  • groucho>>>>frank

  • i really don't know what to think of this :) not because it's not good fun and stuff, but because zeppo's wife left him for sinatra XD

  • Hello I must be going

  • Of course that's Groucho, an older Groucho who had grown a mustache instead of using greasepaint. The man was born in 1890, so he was 60 or 61 when he sang with Sinatra.

  • "Hooray for Captain Spaulding" it ain't.

  • Julius Henry Marx is the original name of "Groucho Marx". Nice to see him in his younger days with Frank, both turned out to be successful in their trade.

  • Love this

  • One hundred percent pure awesomeness. A legend of that time teams up with a young man who would become a legend of our time. And yes, Groucho could sing!

  • Thanks to Ava Gardner Frank was back in business with the movie" From here to eternity"It as her clout with the producers that got Frank the gig.

  • That is Groucho, since they started in the 30's, they do age a bit. Never seen this, thanks for sharing!! Whatever comedy model they have nowadays, they got it from theiradays.

  • i was just going to comment on this, when i realised i'd commented on it two years ago! i had absolutely no memory of watching it :)

  • I had no idea that Groucho performed with the Frank. How shallow of me. Thanks for posting this.

  • It's only money...Unless you are borrowing it...

  • the 2 greatest ever show biz stars together. fantastic. ty

  • What is Groucho's relation to Barbara?

  • "ex-brother-in-law": Barbara was married for some years to Groucho's brother, Zeppo.

  • think uncle Karl was proudd

  • Are they walking in front of a screen?

  • yes

  • Gotta love 50s "special effects",

  • I bet it was just as much an honor for Frank as it was for Groucho.

  • Talking about this movie, Groucho said that though Sinatra was no longer the biggest star in Hollywood, he had the courage to still act like he was.

Both were at relative low points in their career when they made this, but would go on to reach even greater fame.

  • that was tremendous, thank you

  • very nice... its good to see those 2 working together...good clip..thatnks for posting

  • Let's see someone - anyone - even try to write songs like that these days! Cleverness died along with that era. :-(

  • that era, will never come again, movies, music, unique

  • I don't think any era ever really repetes...

  • Thanks for putting this up! I was just looking for this clip, and here it is!

  • what was this from?

  • "Double Dynamite" - a 1951 movie with Jane Russell into the bargain (with whom Sinatra sings another Jule Styne/Sammy Cahn song)

  • One of the most fascinating combos in cinematic history ever. Eat your respective hearts out, Gibson&Glover!!

  • I love this song!

  • gran verdad...

  • Great truth, indeed!

  • GROUCH . . ò ò ...U... v

  • what film is this

  • its double dynamite :) you prolly already know by now, tho.

i was so happy to see them singing in the film! cos i love the rat pack and i melt everytime i hear groucho sing (i think lydia the tattooed lady might be one of my fav songs) so it was just a double whammy!

  • ("The poor shoonk without it, the girls don't give dates")

lolz isn't that the truth...shoot woman haven't change lolz

  • Great songs. Great comedy. It's amazing how many gags we see in films these days come from the Marx Brothers and Rat Pack films.

  • I wonder what Groucho thought of young Frankie?

  • very very nice sinatra is the man!

  • Frank reminds me of Zeppo (Marx) in this vid...

  • Frank reminded Zeppo's widow Barbara of Zeppo too. That's why she married Sinatra.

  • Really? That's interesting.

  • I GOTTA see this movie!

  • Love that Frank! Great video!

  • Utterly brilliant!

  • AWESOME

  • The movie is Double Dynamite (1951 RKO) also stared Jane Russell

  • whats the name of this movie? im only 21, I wasnt even born!

    --

    Sent from my Helio Ocean

  • i'm 57 and even i wasn't born.

  • My two heroes. Just love it.

  • 2 großartige Super-Künstler!!!

  • cute!

    Groucho loves the artwork!

funny how they were running in place with film behind them....

  • I love Frank and Groucho!

  • <3 Sinaattttrrraaaaaaaa...

  • This is a great clip with two of my favorite performers, they are about as good as it gets. Sadly though, this 56 second clip is the best part of the movie. Oh well. Thanks for posting this!

  • Groucho and Frankie on the same piece of film? I must be in Heaven!!

  • Hey firestarter, How can You not be a fan of the Marx brothers ? c'mon. Honk Honk !

  • Hoooonk! =D

  • not a fan of the marx brothers did you say? that is impossible.

  • fcgal: Not only is it impossible, IT'S BLASPHEMOUS!

  • I agree!

  • sam: I know, who DOESN'T like the Marx bros.?

  • For some reason a lot of chicks don't. Even moreso with the Three Stooges. *shrug*

  • 2 greats! Love it!

  • i'm not a fan of the marx brothers - but i love this.

