  • i use an aux cord to pc and an adaptor to my guitar and it it sounds the same.

  • do u always get that noise/static at the beginning of the song?

  • does the m-audio fast track usb work on guitar rig 4 do you know? i cant manage to work it

  • does it have phantom power?

  • @TooRellOfficial nope. i actually recommend that you get one that has, these things are cheaper than guitar pedals anyways.

  • @TooRellOfficial sure. it's a regular m-box in many ways

  • I don't get not getting any sound do I need to plug my pc speakers into the fast track,or shoud I just be able to hear it with my pc speakers plugged in pc?

  • how do I connect the mic to work with Garageband? What are the settings? I went to input source and I can only select built in mic or built in input. Can you help me set it up?

  • hey i hope you read this. i have tried to hook up the exact same fast track on the video to my gretsch guitar. it picks it up, but i get no sound from it.

Can you tell me your settings?

  • so is a mic recommended to record your amp or does this line in have good quality

  • @Jamalsish mic to recrod your amp is always the best solution, but it's not vital. that's the point of this little box. just plug it in, and use effects on your pc/mac, or just connect your amp to the fast track box.

  • @millieguitarcrasher wha does vital mean :P sry...

  • @Jamalsish

    IDKLOL:O!

  • actually it means necessary

  • @millieguitarcrasher oh mmkay

  • Will this item work with overloud TH2 and Peavey Revalver Mk.III.V software?

  • @MRWHITE3535 i don't really know what that is, sorry, but it's like any soundcard / interface, so it shouldn't really matter as long it's an up to date software.

  • Check my original songs, recorded with m-audio. Nice sounds u got there :)

  • @Dyarkulus sounds good :) funny how much response / views i got, it was just random and fun for 2 days, and i don't even use it.. haha. but i'll continue to answer all the questions i guess!

  • @TakinOvaProductions Sorry for being slow. Well the newer version of the fast track usb do have phantom power, which should cost about the same as this version. And then you have the fast track pro (which has phantom power and tons of inputs and outputs), costs more though, up to you! :)

  • I find the USB connected one to be f'n terrible for noise. It picks up the hard drive so you have this crappy sounding buzz throughout. And if you layer several tracks together, you have many tracks with buzz, and the buzz just compounds! I feel I should have gone with something different.

  • @chico280 Hm, that is odd. Never been any buzz to me (when i use proper software, and guitar amps). Try another software (or, just another computer, or settings on your software/computer).

  • Hey, just a lil help, i am confused. I bought a M audio fast track... Should i get it exchanged by a 'fast track pro' ???I mean is there alot of difference we can use?? please help

  • @mudithead Not necesarry if your just using it for home demoing / recording, with you as the only musician. But if you don't mind spending extra cash you simply get a some longer lasting quality, 2 xlr inputs, midi input / output, 4 jack inputs (!!!), proper stereo speaker inputs (the red and white inputs) and much more controls on the fast track itself. So you basically got everything you need for a professional studio, in a small box with the fast track pro. But do you need it? Up to you! :D

  • @mudithead no, it's basically the same thing, with more outputs, AND you can use +48 (phantom power or whatever) which just means that you are enabled to use condenser microphones (not dynamic microphones like the sm58, just in case you didn't know). so that could be vital to some.

  • Comment removed

  • @TakinOvaProductions Scroll down the comments to read more, but basically: Condenser mics need phantom power (which you can get from a seperate pre-amp cause the m-audio don't have phantom power), but dynamic mics (sm-58 for example) is okey without. You gotto make sure the sound settings are set (either in your control panel or the settings in your software) to use the m-audio fast track as soundriver for line in, and also line out, if you wan't to use speakers plugged into the fast track!

  • WTF? It isn't a test of M-Audio Fast Track.

  • @szymondrejewicz If you haven't noticed, it's a video with a test clip of me using it for recording guitar tracks:)

  • hey very nice vidz!

but i have a question if u dont mind.

i just got two a m audio box the other day & my blue bird mic doesnt seem to work for none of them.im use to using a m box mini so this m audio thing i dont understand.what mic should i use? im so upset!

  • @lordgeemoney Ah. I believe that the Blue Bird Microphone is a condenser microphone? In that case, in needs what's call "phantom power", wich you won't get from the m-audio, so you what you want to do now is to get yourself a pre-amp for the microphone to power it up, and then into the m-audio :)

  • @millieguitarcrasher i understand.thank you so much!

