ok first of all this is not a lion fish it belongs to the order scorpaeniformes and the superfamily Cottoidea more commonly known as the sculpin or scorpion fish, however yes it is venomous. @Coeyzorz a sting from a lionfish would not kill an adult it would feel like a bad bee-sting my lionfish stung me once and its not that bad and no @riderinblack57 and @sanctainquisitio it is not harming the fish at all these type of fish can stay alive out of water for hours as long as they are kept moist.
