Many people who consider themselves homosexual or "gay" choose to build their identity around that particular behavior, that one aspect of their lives.
They confuse their sexual behavior with their sense of self, so that if anyone disapproves of their behavior (homosexuality) then it's seen as a personal attack.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexuality and homosexuality.
I am a Christian and I agree that there is much hate between Christians and non-believers. I am telling you, my brothers, that this shouldnt be. Its sad to say it but many Christians have strayed away from Gods true intentions. God doesnt want us to kill gays or abortion doctors- NO! The people that have been convicted of this have clearly misunderstood the scriptures. What God is saying is that the Christian people should put to death the sin, not the person with it, by exposing the Gospel.
(cont) If you trivialize my capacity to love another man as you can love another woman, (and I don't mean in a brotherly kind of way) and chalk it up to a "choice" then you trivialize your capacity to love another woman in a romantic way. So if your logic can flow one way, then justify to me how it cannot flow the other way. No I don't "choose" to be gay, I AM gay, and I can assure you I have many more gay friends then you can dream of having, and we all seem to agree.
(cont) Lets address the church requiring parents to abandon their gay children or face being excommunicated from the temple. Or maybe we can address the rate of Mormon gay teen suicide? I mean I could get into other hypocrisys such as the churches history of polygamy, or blood atonements, but lets stick to the subject. This is my issue with your argument, sex is a choice, who we love, and how we express it is not a choice. (cont)
(cont) I would answer no. You can commit an act of homosexuality by choice as I can commit a straight act, but I can no more feel that "spark" with a woman no more than you can with another man. That is what I do not get to choose. So if you feel it appropriate for me to "act" in a way that is contrary to my heart, then would it be appropriate for me to ask you to do the same? No. So lets mention the Mormon church (cont)
@smsymbiote, you seem like a nice person, so I am not attacking you, but rather your church. You was that "we" have come to the conclusion that being gay is a choice. I find the wording of that interesting. Did you come to this "choice" as part of a group that "helps" gay people in the church to not be gay? Further, if I can "choose" to be straight, then can you "choose" to be gay? Of course you can, but could you fall in love with another man as you do a woman?(Cont)
Hi, I'm a mormon by faith and I have a few friends who are gay. I see Christianity as a guide back to heaven, not something to justify selfish intentions. We all sin, but it's a matter of a willingness to atone for those sins that saves us. I have talked with all my gay friends and we have come to the conclusion that they chose to be gay. As it is you can also choose to stop, but it is not my place to force you. After all, that is why we are here, to make choices and to live with them.
@smsymbiote "I have talked with all my gay friends and we have come to the conclusion that they chose to be gay. As it is you can also choose to stop, .. that is why we are here, to make choices and to live with them."
Then christians can choose not to be straight. Temporarily outlaw their marriage rights a few decades. It's in the best interest for the entire planet's ecosystem. Humans have overpopulated it to the point of endangering humanity itself. Gays populate far more responsibly.
SSnoooooo8, love the caps dude. It really emphasis your rage and disdain for us faggots. I am also quite sure that you also believe that black people were cursed by God, and faithfully read from the book Articles Of Zion. The truth is this, no one in society considered remotely respectful would associate with your kind. Not even Rush. You are an embarrassment to this country, so do what you do best. Troll.
Fernieboy, I get it, you have an issue with gay people. However I, unlike you understand that it is your right to not only disagree, but to have that right to disagree. I wouldn't dare try to take that right from you but based on your comment I don't hold that confidence in you. I unlike you do see the connection, I and many others get it. The bible and its message is lost on you as you cherry pick your way through it. Good luck with that.
@fernieboy, you honestly think that this country is so flimsy that gay people single handedly will destroy this country because of our corrosive moral values? Really? And one sided? So I suppose when a gay man or woman is harassed, beaten, or killed that that is not a one sided issue? So I suppose where "all men are created equal" that that equality is only meant for some, and that is not one sided?
Nice one sided and biased movie- wonder what you will think when the country is folded due to its crumbling morals and values - maybe you can't see the connection.
@fernieboy100 Morals are man-made. Not from some god figure. I am responsible for my thoughts, feelings, words and actions. I do not pin them on a god or devil.
@vmorgun Thats right - you ARE responsible for your actions even the bible says that - also keep in mind that the devil can only tempt he does not force anyone to sin - if you sin its your OWN choice - nobody can blame the devil since he can't force anyone to sin - and lastly keep this in mind - everyone will stand before the judgement seat of Christ - who is our creator and only hope for eternal life - you WILL stand before him one day and that day is not as far off as you think
I'm not fan of religion, I turned away from it all because of the hateful homophobia. Homosexuals are 2nd class citizens and it's WRONG! The cruelty inflicted on these people is inhuman and it's time to stop the childish hatred against gays. There are gay people in this world and they're good people who have made great contributions to society. Does it really matter who marries who? Or who does what in their own damn home? It's 2011 and we live by a book of laughable fairy tales!
@wierdude, I appreciate your comment and opinion, however I can no more change my sexuality and be true to myself than you can decide to become gay, and still maintain truth to yourself.
@SNOOOOO8, unfortunatly you my friend are the minority in your opinion. As each year passes and the hearts and minds of people change to support LGBT, your views and cosmology will become more desolate and empty.
I go to a bible club at school and I'm not christan at all so it's kinda funny really. I like to ask all kinds of questions, and I end up stumping the preacher everyday on his own religion and confusing himself. Realisticly, I've reviewed what I've been told, and ask questions to see why one thing contradicts another. All together, the bible just seems like one big contradiction and hypocracy to me. And honestly, I've analyzed it to be a rather hateful and exclusive religon.
