  • herman tilke is a dick!!!

  • i have this helmet!! but a replica :)

  • the new hockenhiem sucks!

  • @nordlingen support you

  • This video has 0 dislikes for a reason! Absolutely brilliant track!

  • I fucking worship this man, even when TCS was introduced he refused to use it.

  • What's the point keeping a long straight and three chikanes right into the woods? Every car goes about the same speed there, it's just pointless energy/fuel-wasting transport.

New Hockenheim = 100 times better

  • @4JRimmer Go watch DTM then.

  • Does anyone like Bernie? He is such a cunt.

  • Fuck new hockenheim!

  • You can see how responsive the stearing is. I bet at low speed that thing needs to do a 50 point turn to get around as well.

  • That steering wheel looks very awkward to hold.

  • @jordieDAFC That's the Alesi way.

  • @jordieDAFC no alesi just had a weird grip . ten to two like a road car..

  • @pvtdangles Ah ok, looks really uncomfortable :L

  • i miss this track...

  • Please old hockenheim. And please old v10

  • @martinhoszabo totallz agree ..but would never happen.

  • Jean Alesi RESPECT!

  • Its funny how the new hockenheim ring was built FOR the fans... But we all loved the old one...

  • The old spirit of the Forest :(

  • instead of spending unnecessary money on new stupid circuit and creating stupid rules to try to bring some more emotion, why not bring the old circuit back

  • This is real F1! FUCK TILKE, FUCK ECCLESTONE!!

  • I HATE HERMAN TILKE, HE IS A MOTHER FUCKER!!!

  • It looks like he has no grip at all, look how much more they fought with the car then

  • im all for the new tack.... but they should have at least left the older one there and maintained it so it could be still raced on!

  • I went around the old track yesterday (bike) its mostly full with small trees, theres nothing there, absolutly nothing, apart from one straight. Such a shame!!!

  • Tilke is a cunt. To be all his tracks suck

  • It wasn't tilke who destroyed all the tracks, FIA told him to do such shit :(

  • I miss the Prost team, nice blue cars...

  • Rebuild this track now, just do it. And put a huge banner on every straight saying FUCK YOU HERMANN TILKE.

  • Bring back this circuit please!

  • we want the old track and V10 motors

  • New track is very shit.. We wont the old track!!!

  • Fuck, I miss the Old layout of Hockeinheim :(

  • from 0:13 to 0:30 FLAT THROTTLE (better than Monza )

  • Nice ! good old times , unfortunately they kill F-1 in 2005. today is so boring :´(

  • @skarloff agree :(

  • the sound baby the SOUND!

  • that's a nice sound of v10's

  • i love the way he used to hold steering wheel and i miss old hockenheim :(

  • oooh good old times

  • grrrrr

    I like cheese

  • goodbye v 10!!!!

  • Alesi pilot is not very good but has attitude like everyone else should have at this time

  • It was obvious that a track redesign was on the cards at Hockenheim, but I think everyone was surprised when they tore up the old track section. It still makes me sad to think of that waste of a good track every time I see the gap in the trees where the track used to go.

  • @cbraxxas I look at that gap in the trees every time im there, and think the same thing!!!

  • spa. old hockenheim, monza. !!!! best tracks

  • @vprmn

Wrong.Spa, Old Hockenheim,Monza and Nurburgring Nordschelfe best tracks.

  • @pufflescpbw old nurburgring is boring to view. but nice track to drive ;)

  • @vprmn and the old silverstone

  • Old Hockenheim? = tonnes better than the new one.

  • Now I have seen Jean Alesi to work in LOTUS F1

  • Prost -Acer AP04 The last prost car in 2001. It was not all french like other prost car. The engine was Ferrari but the last versions from 2000 season

  • HOCKENHEIM ANTIGO ERA TUDO!! ESSE NOVO TRAÇADO É UM LIXO!! PODIAM TIRAR DO CALENDARIO NEM IA FAZER FALTA

  • APOIADO,A NOVA PISTA NAO PRESTA!!!!!

  • @vitorgt5 A pista nova,não presta,os motores V8 são rídiculos.

