Just as I remembered it! Windy as h*ll....I took my wife and little daughter with me to visit the area....I still have the video of the Fetterman area and the funny thing is it was so windy it blew my hat off and some of the video is of me chasing my hat along the whole spur of the hill...crazy but fun...and we did eventually visit the Little Big Horn battlefield also...quite the trip and well worth it!
When I visited that site in '96 It was sooo windy it blew my hat off and I had left the recorder on while I was chasing it! I enjoyed visiting that area....great memories!
Captain Fetterman was nothing more than a loudmouth who got eighty men slaughtered because he had a disdain for the Lakota,, If i were Colonel Carrington I would have brought the following charges against him,
Conduct Unbecoming an officer.
Insubordination..
Attempted mutiny.
Failure to carry out and obey a lawful order!
And EIGHTY counts of murder! because that man was nothing more than a glory hunting idiot! Dont ask me about the charges on custer!
If anybody wants to read about the Fetterman massacre and other battles, I suggest to find books written by Terry C, Johnston. R.I.P.
He was a very good writer about the frontier, battles that I didn't even know happened. Although he tosses in fictional characters in his books, he also did heavy research and also visited sites such as the Bozeman road.
And Fetterman and his men rode out in defense of wood cutters which were coming constant attack.
I doubt it was "fun," as you put it, 8ringsofshaolin; but, yes, is likely that revenge was sweet to the men and women who had been so brutally treated by the soldiers.
I also agree with you that you should have been there at the battle. Then your vile comments would not be posted here, as you would be long dead.
that must have been fun killing those rapist and murderers i wish i could have been there i would have tortured them before killing those nasty venereal diseased scum from europe
In the book by Frances Carrington (My army life) She said: "They gave their lives to uphold the authority of the government" - important in all countries. Times were hard and people trying to survive regardless of their roots. To say you would have tortured them before they died is only placing yourself as a murderer. What you are unjustly accusing these soldiers of. But both white men and red were guilty of crimes. America was a nation of wandering tribes it could not stay that way forever.
crazy horse an his worriors killed them fair an square becouse the solders where going to kill woman an childern so the white solders got what they had comin
The terrain is similar to Custer's hill, it's a lonely spot, I feel like I've visited the place myself after seeing this video, I live in Britain so this is the nearest I will get! thanks for posting this.
I flew from London Gatwick UK to Rapid City via Minneapolis. Drove to Sheridan to see the Fetterman field on route to Montana and the Little Big Horn. It is a remote and beautiful place. Well worth going - something I will always remember.
The battle site is on a narrow ridge following the "BLOODY BOZWEMAN" it is amazing to be their and is so remote you could blink and miss it, it's erie to think about how many poor souls were to meet their doom their all of Fettermans command of 81 men were subsquentlly buried at Fort Phil Kearney 5 miles or less to the south then reintered to the Little Big Horn Battlefield Cemetary in the 1880's i wonder what kind of E.V.P's you could get their???

And so the progress white eyes fought so crookedly for gold, timber, lives and land...
Is now the progress that is devouring it's own people in America.
Meet the curse of a Crazy Horse on blood money in reserve...
It's only just begun, insatiable to the last man....
