Yes, the two of them and a few other writers used to have these "gatherings" at a local pub and spring their new ideas and plots on each other. Lewis had been an avowed atheist for most of his life but Tolkien and Hugh Dyson, Professor of Reading at Oxford University, had a profound influence on Lewis. When i say "satanists" I guess I'm referring mostly to the Scandinavian Black Metal guys. MANY of them base their music/lyrics on LotR. Interesting stuff!