  • @millieguitarcrasher are there any mics that dont need phantom power?

  • @lordgeemoney Condenser mics needs phantom power, Dynamic mics (example: Shure sm-58) don't =)

  • are you plugged direct in? is this the music you've recorded using the fast track?

  • @adamdonald89 yup :)

  • ITS MOTHERFUCKING VOLUMES vvvvvvvvvvv

  • will this work with pro tools 9 software ?

  • @volumesband yup :)

  • Hey does this sound card work with Logic pro 9?

  • @khash2 yes :)

  • Can I use a USB condenser mic with this "fast track" interface or am I amble to use a MXL MXL 990 Condenser Microphone instead of the USB Version..... I am debating between the two, and am considering this Pro-Tools Package that comes with the "Fast Track" interface... Please help!

  • @iCANDY0714 I'm not sure if I understand your question. You can't use condenser mic without having a pre-amp that has "phantom power" to power up the mic. The fast track usb is great, but probably not for you. Spend some extra cash =).

  • Trying to get the hang of this thing. When I plug my guitar into the back. I get almost NO sound. A get a little fuzz and can't figure out how to get it to read my guitar. But I can still hear it loud and clear the the mix is all the way to the left with headphones. I did it while connecting my amp too. I get to much noise though, and WAY to much feedback.... And advice?

  • has anyone tried to connect a microkorg to the fast track?

i've been trying, but no luck. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Nice job! Ive got a question. So I have an audio interface but when I want to record a whole song it doesnt fit because of the latency. Has this one a good latency and can you do multirecording?

Sry for my bad english, greetz from Germany!

  • @DJR100ful latency is not a problem :) Of course, since I use Mac Book Pro 17" with Thunderbolt processor (or whatever), i have no problems at all. Just make sure you have an average good computer.

  • is it possible to use your own amp and pedal effects then plug into the m-audio and finally into the pc?

will it pick up your pedals?

  • @metalliholic Yes it will :) but in that if you want to use your own effects and not amp simulations like on garageband and guitar rig 3, you should really get a little pre-amp box to have in the middle of your pedalboard and the m-audio, OR mic up your amp with an Sm-57 through the vocal line in.

  • @millieguitarcrasher I see what you mean, thanks!

  • Hey brother i just brought pro tools m-powered essential with M-audio fast track USB. when i got it i jus plugged it into the computer right away and tried playning i then read the manual and it said do not plug in the interface before installing the driver. so i then restarted the computer, installed the driver and then plugged it in.. i then fucked around with the control panel input, output settings to get the device and tried playing in guitar rig 4 but it sounded really bad but no lat.

  • @MrDohmah So are you getting any sound? Well. You don't need the crappy cd that comes with it, use your own softwares, so yeah. Go into the settings of your software and set the fast track to be your sound drive for input, and if you wish also your output.

  • Does M Audio fast track pro supprt Fruity loops 9?? Please help me out

  • @pheyah It basically supports everything. It works just like a regular sound drive for your computer :)

  • @pheyah Yeah, im using it for that

  • please help me :D i have a problem when recording guitar in cubase, and i have the same m-audio as you. i keep picking up feedback similiar to one on the beggining of your track. everytime i use some preset with lots of distortion etc... and i also hear my backing track like its overdubing the track i'm recording :( i? dont know if i explained it well...

  • @jutjub7pavle Ah, well. You should use a db-filter or something similiar. It makes all sounds lower then a choosen point not hearable, and will remove all kind of feedback that comes when you aren't playing.

  • Please help =)

I am a vocalist and I want to record me singing to some ready backing tracks so that it's of nice quality.

What do I need? What do you think of M-AUDIO Fast Track USB + mic Rode nt1-a?

Has to be affordable but quality as well.

    Thank you

  • do you know if it is compatible with mixcraft 5?

  • so i was thinking of getting the presonus audiobox, but both sound tight, and i can get the m audio in a local store (which is always better).

I'm also thinking of gettin a compressor and a voice pre amp. i really like presonus ones. Is it ok to use, or matching the brands wud work better?

  • @JonhnyGrave108 I'm not familiar with the presonus, but you won't be dissapointed if you wish to record acousticly, use your computer as an amp, record electric music as a one man band at home, or record band demos. And it supports well using compressors and pre amps with it.

  • i am getting no sound through my usb. only through line in, which doesnt allow any inputs into the input jack to work.

