Like Radiohead expounded on the post-rock movement, ambience, and songs in the same vein as "In A Warm Place" by Nine Inch Nails (no, i'm not comparing the bands, just the songs).
This is almost exactly the kind of stuff I imagined while listening to this song. Like I was deep in space or on some far away lonely, icy planet. I also imagined myself flying through a psychedelically coloured wormhole or something. In general it gives me a feeling like I'm somewhere where nobody else is with me and nobody else has ever been there.
There is only one piece of artwork in the world, and it was developed by one man. A man who lived where there was... contradiction. Making this piece of artwork was the man's only purpose. He spent years creating his artwork. In fact, it took centuries, millenniums. And when he finished this piece of artwork... he noticed something. It was himself. This man was known as Treefingers. He had placed all of what he was into the earth, most notably the whimsy willowtrees of England. This song is that
this music is amazing. The sound seems to match and stimulate contemplative thought. it makes me feel like a baby in a womb, experiencing the world for the first time.
WOW the artwork you put on rivera paradise video was just awesome. Thanks for taking the time to open peoples minds up a bit, You are a hero- your brother in peace GUITARPRISM--PROPS
I don't like Radiohead very much but I appreciate that they deliver music like this to mass audiences. Remember this song is nothing original from the point of view of electronic and ambient music. Anyway thanks to RH for this, some people would never listen to such music if it wasnt on a popular album.
it does, especially at night, its so peaceful, which i love about kid a and this being "the eye of the storm" because this is so peaceful, when the rest of the album is brilliant, yet disturbing, which is y Kid A is hands down my fav radiohead album =), i also agree about it being unsettling and dark
I just love this song. This really takes me back to when Kid A first came out. This song is just to atmosferic and creepy. Thanks for the post - great stuff.
exactly what i think people like radiohead, david lynch, stanley kubrick had in mind - provoke intepretation - love this. Please check out my radiohead covers....

If you people like this song, also check out "October Sunshine" by Mercury Rev (amazing band, by the way). It's very similar.

Radiohead said at an interview that they were heavily influenced by Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol.2 during making of this piece.

i love how peaceful this song is while the rest of the songs on the album were crazy, its almost like this is the eye of the storm that is Kid A

I always think this is the most intense song on the album. There's something that is deeply unsettling in the sound of the song...
I do think it fits perfectly with the dark nature of the album. Creepy album that is perfect for night-time listening.
