Was this the story about the man who cried pearls? When I read this book I frequently forgot that I was not reading a biography. The story the Kite Runner had the emotional honesty that it is seems difficult to find in people you meet.

Khaled Hosseini is such a wonderful author. You can feel the passion for writing that he speaks of in his work, and I enjoyed both of his books immensely. In fact they inspired me to get "back in the saddle" as they say, with my own abandoned writings. :)