  • Interesting that Sinatra would later marry Barbara Marx. Thanks for the clip.

  • classic is best. not 50 cent and all these geezas! what music we got now is just sound. theres no flow it all.sinatra is KING!

  • This is awesome. I love these 2

  • This was filmed 2 yrs. before I was born. I grew up with the beginning of TV & old movies.. Somehow I have missed this movie. I would love to see it. by the way "Hey Dudes!!!" I'm somebody's Old Mother& Grandmother who is saying I Love It.. & to think that I raised my children on Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin & Jethro Tull. I taught my boy's to appreciate all music & artistry. I can see that your parents did not..

  • Who's that skinny guy next to Groucho?

  • dude...that's FRANK SINATRA

  • That's Frank Sinatra you clueless dope!

  • Chill, my irony-free friend. I was kidding. Who else could that be next to Groucho, Ozzy Nelson?

  • Who's Ozzy Nelson?

  • You guys should watch "Frank Sinatra is Dead" music video - no worries, it's not a song dissing Sinatra. Sinatra Rules!

  • "The nicest people we know, are the ones who get their faces on dough?" It sounds like a Masonic reference to me.

  • catchy tune..:P

  • is that marx dude the inspiration for those glasses w/ the built in moustache? or am i thinking of someone else? oh and also, whettoeck comment was sooooooooo funny

  • "That Marx dude" is the inspiration for much of our modern comedy (and the nose glasses). I highly recommend the movies "Horsefeathers" and "Animal Crackers", for starters.

  • Durante HA HA ha ha

  • Groucho is great, and do I really need to say anything about Frank?

  • Great video. We in Yonkers, New York salute you!

  • Sinatra was 33 when the movie was made, and his career was on the skids. It would be almost seven years before it took a turn upwards again.

  • 7 years? Actually it was only 2 years, 1953 when Sinatra made his comeback in the role as Maggio in the movie From Here To Eternity. And Sinatra was actually 36.

  • this is SO the bombizzle my nizzle fo' shizzle. (translation = i respect the video put up here and wish to add it to my favorites list)

  • Thizzle! (translation = Thanks!)

  • Frank shines as a young singer with Groucho!nice Duo!!, also a Good Vocalist MARC JONES @ YOU TUBE Search, this Guy sings Pop/Jazz standards hope he get a break!check him out!!

  • omg i love this video lol

  • "It's Only Money" was supposed to be the original title of this film- but RKO decided to retitle it "Double Dynamite" before its release {"..as a tribute to Jane Russell's you-know-what", Groucho confided in a letter he wrote at the time}.

  • This was around the time that Frank was stuck with the end of his Columbia contract, with Mitch Miller picking corny tunes for his artists. The following year he goes to Capitol, and develops the swingin' pimpin' Frank persona (his best period). And yes, Groucho, the singing Marx brother, of "Lydia The Tattooed Lady" fame, sings with The Voice on this duet. Seems to be from a TV show.

  • If that's not Julius Henry Marx I will eat my hat!

  • lol ^_^

  • @ALSmithey As will I!!!

  • @ALSmithey Someone else uses the full name for emphasis, right?

Julius Henry Marx and Francis Albert Sinatra.

  • @doggysector That is indeed Groucho..... A young Groucho.

    jerrol19

  • @perrylamont Actually, Groucho was 61 at the time. Sinatra was 36.

  • @doggysector But MY!! how he came back.

  • @doggysector

Yes, that is Groucho Marx, walking along with (in front of a process screen at RKO, actually) & singing with Ol' Blue Eyes. This song was also released under the title of "Double Dynamite" in the early 50's. You are right about this being made during a horrible lull in Frankie's career. If it wasn't for his spectacular comeback thanks to "From Here to Eternity" and the classic albums he made at his new label (Capitol), who knows what would have happened to Mr Siinatra!

  • is this from a movie? if so what movie

  • Ummm...

  • Ummmm.... perhaps you should take some of your own advice mate. Here's a little "resurce" material imdb dot com/title/tt0043476/. Yes that is Groucho and frankly I don't see how you could have mistaken him for old "Schnozzola"

  • Jimmy Durante???? Are you crazy krist sake???

  • Good rear projection. Groucho and Frank are probably on a tread mill.

  • I wonder if Groucho knew even then that Frank would become the legend that we know him as.

  • Although i was born in the 70's, i love groucho, funny, funny man!!!!

  • love it! for as long as i live, frank sinatra will be my favorite singer. and groucho is so funny! i love him in the old marx brothers movies. thanks for posting! =]]

  • i love frances albert.

  • That man has to be the funniest person that has ever lived, groucho is pretty cool too.

  • This is so cute! Thanks!

  • I miss them!

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • I think that last backdrop crawl was Hollywood Boulevard.