    Tenho saudades desse tempo

  • The new Hockenheimring is boring, there's nothing to it. The old one is an epic track. This shows that f1 are cutting everything down. They cut down the Nurburgring (by a LOT), they cut off a lot of Spa-Francorchamps, and modified Monza so it's easier to take on. It's boring now, no fun, Vettel is the new Schumacher, there's nothing to it.

  • We all miss the old Hockenheim Ring...

  • @LuxeXx If googled images of the old track in its current state, you would cry. Grass has grown all over the old track.

  • It seems to me like he was always fighting that car under braking. Good lap, good driver, but every time he went into a corner it seemed like he was fighting the car, like it was going to go around. :-(

  • Jean Alesi is a very good driver, thanks for the lap. =-)

  • too bad because much of the old hockenheim-ring is now a forest

  • watch 0:38 auto gear box lol

  • His helmet makes it look like a game.

  • This Prost-Acer was quite a difficult car to drive. It had no power steering, making it more work to put the car on the right place in a corner than the other cars. it also was powered with the ferrari v10 from the year before. Alesi finished 6th in that race, courtesy of some others having problems. However props to Jean for showing that anyone can drive well, just the equipment makes others look better than the rest... (reminds me of schumacher)

  • GOD I miss those days. I dont even watch hockenheim anymore because the new layout sucks so bad!

  • com'era bello il vecchio hockenheim

  • can't believe that they changed the Hockenhiem - Ring from this. It's much more exciting than the new track...

  • @filippone55157 and much more dangerous...

  • (Joking)

  • I'm disappointed with Peogeot for hiding this car from me after our agreement. Im a green-environmentalist by the way.

  • Yeah you understood me wrong. Off course they dont take the chikanes with max car speed. But with the highest speed you can take them.

  • I love sound of these old F1 cars..

  • HOLY HELL! WHAT A SOUND!!

Max your Volume. Make this Fullscreen. And be part of the great old days of F1!!

  • Good old times - i miss those purple Prost Peugeot

  • I stop watching Formula 1 after they turned the best track of the season into a karting track...

  • @sas147741 old hockenheim was......straights and chicanes...it is challenge for pilots? :) new version is good but...i prefer some mix of "old and new layout" :) and tillke is bad architect for F1 so.... :(((

  • @vprmn

it was an extreme challenge for drivers. combination of high speed straights that required very low downforce setup and the slow, technical stadium section made it a unique challenge the drivers loved. nowadays hockenheim is just your average tilkedrome, with no unique features. sad

  • @vprmn

Yes it was a big challenge.

You drive with max speed. Into chicanes and max speed out. Cars had very low downforce to be fast. And then you had a slow stadium where you had to drive a F1 car without downforce trough corners.

    This needed skills and balls.

And there character with these long straights trough the forrest and the great stadium with all the fans like in a huge soccer stadium.

    Unique!

  • @ledaf41

Maybe i understand you wrong, or you have wright wrong, but all the Chikanes at Hockenheim was 1st Gear Corners about 80-90Kmh...

The Cars breake 130 Meters before the Chikane.

So no they dont take the Chikanes with Max Speed...

  • i love the sound of the v10 bikes, way better than those v8's

  • about 350 km/h yeaaa

  • I used to really look forward to watching the German GP on the old Hockenheim circuit. It was so incredibly sad when they chose to redesign it to the much shorter track...

  • automatic shift up?

    wth?

  • @tera90s

    Electro-hydraulic gearbox with paddle actuation.

The upshift and downshift levers are located behind the steering wheel in proximity to the driver's index and middle fingers.

  • Special configuration.... blah blah blah, it's a shame.

  • not the lap of perfection but wow the v10 sounds amazing, wish they didnt get rid of them

  • Herman Tilke needs to be shot ASAP

  • @TheRooster94

Tilke induced processional races are killing F1 more than the FIA is.

  • @TheRooster94 :]]]]]]

  • This car is a bitch to drive - just look how shaky is the steering wheel comparing to other 2001 cars.

And Alesi scored points in it!

(Worth mentioning that these - with Canada and Monaco - were the only points for Prost in this season)

  • @ 0:39, how can he shift, when he doesnt have is right hand on the steerign wheel? nice track btw, good old one. I was there this year (2010). I had to park my car on the old track! that was great, brings back old memories

  • @Kabaampje444

The Prost team's wheel used a rocker system with the levers mounted on a central pivot. The driver could pull back on the right lever or push forward on the left lever to upshift.

