Ah Watchmen. The one thing that will forever be etched into my mind from that movie is giant Dr Manhattan walking through Vietnam blowing Charlie up with his mind XD
Dude, ignore ALL negative comments. This video is frakkin' BRILLIANT! Granted, you have a great soundtrack to work with but you worked it for everything it was worth. BTW the multiple screens were a great touch, we need more of those, they SO accentuated the mood. I want you to be the cinematrographer on the movie they make of my book.
Each character you matched up with was perfect, i was worried for a sec that you would pick Rei as the Dr M, was so pleased you pick Shinji just brilliant.
@belgianmobster17 True, Though in regards of comparing both their stories, Shinji has a lot more in common. Not just the emoness but the fact that only they can change the course of events, but neither really want too.
....um, this could be just me, but a lot of these clips I don't recognize. are some of these clips from the aired (original) versions? 'cause some of those episodes I saw the director's cut versions (I watched the whole series on the platinum version, not to mention got the other ending)
That was an amazing AMV! I too love the idea of using the mini-screens throughout the AMV. I saw it not only as a homage to the origin of Watchmen, but also to show that there's more to Eva than meets the eye (I'm talking about how there are several clips shows at once as opposed to one scene being shown). The casting was well done (especially on Shinji, Kaworu's, and Misato's parts), the lip synching was perfect, and I got goosebumps during the "save us" line. 5/5
great job, i love how the miniscreens look like comic book panels. as similar as watchmen and evangelion are, i didn't think this here was posible to do. i think its really cool how you used toji for the commedian and the entry plug for the glass shattering
Eva and Watchmen, in my opinion are alot alike, in their fields they are the greatest of all time, plus they both have a manmade "God". Watchmen has Dr. Manhattan, and Eva has Rei, the one thing Eva has over Watchmen, is it's controversy. This is the perfect way to show these two together, great job!
true, but Akira is that too the movie and japanese comics. not exactly the one that broke it in anime. hell NGE uses a story that was told alot of time just like watchmen but told in a completely different way. so maybe similar in that effect you might say.
Evangelion was an anime before manga, so Akira has the manga thing for sure, but they are not completely comparable(manga fans will point out the movie still is not as detailed as the manga though).
You are missing the point, the commentary is staggering in Evangelion and Watchmen. That's what makes them the flagships of their mediums.
@Omegadge They take apart what's most popular in their respective medium's media: Watchmen, a comic book, took apart the Superhero, while Evangelion, an Anime, took apart the Super Robot Pilot.
Whoa... quite impressive I must say however a lot of the times the mini screens felt out of place and there should have been some border between them and the main screen. 4/5
which i suppose makes it easier but with a lot of work I can see this work with Vegas and it would look like stop motion but also possable with windows movie maker.
That is true. Each of the programs have their own strong and weak points. I use Premiere 6.0 because it's one of few I already have and am familiar with it.
I've got chills going up and down my spine now. Can't see..... too much.... awesome! Fantastic editing. I actually enjoyed this more than the actual Watchmen trailer. :) I am so subscribing.

1:32-1:40 - Wow, that bit of dialogue between Manhanttan and Laurie actually goes pretty well with that scene between Shinji and Misato in EoE.

"Why would I want to save a world I no longer have a stake in..." Shinji/Doc Manhattan would say that XD

The clips are from the movies: End of Evangelion; and Death and Rebirth.
The ones that are causing the confusion are from Death and Rebirth which recaps (and re-edits) the boardcast versions.

Anyone else ever get the feeling that Evangelion is to anime as Watchmen is to graphic novels?
Omegadge 2 years ago 15
Well...considering that they are both deconstructions of their respective mediums, it's easy to see how they are very similar.

No, I rather see Akira as manga's Watchmen.
