  • Iam fuckin horrified at how many havent spelled Bruces name correctly.. Take note @nightfall1970 its DICKINSON. not dickenson. call yourselfs metal fans..

  • bruce dickenson sings like the cowardly lion from the wizard of oz!!!......rob rules!!!!

  • halford is far better.....he can hit the note smooth,or he can hit the note almost with a marshall breakup....and he can take any note and squeeze it with the power of the gods!!!....ive seen both guys...bruce is good....but rob shakes the whole frikin p. a. with his high notes.....he is far more versital, better tone, better range....rob is 7 yrs older and sings better at 60 than bruce did in the 80's.

  • @wkunderwood2003 totally agree with you!!! Rob has much more control over his voice and he's extremely versatile!

  • Chris Jericho should punch Don Jamison in the face. All Don does is just yell really loud and make really lame insults towards him while Jericho actually knows his shit and what hes talking about. Don should really be listening to Jericho instead of yelling at him

  • Metal God? Come on...

This guys don´t want to accept the point of Bruce Dickinson is better by far than halford...

It´s obvious that this guys love Halford...

  • Jericho is no chump when it comes musical knowledge, you can see he really is passionate about metal and it's great, he didn't go on the show to promote anything, just as a pure metal head i love it. He held his own against the other three hosts that's for sure. Chris i love your music, but come back home to wwe please haha =)

  • Bruce Dickinson is WAY better, i seriosly want to kill those retards. i mean Halford by far better? fucking retards! dont get me wrongs, i love Halford. But Bruces voice is just the most amazing ever! and Iron Maiden are the best band ever

  • Ah, Bruce Dickinson by a hair there both good singers but I'm on Bruce Dickinson side with Iron maidens albumsThe Number of the Beast to Fear of the Dark were the best albums of the 80's to early 90's especially somewhere in time because I think somewhere in time is the best album of the 80's Breaking the law comes in second once you hear Bruce Dickinson voice or screaming you want to hear it over & over again so that why I'm on Bruce Dickinson side

  • lets face it. Ian Gillan would blow Halford and Dickinson away. Sweet Child In Time, You'll See The Line............

  • this is should not even be a discussion...its halford all the way i mean if bruce can come close to the notes on dream deceiver and victim of changes ill give him a million dollars....i like iron maiden but in everything priest wins hands down

  • @Priestfan782 okay first of all its about voice quality not how high a singer can go. and 2nd acutely Bruce Dickinson can hit notes like in songs you named! check out Run to the Hills. he hits a G5 in it and at the end he goes up to a brief B5, Number of the best he hits a brief A5. Flight of Icarus he hits a falsetto G5 that thrills up to B5 briefly. Aces High he hits a G5 at the end. Rime of the Ancient Mariner he hits a G5. unless you cant remember Bruce was nicknamed the human air raid siren

  • maiden kills judas priest.trunk is a know it all

  • Ha, wonder what Kerry King's problem with Celtic Frost is.

  • rob halford kicks the shit out of bruce live, just watch iron maiden behind the iron curtain, bruce is terrible on there

  • bruce kulick did not suit kiss, i never cared for him, vinnie vincent was way better,

  • Personally, I have never listened to Scott Halford (Don't blame me, i'm not a know-all-bands, I would sya my age, but feels stupid), and i like a lot Iron Maiden, but that Bon Jovi kinda offended me a bit, i mean, i like good trashy metal and hard rock, but I also like Bon Jovi too (in other words hard rock pop).

  • Maybe you need to see this: Halford Resurrection Santiago Chile 2010 HD

    (search in youtube)

  • Say that we don't want the Bruce's jumps and all of that, is like if we don't want the Angus Young show (run, throw on the floor, etc) on the stage... Maiden is all energy. about the voice... well, just one thing makes the difference: Bruce sounds pretty good now. Have you listen Halford trying to sings Painkiller now? He can't. Bruce can sing The Trooper or The Number of The Beast very close to the 80's style. I'm fan of both, but Bruce is still in one piece (vocally), comparing to Halford

  • these guys has no idea what they are talking about i bet the guy in the middle havent even lissend to maiden that mutch... this made me respect jericho so much UP THE IRONS!!!!

