Murder Two and given 10-25 years. She was paroled in September '08.
I 4got Dristan came in that big ol' box. IDK how my old man could take Dristan to this day. I get high every time I take that stuff. And I'm just trying to clear my sinuses fro cryin' out loud. Dristan is some heavy stuff to clear the sinuses (which would explain the occasional high I get every time I used it), but it gets the job done.
O. M. G. I remember that Cutlass from the 80s. Sadly that would be the last of the Cutlasses until 1989 when they made the poor thing "Aerodynamic". 1988 was also the LAST of the 442 Cutlass as well. And is Kal Kan STILL in business? I remember the Flintstone vitamins as well. Them things were addictive back in the day!
I love watching old commercials from before I was born. Always cool to watch these and think that these are what people watched at the time, like the Cheers commercial and such. Thanks for posting!

My dad had an '85 in that color. The tailights changed in the '84 model year. It was a good car, probably in the junkyard now.
