For the last freaking time, flares WERE dropped that night at about 10:15PM, and that's what most films are of. But the event that most describe as the solid craft overflew Phoenix at about 08:15PM-08:45PM. THAT was the "Phoenix Lights" "craft".

I want to know what those orbs are... when i saw this 16 years ago, i had no idea that these types of orbs where being seeing by other people, so now i know i did see something strange, and i am really really curious to know what they are!
It wasn't a helicopter or plane or anything i've ever seen, it was very close to me, when i see this videos usually the orbs appear to be quite far away, however this one was very close just floating there, and i can tell, it felt like it was staring at me, there was no light in my roof terrace so what i think it happened was that this thing was floating around and lightened me up to see what i was. Another thing is i can't remember when it left which i also find very strange.
I do not know what this orbs are, but at the age of 15 i was one night seating on my roof terrace after having a fight with my mother at 10:00 in the night, i remember seating in a corner on the ground being very angry at my mother and sister, when all of the sudden i was lighten up by a white (not very bright) light, and when i looked up, i saw this white orb glowing and floating there, maybe 15 meters away from me... till the day of today i have no explanation for what i saw.

There was more than 1 case of lights back in 1997. I was present for this case where the lights that traveled from East to West just after sunset & was directly underneath them driving on the freeway from the South East valley towards West valley & was able to watch them for over 25 minutes until they disappeared in the West over White Tank Mnts. They were barely 2000 feet up, not connected by a single mass nor did they black out the stars & clearly black, sleek helicopters in silent mode.

That is absolute shit! the Pathfinder flares (the really bright flares used on the A-10's) are a bright white colour and drop at a decent rate (they certainly do not fly up as well) and if an A-10 was dropping its flares, they appear very close togethor, the drop one every 1.5-2 seconds. and if there were about 10 orbs well over 1-2 miles apart... that A-10 would have been needing to go well in excess of like... mach 7-8 to do that.. and thats impossible

i watched a t.v program about this today where they analysed the video and said that the lights were more cosistent than that of flares can't remember the exact scientific explanation but there was a wobbly line for flares and a straight line for the lights here......i'm open to any argument either way and would like to believe there is intelligent life out there, i just hope to see it in my lifetime.

@robmundo Rob, the Travel Channel itself has updated the story using flares and superimposing the mountains into the scene which you don't see there at night... and each one of the flares disappear behind the mountains one by one proving they are flares. The question now is, what was the military doing in a civilian area dropping flares creating this confusion in the first place. It is possible they were testing a top secret craft to see if anyone would notice the craft
@robmundo They also have pointed out that for all the talk about these lights lasting for up to three hours, no one took more than a few minutes footage meaning they could all have been seeing the same thing and taking footage at the same time. The rest was a simple matter of suggestion and the military not revealing what it was doing creating suspicion. The show may reair again soon so check scheduling for the Travel Channel as they tend to air these shows repeatedly.

We saw these lights in June when we were in Phoenix. We had left San Tan Flat and were walking out to the car and noticed these 3 green lights. Going straight up, down and sideways. Very cool to see and yes very eerie ... but .... yes it is a UFO ... but not necessarily from outer space or and alien ... think about this for a minute ....UFO - Unidentified Flying Object ..... the lights are Unidentified, perhaps the lights seem to be Flying, and yes it is some sort of an Object.

The military does a lot of things seemingly "for no reason," wastes quite a pretty penny too, because they need to practice in situations that as as real as possible, without compromising safety. Flres would be dropped as part of an exercise, especially if ground troops are also playing. But as has been said before, these "flares" stayed visible for over 2 hours. Flares don't burn that long or hold position for that long as they are on small parachutes. Also, any exercises would take place over restricted military property so no civilianswould be injured. The play area certainly wouldn't be as close to Phoenix as the AF would have us believe.

People don't ordinarily carry cameras when they are out and about and in 1997 cell phones were minimal nor did they have cameras. And for those who did try to take pictures of the close objects, the mile wide object was so massive and blocked out the stars that the pics did not turn out.

For the last freaking time, flares WERE dropped that night at about 10:15PM, and that's what most films are of. But the event that most describe as the solid craft overflew Phoenix at about 08:15PM-08:45PM. THAT was the "Phoenix Lights" "craft".

It wasn't a helicopter or plane or anything i've ever seen, it was very close to me, when i see this videos usually the orbs appear to be quite far away, however this one was very close just floating there, and i can tell, it felt like it was staring at me, there was no light in my roof terrace so what i think it happened was that this thing was floating around and lightened me up to see what i was. Another thing is i can't remember when it left which i also find very strange.

I do not know what this orbs are, but at the age of 15 i was one night seating on my roof terrace after having a fight with my mother at 10:00 in the night, i remember seating in a corner on the ground being very angry at my mother and sister, when all of the sudden i was lighten up by a white (not very bright) light, and when i looked up, i saw this white orb glowing and floating there, maybe 15 meters away from me... till the day of today i have no explanation for what i saw.

