The best friend any song ever had. I feel like I'm riding on the Calypso every time I hear this...Just look at the crowd swaying! I saw John at Royal Albert Hall in 87. He had the whole world in the palm of his hand that night. Arlene, I am so happy that you younger people are embracing johns music. These songs live because of John, but they will live forever because of fans like us! Thanks for posting. Could you post "Goodbye Again" from this concert, too? That song breaks my heart!
@scoobystu82 It must of been an amazing experience to see him live, wish i had the oppertunity. I will see what I can do regarding Goodbye Again. You are most welcome and you are right about us, we will keep his music alive for our lifetime and for the generations to come. Thank you for your post.
John was amazing, a multi-instrumentalist and very underrated guitarist. It annoys me sometimes when people feel liking his music is a "guilty pleasure" and don't want anyone to know. I mean, what is not to like? He always writes from the heart and this is my favorite song by him. As if all his other talents weren't enough, he is also an excellent yodeler! Rest in peace John
yes, I wish he had been able to do that. The more I hear calypso the more I feel like crying, I don't know why, and look, when he talks in the part in the middle he has to surpress tears in his eyes. Could that be human nature : the loss of something, whether it be wildlife or just life ?
yes,he does get emotional when he says he wants to be able to do that with his kids, maybe he knew for some reason that he wouldnt be able to do it!!thats a good question, thank you for your comment.
From the mountains to the ocean and back--- John Denver was not just a fantastic lyricist and singer, but oh, so very wise about the present, and the future. I sorely miss him. Even my 89 1/2 year old mother loved his songs.
Thank you for sharing this. I needed to hear the part in the middle about resentment and regret. Wish John had lived to go fishing with his grandchildren.
I'm watching a dream that will never come true. This is the closest to reality as I can get.

There are very few songs that can get a crowd of strangers to feel the same emotion, and do the same thing together.
This [Calypso] is one of the few.
God Bless John Denver

John Denver was wise beyond his years!
I hope people realize he was one of the first early environmentalists to speak out for our planet ...we sure could use his wisdom right now!
Miss him dearly!

More popular now than 12 years ago when the World lost one of its great Angels. I miss him more and more everyday...and so does the World.
