at first i didn't like thier new stuff because it was different, but then i learned about what inspired aaron and the rest of the band to compose these "strange" sounding songs. and once again it was genius and now i love every new song
Wait until the record label releases the high resolution version. It is currently only viewable on the Entertainment Weekly website. This is a low-resolution ripped version.
I'm sure mwY were the ones that opted to not spend much money on producing it. They don't want to waste needless amounts of money on a music video - it wouldn't surprise me if they thought making the video itself was selfish enough.
Honestly, just judging from their interviews and such. Aaron talks about the contradiction of preaching woe is the poor when they've got expensive guitars and equipment and everything. If they have an option to make a music video without a lot of production value (since money could be spent elsewhere)
Yeah - I'd understand if they had a history of DIY looking videos...but they don't. Most have had pretty good production values. I'm just wondering what changed.
Aye. I personally think it's pretty similar to some of their past ones. I mean January 1979 they just kind of performed in different costumes. Nice and Blue Pt. 2 they were in speedos and running around exercising. Paper Hanger they just kind of found some poverty stricken places and performed around them. I think this music video is probably their most expensive one to date, but that's just my perception (which could be highly wrong, haha).
Your looking into it too hard, my friend. The DIY feel is intentional. It isn't due to a lack of production values. They are simply going for that feel.
Aaron speaks against living in excess and owning things that aren't necessary (too much food, nice cars, etc.). Owning expensive instruments is absolutely necessary because they are professional musicians. If they were up there playing cheap instruments like Squires and Pearl starter kits, they would not sound anything like they do. They aren't playing those nice guitars to show off, they are playing nice guitars because it is how they live.
Aye, that's what i'm saying. I can't remember which interview it was, it's one floating around with Carousels playing in the background. But yeah, it's just kind of him thinking out loud about a lot of stuff and that's one thing he mentions. I agree with you.
A great music video for a really amazing song. I just love the story and wish I could learn the words but there are way too many to remember. :)
You guys were wonderful at the Glass House last night, it was such a better show than the El Ray. I hope you do some more LA area shows soon, I would totally go on tour with you ala the Dead if I could...

The video is cute...but man, are toothandnail tightening the purse strings? The production looks way down from previous MwY videos.

, I'm sure they'd be going that route.