i hope you arent talking about true christians because westborrow church, the nazis, the ku klux klan, and some of those pastors are all evil false prophets. homosexuality is a sin but it can be changed if you repent. i dont think gays should be murdered thats just as bad as murdering anyone else and carries the same punishment. dont be fooled by the false prophets for they are many.
That is whats interesting about the book and it's sequel... Its hard to explain without going into massive detail... But I can honestly say it's one of the best books Ive read in a long time, and it does have a fair bit of action/adventure while getting pretty philosophical.
Its Oingo Boingo the Song is Called Insanity and the Album was on the simply titled Boingo. I'm sure you can get it online or at your local Retailer like Best Buy.
What most who call themselves Christians seem to ignore is that Old Testament Mosaic laws were for the ancient Hebrew tribes.. Christ has come and risen and states that those old Laws are no longer valid. The Truth is in Christ alone. "And why dost thou behold the mote in thy brother's eye, and the beam in thine own eye dost not consider? " Matthew 7:3
Foobee2 I am not sure how read you are. In the bible but Christians do cherry pick. In fact, our laws here in the states actually prohibit following every letter of scripture, for instance, putting disobediant children to death and owning slaves which are just a few of the items in the bible that God deemed acceptable and yet are considered immoral and illegal by our standards of society and law.
Absolutely. DSM iv, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, has caveats scattered throughout it to exclude religion from being classified as a mental disorder. For instance (this is from old memory, not ver batim), there will be a description of psychotic symptoms, including discussions and relationships with invisible persons and beliefs that one's actions affect the decisions of rulers, and there will be a footnote: "except for members of recognized religious traditions".
@GorillaPHX I will preface this with saying that I respect that you are willing to call out the people who do these things. You seem a good sort. The problem I see, is that while you say that these people have cherry picked to justify their hate, the same could be said for those who do not abide by scripture such as "'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. Leviticus 20:13
@GorillaPHX If any of the scriptures can be taken as the word of god, then all of them must. If there is ever a point where you can say "Well this one here doesn't seem right, this must not actually be true", then all of them must be held as suspect. Either the bible is the infallible word of god or it is not. If it is not, then each person is able to decide which is truly god's word, and which were simply written by men for their own reasons.
@GorillaPHX If you have kept reading backwards to this point, I will have to say that I am not a christian, I am an atheist. This is an example of one of the many reasons why I am. If I were to believe that any of the scriptures were really the word of god, then I must believe they all are, otherwise I would be cherry picking, in effect ignoring the word of god that did not suit my world view. I am not a bad person, and I don't wish harm on anyone, bu the supposed word of god says I should kill.
@GorillaPHX I find it difficult to understand how a persons logic can fail them (I have met people who do this) to such a degree as to vehemently defend the bible as the word of god, yet at the same time, condemn others who follow those words. I urge all christians who do not stone their children or kill homosexuals, to try to look at the book they follow, look at it from a distance with perspective. If you take an unemotional, objective look, you might be surprised by what you no longer accept.
I'm a Christian, and seeing this video hurts me a lot. Especially since those two commandments ARE the most important, and christianity should be ALL about love.
It hurts me to see such hateful people drag the name of my faith through the mud and hurt people like homosexuals. Let me tell you one thing I'm sure of: God loves homosexuals as much as heteros.
I feel so bad for all of the shit that's being done in the name of the God I believe in. I apologize on behalf of all true believers.
Ok all Christians aren't bad. The ones that are though make the good ones look bad. So instead of trying to convince me of what I already know, that all Christians aren't bad, do something constructive, like condeming the ones that are bad. Simple enough?
Only of you have a very broad view of paganism. In its origional usage it was a term similar to heathen and was applied to all non-christians. Obviously under that usage christians cant be pagans. Also, words dont have religions. So the word god cant be pagan, although those who origional used it can be. Also again, if your refering to the Christian diety, its God with a capital G, not a lowercase one.
wheee, fun place...I came cuz' Boingo rocks socks... as for the ecumenical debate- judge not lest ye be judged. love thy neighbor, regardless of who your neighbor may be. hate the sin, love the sinner. umm...I've run out of rhetoric, so I'll just say, don't be a hypocrite, we are not perfect, and it's not our job to judge each other. Have a nice day.
Which i think is whats wrong with Christians. They think they are given power by god to judge. Although this video is blatantly an attack on all christians based on the actions of a few. Also overfocuses on homosexuality and the false idea that only christians dislike homosexuals.
yup, seems to be bred into our nature to judge everything.
not sure why you chose homosexuality as a main theme; and 'yes, Christians get blatantly targeted... but judgment in general and hypocrisy more specifically are the prevalent themes.
Sorry if I turned this into a soapbox...Boingo songs often have that effect, which is one of the things I like about them.
woops, should have watched it again before replying...forgot this edit of the song. yes, the creator has used this song to punctuate a specific agenda, and while it may seem to support it, they've taken it much further than the original artists may have intended.
All I can add at this point is that tolerance can go a long way toward making it possible to coexist.
Berea919, shame on me? No shame on you. I have made it clear who my target was, and its clear to me that either you didn't honestly watch the video, or you just assumed what the contents of it were. I called for Christians to be accountable for their fellow brothers. This was not condeming all Christians, and you know that. If that's what you honestly got from this video, then I am deeply concerned about how you would go about interpreting scripture. But either way, good luck with that.