  • Halford cant hit the notes anymore.Give me Dickinson any day

  • Fuck "operactic stile". Metal become repetitive because "operatic style". They are no opera singer, they are rock singers. I can´t understand why follow the criterion of the opera. I prefer acid-heavy sing of Metal God: more agressive and free. If I want to hear opera... not going to hear Dickinson (and like frontman, he jump and make stupid things..) jajaaja (many Iron Maiden fans will be angry with this comment).

  • Rob Halford vs. Bruce Dickinson? There is no doubt that Rob Halford is the quintessential Heavy Metal vocalist. When people are screaming in high tone to imitate Heavy Metal vocal, you know that they are imitation Rob Halford. Halford is technically a better singer but as someone in the panel said, Bruce Dickinson probably makes better frontman.

  • I love both singers, too me both are Metal Gods, but Rob Halford's voice is crazy, he can sing in every tone, listen ALL the Judas Priest albums and comment

  • lool jericchoo

  • EDDIE TRUNK WE DONT WANT FATASS POSERS LIKE YOU IN METAL

  • @wastinglove69

he grew up during metal's peak while you weren't even alive. Does he have to dress up like a metal head at his age? lol get over yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • We don't want that in Metal? Fucking poser comment.

  • this show is my guilty pleasure - this one and Top Gear

  • sorry rob sucks today. Bruce>Rob

there is no denying it. Bruce has better range today, better stamina, and by far better stage presence

  • The clown with the grey button down shirt can kiss my ASS!

  • Bruce Dickinson!

  • i like halford's singin but dickenson is so much more intense, more voice strong,n a more entertaining frontman...

BRUCE DICKENSON ALL THE WAY \m/

    UP THE IRONS

  • chris jericho rocks

  • BRUCE!!!!!!

  • ROB HALFORD !

  • bruce dickinson!!!!!!!

  • Iron Maiden! Bruce Dickinson!

  • whats cooler than halford stompin around stage? bruce wearing a british red coat uniform with a british flag singin the trooper. dickson wins by far

  • @nmillwater33

dont forget the hooded cloak n masquerade mask he wears for dance of the dead

  • I can see how Rob Halford is the 'better singer' if you're talking strictly in range and tone, but Bruce is the greatest metal vocalist by a long shot. His presence on stage is unbeatable in the metal genre.

  • bruce is more talenteed thenm halford is and that is obvious. but both bruces and robs highest notes are both C#6

  • Dickenson. Hands down.

  • all it is is personal preference but rob can hit higher notes while holding vibrato without trouble bruce strains sometimes but hey whatever matter of opinion and my opinion is that no one can touch the metal god

  • @JudasFuckingPriest69 no one, but his boyfriend XD, Rob sucks, I can hit high notes to, anyone can, Bruce has a real voice, and dosnt sound like a little girl, and also can hold his voice for like 18 seconds, *Flight of icarus, hallowed be thy name, where eagles dare, Number of the beast* Best vocals, Bruce Dickinson

  • to me, it's a tie. but since these idiots are voting halford, i'll go dickinson.

they didn't even give good arguments toward rob's way. i could think of thousands of arguments to augment rob over bruce. jericho was BY FAR better at proving his case. and he was every bit correct. thank God for jericho.

the only reason they chose rob over bruce is a) bruce obviously hates trunk and the gang and b) rob doesn't hate trunk and the gang. simple.

    retards. go chris jericho!

  • All Jericho did though was talk about Bruces persona as a front man, he didn't talk about his vocal ability. What he said may well be true i.e. Bruce is all jumping about etc on stage, but this was meant to be a 'debate' about singing, not running about on stage, LOL. Mind you, I don't think you'll ever get metal heads to fully agree on something like this \m/

  • he called him the most influential and revolutionary voice of metal. that's a pretty good vocal argument. nobody used ANY real vocal arguments with rob. it was like, "wtf?"

vocally, i can see why people think rob would win. but yet nobody commented on it. it was like, "whaaa?"

  • Well yeah he did say that, but even that is very arguable - like the others said, Rob has been around for a lot longer, and has been influencing heavy metal artisits for longer therefore. They could have used better arguments, but I get the feeling this segment of the show (we don't get the show here) is for a bit of a laugh LOL. I'd say Rob and Bruce are the two most influential metal vocalists of all time, and this argument comes down to a matter of personal preference.

