He almost crashed it, but besides that,,, I've been to F1 races, and the 2011 Daytona 500.. I can tell you that nothing compares to the sound of an F1 engine. After experiencing that sound in F1, Nascar engines are nothing. F1 sound pierces your ears,,, you have to wear ear plugs., TV doesn't capture the exploding sound it makes while downshifting,, It's awesome.. I thought It was gonna be louder in Nascar, but I didn't even use the earplugs, it didn't come close.
@f1guy76 man its so true... i was in Warsaw once and there was a various racing demo type of thing.... yeah there were some super car and racing cars and even lower formula cars (the 4cyl ones) but when i left i was half a kilo away and the formula one came past it was crazy how loud it was all the way there..nothing compares!!!!!
@f1guy76, yeah true! and even the V8's that F1 uses now are still amazing. In fact if you have been to a F1 Race in the last couple years since the introduction of the V8's they still sound almost as amazing as the V10's Just a higher pitch then the V10's. Even more of a screaming sound. Only thing i am hoping they don't change to the planned V6 turbos in 2014. Those wont sound good at all. More like the crappy Indy cars.
@chargerfish1 dragsters should be ashamed if a 2,4 liter engine would be louder than their 8,2 liter supercharged engines. its just pure logic that its louder. However if i put on kesha with a higher volume it doesnt mean it sounds better than softly played beethoven :p
@Jam3zz07 The main reason is visibility. Rear view mirrors aren't designed to allow the driver to use them going backwards - to be honest they are that small that driver can only detect whether there's something behind him or not, there's also HANS system, that prevents head from turning . Another thing is that they're only being pushed when going to the garages, there's a special procedure of using the reverse gear on track: race engineer gives a driver instructions if he can go or not.
Man what a sound, you can hear the 960 bhp of this engine, I mean I visited two GPs in 2009 and 2010 and the V8 sounds very impressive too. But it's nothing compared to that.
My bad, I only watched a couple races in '07. Originally I meant to say '06 (V8) and '05 (V10) are the two years I watched pretty much every race. But this video still sounds a few thousand revs too high, I don't remember the V8 or V10 sounding this high pitched. I might be wrong, but it just saying.
I've been to a few races, and was lucky enough to experience the V10's in person. I would like to say that they sound as high pitch as in this video. Watching F1 on TV doesn't really give you the sense of sound with what you're seeing and hearing from the TV screen.
The Honda V10's screamed when they were on full throttle, and when idling they were the loudest ones of all in the whole paddock back in the V10 era. So you're wrong on this one unfortunately.
@luki01111 - Why are you asking for English when someone makes a comment in a foreign language? F1 is an international sport. Not everyone is born in an English speaking country and not everyone speaks English. I can't believe I even have to say this.
I have watched a lot of car videos in my day, and even watched f1 between 2006 and 2007, full seasons on TV. Watched the motion of the people waving flags and other parts in this video, the reason it sounds so high pitch is the slight speed up in the video. During the pit in the end it is normal speed to make it less obvious with people walking around. I might be wrong, but seems like it to me.
@blainyrules - my bad, you're right, 2006 was the last year I watched the full season and it was the V8, I also watched all of 2005 and it was the V10 on all cars in 2005. Thanks for pointing that out.
@INTERNATIONALvids afcourse not :P and if it was why should he do that making a f1 vid from 2004 with a top speed of 413 km/u go faster nope its just normal tempo :)
@79mystique79 - I made a mistake in my original comment because my memory failed me. I meant to say I watched the full seasons of 2005 and 2006, 2007 only partial. So I got to hear the v10 quite a bit, but in any case, this video sounds like it is 5-10% faster than either engine.
This engine sounds more high pitch than the others... do you think they ran the rev limit a little higher for this event? sence the engine wasnt going to be "raced"..
20,000 is common for that year v10.. and thats on race trim!. i bet there is 22,500-23,000 here
@Rayportugal lol maybe during start-up or when its idling on the runway and you get alot of that turbine sound, but when an F16 pours on the coals it doesn't sound anything like an F1 car. F16 sound like a steady, thundering roar at full power, F1 sound less like an engine than any engine I've ever heard, sounds like a power tool. High pinched sounds don't sound powerful imo I'd get a spiting headache if I had to listen to this for 2 hours, but maybe that's just me?
@Rayportugal I have heard one in real life, several actually, that's why I don't care for the sound. Again, high pitched sounds don't sound powerful to me and get irritating to listen to real fast. Deep sounds, like your typical American V8 sound MUCH better to me. If you like the way F1 sounds i think that's great. To each his own, right?
@Rayportugal Oh, I see, so if someone feels differently about what sounds powerful and what doesn't than you they're automatically wrong. How interesting.

@scrfce123 I've heard a few in person. People say the V10's sound better but I don't know. Still, after standing 10 feet away from a Top Fuel dragster everything else seems mild by comparison. Just no replacement for a 500ci supercharged engine on 70 pounds of boost running nitro and cranking out 8000HP ya know? Like being inside a thunder cloud.
@Warblade118 I've stood next to top fuellers too. I'd say that they are about on par with the V10's... That said, the season with TC made the V10's sound even more spectacular. Whenever they entered the apex, they would make a dozen or so popping sounds that would rumble the earth. Then, you had the wail of the V10 as it accelerated out of the apex - it was like a symphony of power with huge bass. Never failed to give me goosebumps every time I first heard it.