There was more than 1 case of lights back in 1997. I was present for this case where the lights that traveled from East to West just after sunset & was directly underneath them driving on the freeway from the South East valley towards West valley & was able to watch them for over 25 minutes until they disappeared in the West over White Tank Mnts. They were barely 2000 feet up, not connected by a single mass nor did they black out the stars & clearly black, sleek helicopters in silent mode.

ok about the whole A-10 flare thing. That is absolute shit! the Pathfinder flares (the really bright flares used on the A-10's) are a bright white colour and drop at a decent rate (they certainly do not fly up as well) and if an A-10 was dropping its flares, they appear very close togethor, the drop one every 1.5-2 seconds. and if there were about 10 orbs well over 1-2 miles apart... that A-10 would have been needing to go well in excess of like... mach 7-8 to do that.. and thats impossible

i watched a t.v program about this today where they analysed the video and said that the lights were more cosistent than that of flares can't remember the exact scientific explanation but there was a wobbly line for flares and a straight line for the lights here......i'm open to any argument either way and would like to believe there is intelligent life out there, i just hope to see it in my lifetime.

I just watched another Travel Channel documentary on this where they released flares proving the lights do look the same and this time they did something no one during this entire thing thought to do, they actually took an exact image of the same scene during the day and superimposed the mountains behind the scene where each light disappears behind the mountains one by one which all the UFO theorists said was impossible... and then it was proven by doing the simplest thing

The question now is, what was the military doing in a civilian area dropping flares creating this confusion in the first place. It is possible they were testing a top secret craft to see if anyone would notice the craft

@robmundo They also have pointed out that for all the talk about these lights lasting for up to three hours, no one took more than a few minutes footage meaning they could all have been seeing the same thing and taking footage at the same time. The rest was a simple matter of suggestion and the military not revealing what it was doing creating suspicion. The show may reair again soon so check scheduling for the Travel Channel as they tend to air these shows repeatedly.

In fact, they have NEVER been re-enacted, but these mysterious and unexplained sightings have showed up around the globe. What some have filmed shows a formation of military aircraft flying in formation. What others have filmed show flares being dropped by military aircraft. (We are talking about 2 separate events, and this is where the confusion begins). Some experts analyze the video of the aircrafts flying in formation (instead of the flare video) and can easily "debunk" the government's "flare explanation" this way. They analyze the wrong video! Many people were watching the skies that night b/c of the comet.

We saw these lights in June when we were in Phoenix. We had left San Tan Flat and were walking out to the car and noticed these 3 green lights. Going straight up, down and sideways. Very cool to see and yes very eerie ... but .... yes it is a UFO ... but not necessarily from outer space or and alien ... think about this for a minute ....UFO - Unidentified Flying Object ..... the lights are Unidentified, perhaps the lights seem to be Flying, and yes it is some sort of an Object.

1) The Air Force first denied craft were in the area.
2) The Air Force then says it was an aircraft dropping flares.
3) These in no way resemble flares.

@thegreatninjaman - but I was watching the documentary on this and this 'spaceship' apparently cruised down a very wide area of Pheonix with some people going on CNN stating that "I was right underneath this thing".
The interesting part of this sighting was that the Governer at the time has come forward and publicly stated that it was, in his opinion, definitely something other wordly (as he also witnessed this thing hovering in the sky).

The military does a lot of things seemingly "for no reason," wastes quite a pretty penny too, because they need to practice in situations that as as real as possible, without compromising safety. You know how much jet fuel costs? But there is no substitute for practice in a real aircraft, using real devices.

Flres would be dropped as part of an exercise, especially if ground troops are also playing. But as has been said before, these "flares" stayed visible for over 2 hours. Flares don't burn that long or hold position for that long as they are on small parachutes. Also, any exercises would take place over restricted military property so no civilianswould be injured. The play area certainly wouldn't be as close to Phoenix as the AF would have us believe.

@soulster1978 It was 1997, the technology that everyone has now wasn't available or widespread then. Most people were in their homes and weren't even aware that it was happening. No one had camera phones, and not many people carried video cameras around like they do now. There was no youtube then. It happened. I saw it. TENS of THOUSANDS of us did.. What it was, I don't know.

People don't ordinarily carry cameras when they are out and about and in 1997 cell phones were minimal nor did they have cameras. And for those who did try to take pictures of the close objects, the mile wide object was so massive and blocked out the stars that the pics did not turn out.

I know that if thousands of people saw this, then it must be true. As the great Mr. Spock said, if we are the only living beings in the Universe, than it sure is a waste of space, or something like that. Our government does not believe we could handle the truth ( A Few Good Men ). Back in the 60's a group I believe was done by somebody named " Brookin's" and they or he, came to the conclusion that we would go into a mass panic or something to that effect. Brooking's Institute. Done in the late 50 or early 60's and the determintion was that there would be mass panic if it became open knowledge that we were being visited. The view of ETs at the time was driven by science fiction movies about hostile aliens and invasion.
