    It's amazing! :D

  • SEQUEL PLEASE

  • There seems to be two blue monsters jumping around near the 1:04 mark in the video. Unless I miss my guess there's only supposed to one blue monster chasing after him.

  • @westeightyone it's quite obvious that he somehow teleports himself/ crosses dimenssions by hitting walls this is about imagination,t not logic..

  • @alexandresan

It's happening in the kid's imagination. That's why splashes are coming out of areas where there's no water in sight ( ie - awnings ). There's nothing 'obvious' about the monster appearing in TWO places at the same time. The kid is being chased by ONE monster in the kid's imagination.

This is about YOU trying to justify a mistake in the film.

  • @westeightyone why are you saying that to me? that's basically what I said.. you should be replying to westteightyone

  • @westeightyone There is no second monster. He falls at 1.03, then obviously goes (water-teleports) to the other building at 1.04.

No second monster, just precision timing.

  • @number2200

The monster lands on a bluish - yellow tarp suspended on poles in the distant bg. A building that's closer to camera pans over obscuring our view of the tarp. The tarp bounces up in the bg giving it the appearance of a bluish ball that's mostly hidden by the building. The monster emerges from another tarp suspended on poles next to a building that's much closer to us while the tarp is still at its peak. The monster appears to be in two places at once because of it.

  • @westeightyone

It's not because of the building being there; and the camera panning behind it

It's because the camera movement is a scene transfer. It is done in many movies and shows in which the camera moves behind a wall or beam of some sort, then blends to a totally different scene.

In this case, it transfers to a later point: which looks like some seconds later.

If it was an actual camera movement behind this wall, the momentum of the cam would be the same speed coming from the other side

  • @number2200

I'm not talking about the wipe ( black masking a cut ) at the end of the scene.. I'm talking about the building in the distant bg that's panning over and crossing in front of the bluish-yellow tarp in the distance. It all happens while the kid is running across the pier BEFORE the cut that you mentioned. The monster emerges from a yellow tarp on a building that's closer to camera ( on the right hand side of the screen ) BEFORE the cut.

  • @westeightyone Thats obvious isn't it?

The monster disappears into the far tarp.. then emerges from the near tarp. Nothing weird about that?

I never even thought that was the issue, because he just teleports from one tarp to the other.

  • @number2200 Yes, It's obvious that the monster is teleporting from tarp to tarp.. I never said that the monster wasn't teleporting from tarp to tarp.I'm referring to what appeared to me to be a mistake. The two blue ball shapes appearing on screen at the same time gave me the impression that there had been a mistake in the shooting of this film.. After a few viewings I came to realize that it was the rounded shape of the bluish yellow tarp in the bg and not the shape of the blue monster.

  • @westeightyone Oh, now I see. It is a bit bulged but it never occured to me it could look like the monster.

  • @westeightyone also: you can see there's a 'cut' when the camera passes behind the building, because there's no moment where you can see the wall (the backside of the building) itself. You can only see that you go past it with the camera. -then cut- and leave the dark area with the camera. There's an obvious but smooth cut in there.

  • If the animator had waited 3 or 4 frames before he had the monster emerge from the building that's closer to camera, the tarp in the distance would have had time to go down and disappear behind the building that was moving in front of it. The problem of having two giant blue balls ( the blue tarp in the distance and the monster in the foreground ) on screen at the same time could have been avoided if the tarp in the distance had been painted a darker yellow rather than a bluish yellow.

  • @westeightyone I see no problem in the cut. It's dynamic and I understand the scene transfer.

  • @number2200 I don't see any problem with the cut either. I understand the scene transfer too. I wasn't talking about the cut. I was talking about something that happens before the cut that you're referring to.

Another solution would have been to have a more visible splash in the bluish-yellow tarp in the distance.

The shape of the splash would have eliminated the rounded shape of the bluish -yellow tarp in the distance and there wouldn't have been two blue ball shapes on screen at the same time

  • i want to go to this world!!! :D

  • Wanna see more!!!!! Please inform me, if there's more!

  • Magnifique.... Comme quoi, les français sont très bon dans le cinéma d'animations.

  • I want to be from that world.

  • Definitely one of the more dynamic pieces.

...Am I the only one who thinks the creature is thinking with portals?

  • Thinkin' with Portals

  • And this is why kids shouldnt have dimensional warping fish monsters as pets, shit gets real

  • Great work! Beautiful things happening here... things that can only be in animation. Excellent concept and execution.

  • I want to live there.

  • Wow, gorgeous! The art style sort of reminds me of an anime called Tekkon Kinkreet.

  • This kicked flapjack's ass

  • gonna take bananas with me next time i go fishing

  • reminded me of a Gorillaz music video.

  • feels like it should be made into a game

  • wind waker?

  • hmmmmmok.

  • I'm so confused as to what went on in this animation.

  • @WalrusDance The kid is trying catch fishes with bananas supposedly after a lot of rain, the giant fish creature takes the bait and wants to play with the boy. They then show you the fish creature can sort of teleport whenever it goes into the water thats why it disappears without destroying anything. The boy jumps and the creature carries him to its world that it teleports to. They show you a magical world that they go to but then they pan out and show you its only on top of a giant building...

  • @trpbootan well i think it probably destroyed a building at 0:58

  • ♥ Lovely! ^__^ The style but also the musical atmosphere!

  • He loves him some bananas. Such an interesting little world.

  • MY bananas! they're MINE!

  • I have a question. I cant tell if the characters were traditionally animated and made with a 2d look or is it traditionally animated with 3d scenes. Is there a making of this short?

  • I have a question. I cant tell if the characters were traidionally animated and made with a 2d look or is it tradionally animated with 3d scenes. Is there a making of this short?