Hey thanks everyone for being so supportive. Remember, a wildfire starts with just a little ember. Just keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight.
It is not the small, on the ground Christians who are the perpetrators of such hate; my RS teacher is the most tolerant and amazing human being I have ever had the fortune to come across. These people warp the true message of Jesus, which was faith and love. Your video highlights the hatred which homosexuals and others across society have experienced from these minorities using "God" as an excuse for their sick actions. Good people, of all faiths, should stand against such hatred. Love will out.
"A religion with a whole book which tells us to be lovely to one another, and they decide to focus on the section that says hate homosexuals" - I am an agnostic believer, and this is one of the reasons I refuse to conform to institutionalised religion. I know many wonderful Christians, but until there is open condemnation of this behaviour from the main Church I shall continue to follow my own beliefs. This video was inspirational, and encouraged me that I can believe without conforming.
Amazing video, and I hope it never goes down. If it does, theres a million other places on the web to put it up. I think the song matches the emotional punch you wished to deliver with the images. Thank you.
This may seem shocking but this video actually restored my faith in christianity. All the immages you displayed were what caused me to fear and run from the people I once called friends and brothers in christ, but knowing that there are people out there who are not like the people in the video gives me hope. Thank you so much for showing me that some people still do care about people like me.
Good idea people got Jesus all wrong he never said kill for me he said the opposite he made sense when he said or peter wrote "Those that live by the sword will also die by the sword" People want to attach him to every war and hate crime the true crime against to what people call god Blasphemy describe animosity what is it ? Hate and these people that say I come in the name in the lord and just put his name on there madness are worshiping there own self there own devilish nature putting
If it gets flagged for removal then so be it. I understand perfectly what the song is about, in fact I am not implying that the song itself is about homosexuality, but the song does make an excellent springboard for the point I was trying to make.
I have thought hard before giving you feedback. I understand how you think Insanity could be about homosexual persecution, and in a narrow sense, you could be right. But it's wider than that. This song, as is most of Boingo's music, is about not fitting in, not being part of the flock. I applaud you for finding meaning and hopefully comfort from this song. Sadly, it's just a question of time till they take this video down for copyright infringement, but keep up the fight!
(continued from before) Falwell's ilk unfourtunately are more vocal and more visable but the rest of us are working on closing the gap. Venues like Youtube are begining to "get the word out" about hate crimes, and how rediculus Hatred of any one is. I do not believe that hateing anyone is a good thing, so while I will gladly defend anyone from someone seeking to harm then I will do so withouth hatred, since hatered is pointless. Again thank you for your video. Please continue to document abuses.
Writing again, I want to mention that HRC the Human Rights Campaign has a religion department or division that sponsors dialigue between all Faiths, Christianity of all Denominations, Judiasm of all Branches, Islam of all kinds, Wiccan, Druid, Native American Traditional Religions, Taoisa, Seik, Buddist, and anyone who wants to show up. The last year I have stats for is 2007 but there were over 60 Religions repreented in Washington DC at a conference. (continued)
4evercop I think I made it clear who I was attacking. Instead of coming at me with your divine anger you should "WWJD" the situation and flip the Pharasee's tables in this country by demanding THEIR accountiblity instead of mine. Why are you wasting time with me when it is these very people who put your religion in peril.
Ok...First of all. I consider myself a follower of Christ. And I do believe Religion kills. But however you have only shown the extremists and the ideals of conservative and WRONG christians. All christians do not "Hate Fags" I sure dont, in fact I have gay friends, and I do believe Christ loves gay people as much as me. I understand where you are coming from and I agree that it is wrong, but this is insinuating all christians behave this way and it is clearly not the case. Thank you.
What I don't get is all these people who say aids is a curse on homosexuality and such when there are people being born into this world with aids and as the result of catholic maybe a protestant preacher who doesn't believe in birth control why would a benevolent god want that ? This video is right it is insanity people take the words of a man who hung out with whores and winos and was humble and preached non violence and use him as an excuse to kill and harm it is pure insanity christianity
Non descrimination laws have been used to protect the rights of blacks, gays, sex, and nationalities, but all of those are not a view, it's a state of being, while marriage is a social behavior, wither same sex or not. Putting that inot law would be the same as putting christian laws into federal law under the same pretext, which on your side of the arguement is wrong.
Sure, it's wrong if they do it, but it's ok for use, we're gay!
Seriously though, have you ever considered that the issue may not be the christians, but the fact that your trying to enforce a social behavior supported by sexual views into federal law along side your non-descrimination rights? Isn't that enforcing a your views onto the majority? Those laws already protect you from being excluded from groups and organizations, but you want to do the same to marriage?
i generally can't sit through videos of this type. why the sentiments are earnest, the presentation can be trying. yours is truly an exception. the emotions conveyed are palpable. sometimes it seems we're only preaching to the choir, but with so many hating against gays we really do need the encouragment to persevere from time to time. the talent displayed here shows you to be much more than some fat tattooed guy. you made me really feel your words. thank you. sincerely.
Many people who consider themselves homosexual or "gay" choose to build their identity around that particular behavior, that one aspect of their lives.
They confuse their sexual behavior with their sense of self, so that if anyone disapproves of their behavior (homosexuality) then it's seen as a personal attack.