  • @PulletSurprise hmm.... this explains better, unfortunatly a great shift system in a not so great car, thanks Pullet, I didn't know. ;D

  • @PulletSurprise shifting up with left paddle? you mean downshift isnt it?

  • @vprmn

Not on a rocker mount. You can push or pull from either side of the wheel to get an upshift or downshift.

McLaren now uses a similar system with a split lever on a rocker mount. The upper lever does the usual right/upshift, and left/downshift business. Under it is another rocker lever that does the opposite so the driver can work through the gears with the index and middle finger on one hand with other free to adjust things or use the clutch paddles.

  • Fuck you Tilke!

  • Like the sound of this engins :))) awesome :)))

  • i miss the v10 era :( sounds freakin awesome!!

  • i odnt understand why they would get rid of this racetrack. like wow really?

  • the new hockenheim is a shit best the old.

  • i don't give up hope that one day in the future, some guys with too much money are going to bring the old layout back. i just want to listen again to that sound of a formula 1 speeding down the straights in that famous forest. it's so sad.

the thing is, it wasn't really bernie who destroyed that track. it was wrong management by some people with influence in hockenheim.

  • Such a better track than the new one, even though the new Hockenheim is a good track.

Ok, "it's too fast, blah, blah, blah", but tbh, that doesn't seem to be the problem. It's no faster than Monza. The problem seems to be the bumps. All they needed to do was fix the bumps, and perhaps make the chiccanes slow the cars down more.

Instead they build a new track! And it's not as if F1 could theoretically return to the old layout, as theyve replaced it with grass, and trees! =(

  • Look at the steering wheel - this car is so wobbly. I'd never even try to take it on a few laps, while Alesi was racing in it. And even scored some points!

  • another track ruined by bernie and company

  • what i want to know is why did they rip it up anyway. they could've built the new tighter layout and used this one for something too.

on another note LISTEN TO THAT CAR!!!

  • What a circuit Hockenheim was! Can we please have it back in its former glory?

This current "circuit" doesn't cut it.

  • @schuf1 Yes please, the actuañ circuit is crap.

  • i like more this than the newest.

  • Never noticed his high grip on the steering wheel til today

  • @vertigo8 Yep, its a remaining from his carting days. Thats something they teach you there, Alesi always kept his driving like that.

  • @vertigo8 Yeah! I remember watching the 1995 Monaco grand pix and Carlos Reutemann was commenting how high he grabbed de wheel. Unique style!

  • @magknight It would be awkward to change gears too lol

  • That looks horrible to drive! He is constantly fighting it through the corners. I like Jean Alesi. Great driver!

  • @damonsmedley1 The 2001 Prost was a dog of a car. But Alesi had the talent and skill to drive it on the limit. :)

  • oh yes i also remember he was nearly able to pass button but had to stay sixth. If raikkonen's suspension hadn't failed in japan that year he would've been classified in every race

  • heres another great track that had character and history which has been ruined, they went and spent millions on it and destroyed it from a great iconic formula one circuit into a go kart track....

  • Alesi always hold the wheel high

    xD

    Very good driver, amazing V10.

  • this sound is music in my ears.

great driving and a great legendery track.

    R.I.P Hockenheim Circuit

  • I rember this race well.. last race in Prost GP for Alesi before moving to Jordan. Nice way to score a point in last race with the team. Alesi was one of the best drivers of F1!

  • The V10's just sounded sooo much more alive than the current V8's.

  • Good old Alesi !!! Even when he was having to put up with poor machinery. He would still drive it to the max, even if it meant not scoring point !!!

Plus i really miss the old classic Hockenheim-Ring layout, it had so much character. The current layout is just so bleeding boring !!!

  • I was playing F1C on PS2, infact it's a Prost Peugeot one-two in the game when Alesi won at Hockenheim.

  • That's Tilke for ya...

  • Really really thank u for this video!!!Jean was one of the most talented drivers of his age, pushing on 110% even in his last year in F1...even on this decent Prost-Acer (Ferrari) on Michelin tyres

  • very nice the good old v10 ;)

  • thanks. :)