  • i wouldn't really call it an opinion on who has the most influence. all you have to do is listen around and listen to some of the more iconic singers.

for example, geoff tate's influence is obviously drawn from bruce. same with axl rose. michael kiske appears to have some influence drawn from bruce as well.

the only people that come to mind with rob halford is tim "the ripper" owens and... i can't think of a name right now, but whatever. XD

  • Arguably, those singers show the influence of more operatic styled metal singers in general - at the time, thats Halford, Dickinson and Dio. Axl Rose is his own style I believe, you hear it and think Axl, not any other singer.

Queensryche (in one form or another) has been around for basically the same length of time as Maiden (from 1980-ish) so I'd say Tate fell in to the style before Dickinson came along - Dickinson wasn't with Maiden for their first two albums, as we know.

  • Phew I ran out of characters haha! I was going to add, one dude who I can think of off the top of my head that is clearly influence by Halford is the singer from 3 Inches of Blood.

And I want to say how cool it is to have a decent discussion/debate with a fellow metal fan! :D \m/

  • ugh, the computer deleted my reply.

anyhow, i agree. these debates are fun. ;D we should replace that trunk guy and his super retarded minions.

anyway, i think axl, although he is very distinguished and has one of the most recognizable voices in all of music, i can still see that he draws much influence from bruce, both in showmanship and that unbelievable vibrato. as for tate, i'm almost positive i've heard him see in an interview say he draws direct influence from bruce.

  • I had a nosey around the interwebs and Tate has said he draws influence from Bruce and Rob, so that's a draw ;D LOL! Priest and Halford are my all time favourites too, they kick ass lol. I think Bruce, like Rob, has always had an amazing voice, right from the Samson days :) they are just two amazing singers who can never be bettered, in my opinion :D

  • @BecksT1984 wow. i can't find a disagreement in this post. this debate is a draw. ;D

  • @BecksT1984 we cannot underestimate bruce's samson days. yeah, they're ancient and some have never even heard them, but his voice on those two samson albums are killer.

it's kinda weird that i'm defending bruce. yeah, i'm a die-hard bruce fan, but priest and halford are my real all-time favourites. XD they made me fall in love with metal. odd...

  • Halford by far, Dickinson is a great front man, but not the better vocalist. Halford can sing more than metal, to whoever made that retarded comment he can't - listen to some ballads he has done, fantastic.

  • hey i was thinking the same thing, the canadian was the onley one their who knows about real singing

  • WTF does Trunk and the 2 comedians know about vocals???

  • if all you fagtards who are saying halford is better beacause you guys think he has a wider range then i am about to prove you all wrong

    halfords range is D2-B5

    dickinsons range is C#2-B5

C#2 is lower so bruce has a wider range. and bruce has a more musicley gifted voice then halford and thats a fact. bruce could singe any type of music where as halford can onley sing metal and nothing else.

  • i would like to retract my "common sense" statement, i said in rage as i saw my hero get ripped apart by fans on their comments, both singers are incredible, but to me halford will always be the metal god, so apologies to everyone i have offended

  • This show is fucking pitiful

  • no he dident, ian gillan did. rob started high notes in 1974 but gillan started in 1970. bruce has a better voice and a wider range which is undeniable

  • Geoff Tate is better than both of them anyway.

  • he is amazing, but i don't think he is better, but amazing

  • Halford is better. He practically created the scream in heavy metal.

  • @metallicguns, great comment i agree 100%.

@theripper9207 your comment is unfair. live after death is bruces worst concert, listen to hammersmith odean 1985 or rock in rio 2001 where bruces voice is way better live then in studio

@neatonik your just fuckng reatrded. bruce has a wider range then halford. both bruces and halfords highest notes ever are B5 but rob can onley go to D2 in low notes but bruce can go all the way down to C#2 which is lower then D2. SUCK ON THAT BITCH

  • you sir have strategically proven me wrong, his voice was much better in the hammersmith, i am not discreditting bruce at all, but his voice was doing that his whole career, as long as you make the attempt, and the emotion is there, you will always be a great vocalist, but bruce backs out of alot of notes and song phrases. while halford (no punn inteded) always goes balls out

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for agreeing! lol

  • I love this show but Eddie pissed me off when he said we don't want that in metal...refering to Dickinson's stage antics. What The Fuck!!?? That's what Iron Maiden is all about...energy and intensity. So to say we don't want that in metal is just ignorant Eddie Trunk.