"god" did not ordain any CHRISTIAN to preach the complete truth. Christianity is PAGAN...along with word "god". Put that in your pipe & smoke it
DivinelyGifted 2 years ago

Have a nice day.
kahunamek 2 years ago
Yet judge we humans do.
Which i think is whats wrong with Christians. They think they are given power by god to judge. Although this video is blatantly an attack on all christians based on the actions of a few. Also overfocuses on homosexuality and the false idea that only christians dislike homosexuals.
Stormthorn67 2 years ago
yup, seems to be bred into our nature to judge everything.
not sure why you chose homosexuality as a main theme; and 'yes, Christians get blatantly targeted... but judgment in general and hypocrisy more specifically are the prevalent themes.
Sorry if I turned this into a soapbox...Boingo songs often have that effect, which is one of the things I like about them.
kahunamek 2 years ago
woops, should have watched it again before replying...forgot this edit of the song. yes, the creator has used this song to punctuate a specific agenda, and while it may seem to support it, they've taken it much further than the original artists may have intended.

GorillaPHX 2 years ago
This is a narrow liberal view of Christianity. This video generalizes all Christians as Westboro Baptist nutjobs. Shame on you....

Thank you.

thank you for making such an excellent visual and logical example of what is happening too our human rights by hate mongers

GorillaPHX 3 years ago

GorillaPHX 3 years ago

Dyoni1 3 years ago
Sure, it's wrong if they do it, but it's ok for use, we're gay!
Seriously though, have you ever considered that the issue may not be the christians, but the fact that your trying to enforce a social behavior supported by sexual views into federal law along side your non-descrimination rights? Isn't that enforcing a your views onto the majority? Those laws already protect you from being excluded from groups and organizations, but you want to do the same to marriage?
Dyoni1 3 years ago
i generally can't sit through videos of this type. why the sentiments are earnest, the presentation can be trying. yours is truly an exception. the emotions conveyed are palpable. sometimes it seems we're only preaching to the choir, but with so many hating against gays we really do need the encouragment to persevere from time to time. the talent displayed here shows you to be much more than some fat tattooed guy. you made me really feel your words. thank you. sincerely.
