There is a young boy in the Juniors that wanted to be in the Corp so bad his family moved from Fla just to be able to join. He has been playing percussion since he was a toddler, and is pretty good. My son and he are both snare drummer recruits. this year was the first year that they had over a few hundred applicants, selected 40 for interviews, and picked around 12 total. tough competition
I love the precision in this music. How crisp and clear it is. Not to mention that if you heard this chances were the continental army was on its way to kick the crud out of some one. lol :D Great stuff.
These guys are awesome! I'm 17, and upset I can never join. I live in Pennsylvania, so the traveling distance is obviously too great to come down here.
in the 1800s it wasnt just everyone playing at whatever age they were. people between the age of 16 and 60 were required to bear arms in the military. and now. @ least for cwf&d the kids can be 10 to come in and stop at age 18
what u know about the fife and drum corp, back in the 1800`s no matter how old the kid was, but that the way it is, but now this days kids play no matter how old they are and plz dont tell me negative stuff, for sure i know more than you....... and thats for sure. ooooooops and i forgot to tell you that i studied and played in the fiefe and drum corp........ thank you.
dambbbb i miss does days yup back in middle school i used to be on the fife and drum corp, i played the fife and also the drums. i was one of the leader of the band........i remember we had a competition in california with all the fife and drum corp and some other bands, and we got 2nd place........but yeah i miss does memories.
I was in the CW fife and drum corps as a kid. That was fun.
I think I have slight hearing damage in my right ear from the fife but it's on a frequency I apparently don't use much b/c/ it only shows up when we get hearing tests, ha ha.
One of the best and most sought after corps to be in! I was able to watch the juniors march once and I was amazed at how well they played (6 - 7 years old). Riveting to hear in person! My 1 1/2 year old is dancing around and marching to it!
this is one of the most difficult fife and drum corps to get into, and one of the best if not THE best, people wait before they're born to begin training to be a member of this. I watched the little ones play once and they were 7 - 8 year olds nad they were mind blowingly talented! Even better in person! It's riveting
you still in the corps? i was and still am involved with... you may want to check with the powers that be... either age 10 or 5th grade at the youngest...
no not still in but was smajor. i was saying that they kids who play in the junior corps are not even close to being 6-7 or 7-8 year olds. sorry, i was agreeing with you, i just said that wrong.

Are girls allowed to join, though, anyway?

So start one in Pennsylvania. I seem to remember girls in the group.