  • that is true, but the question was singer, not front man, rob to this day can the notes farely well like he did way back, dickinson all though his voice has improved, sings around them

  • Ya I agree, they have both really kept it up, I see what what you are saying, but overall I would say Dickinson's voice has improved the most, his live pipes are better than back in 92 doing Fear of The Dark. Rob's vocals have consistently stayed the same since the 70's. For me it'd be a toss up of who's better know.

  • i don't know why, it may be my bias, but when rob sings i feel every word, bruce is a great singer, but the point jericho was making is that dickinson's show makes him the best, he kept dodging his voice

  • Ya I agree, if there's one thing for sure, NOBODY can scream like Rob did on Painkiller.

  • Not even Rob. He could never duplicate that style, ever; Though, Bruce can sing as best as always cept for a few songs and the scream from the number of the beast.

  • Ya Bruce is at a high point right now I would say. You are right by the way, I heard him try the scream in #Of The Beast Live...it wasn't great, but other than that, I can't remember any weak live performances from Dickinson.

  • @metallicguns95 i prefer dissident aggressor

    check out that song

  • @jongmagee Fantastic as well you're right!

  • @metallicguns95 uh...Bruce obviously can thats why he was Knicknamed the Air Raid Siren. and dont bother replying with "Well Halford was Knicknamed the Metal God" cause he got that name before Bruce even got famous

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan I didn't say Bruce couldn't scream, I'm saying on nobody can do the Halford style on Painkiller quite like Rob.

  • Agreed. Being a great showman does not make him the better vocalist.

  • @metallicguns95 Rob helfred sucks, he sounds like a 12year old girl getting assfucked

  • @metallicguns95 he's just jealous cause he's so fat he can't run for 10 yards.

    also, chris cornell ftw

  • @shadowofmorgoth Haha, ya, I mean don't get me wrong I love That Metal Show and Eddie is great on it but sometimes he annoys me sooo much. It errks me lol

  • Jericho's comment near the end is just silly..."You're from Jersey. You got Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, that's worse than Avril Lavigne!"

  • Bruce all the way...His voice has amazing depth!

  • Not to you sir specifically, but all you little fucks are so quick to pick a side, but none of you bitches can defend your opinions, i dare one of you sad fucks to challenge my word so all your little youtube friends will see get smacked down. Halford is God! I love Bruce too, but halfords depth has always been there while dickinson's was drowned in booze...

  • bruce is amazing, but not so much depth, look up beyond the realms of death 1978 live, just to here vocal depth

  • Comment removed

  • i agree 110%, except for the eddy part, maiden has earn their fame, but yes vocally, to me anyway, it is halford, no comparison

  • I love rob but bruce is a million times better.

  • Halford all the way! Screaming for Vengeance bitch!

  • fuck yeah bro, Praise the metal god!

  • bruce is a way better vocolist what are thesse guys smoking

  • common sense, you obviously don't even listen to priest or you would retract your rather blind and oblivious opinion

  • Comment removed

  • @00heavymetalislife00 I'd play down the Anvil if I were you. I'd rather Avril myself. :p

  • @00heavymetalislife00 and rush!

  • @00heavymetalislife00

    dont forget annihilater

  • @00heavymetalislife00 What's wrong with you?! You forget fucking RUSH!!!

  • @pillsareyummy added rush :), i forget their canadian

  • @00heavymetalislife00 didnt mean to remove that comment...

    what i said was

4:14; the canadian comment is just wrong because canada has voivod, anvil, and 3 inches of blood; RUSH, and gorguts

  • i agree with jericho, Bruce all the way

  • dickinson is the fucking metal god!!

  • Dickinson for President!!!

  • go dickinson!

  • Normally, the throwdowns haven't been that throdownish. This episode's throwdown is what I'd call a TMS throdown.

  • Jericho and Fozzy rocks!...