  • @DJLS3k Hm I'm not quite sure if I get your problem. Can't you u get sound through speakers connected to the output of the fast track? Well here is the main reason for not getting any sound at all. Go into the settings of your software and set the fast track to be the sound drive for input, and also for output if you wish to use speakers or headphones through the usb.

  • Oh yeah but in tascam you have three inputs the guitar , mic and phones ! I'll try it

  • @realjuvelive yes, and if that's what you need, go for it! :D

  • @millieguitarcrasher Do you know what do they use a midi usb interface for ?

  • Thank you my friend for answering my questions but I don't think that m-audio is a good interface today I bought tascam us-100 waiting to receive .. what do you think ? :)

  • @realjuvelive I'm sure it's great :) Good luck with your recordings! The fast track is brilliant for easy, homemade recordings with a professional sound. It offers nothing else but one input for instrument and one for microphone, and that's the point :)

  • can u hear urself in tha headphones?

  • @KiddGuap Sure you can. You can use speakers or headphones for monitor. I recommend head phones.

  • How does it work ? power?

  • @realjuvelive It is usb powered :)

  • @millieguitarcrasher you mean all what I need is an a to b usb cable ?

  • @realjuvelive you don't need anything extra. everything comes with it :) but yeah.

  • what does this fast track do anyways.....is it just the easier way to plug guitar in computer? so will this help with the latency......like delay and stuff? And last question.....if i have a keyboard(ex; yamaha keyboard) and in want to plug in computer as a midi....with fast track will it help me to avoid delay? thank you

  • @sicnatarock It simply gives you an easier and more effective way to record, with a professional result. It's the easier way to record music home. and yes.

  • this is the old fast track...the new one is better....

  • @clydegwaps1 Probably

  • Dude this is an awesome riff.

  • @fyourcouchnigga Thank you. Honestly, it's just an improv i did to test this thing, but yeah. I'll probably get some music up in a while :)! Thank you again and subscribe!

  • You think the fast track can replace an amp? Cause mine sucks to play metal..

So instead of buying an expensive amp, maybe I should buy the fast track, let the program make me some crazy metal sound and use my pc as output.. You think that' will work?

  • @TrustairXL I would not really recommend you to do that. Get a great amp to play your favorite music. Good amps for hardcore styles are randall, mesa boogie. (not peavey for god sake). If you want an amp you should go for an actual amp :)

  • @millieguitarcrasher wow, dont ever talk trash on a peavy. yeah look at the peavy 5150, or 6505. yeah, they are some of the best for metal.

  • @macc300 I'm certainly not, haha. It's just not versatile at all.

  • @millieguitarcrasher lol yeah i see what you mean.

  • @macc300

  • im setting up my home studio and i have the first gen m audio box. i hooked everything up properly to my imac but im not getting any sound from the mic into protools. what am i doing wrong or not doing?

  • @cristiantyler The very usual reason is that you haven't chosen the fast track to be the output sound drive or the input sound drive (output sound drive: if plug speakers into the fast track. input sound drive: to plug in instruments and mics). You got to do that on your mac settings OR / AND your software settings.

  • I purchased the TC Helicon G guitar/vocal pedal do you know if it will work thru the m-audio and play thru the computer mixer...I am interested in purchasing the m-audio and using my computer but dont want to waste the money if it wont work, any advise would be appreciated...thanks

  • @jimmyriche It would for sure work, though i personally cannot say that i've ever tried it myself. But if you know that the pedal is good, i can asure you that the fast track usb is simple to use and gives professional results :)!

  • Hey, how can i get the exact same sound from my amp, i plug in guitar -> effects -> amp -> but how can i plug in the amp to the sound interface?

  • @Q8BrutalRocker you just plug the head on your amp or your combo into the fast track with a jack cable. The best thing is to just use amp simulators like guitar rig 3 or use a guitar pre amp (a smaller box that you plug your guitar into, and then into the fast track).

  • i have lost my start up disc, trying to find out were to get a copy.

  • @phamilyandkash Probably got to download it, or see if you can buy it seperately. You don't need the start up disc however.

  • @greggzccfclfc Yeah. I have a direct output from my amp I am going to try and put straight into the guitar side. Hopefully that will do something...

  • I just bought this thing and it does record anything. It doesn't even read anything as an output into my computer. I have the latest software and drivers, and even the volume is turned up, but nothing is happening! Do you have a solution?

  • @steeldragonjovi What software are you using? you gotto go to settings either on your computer / mac or into your software and make the fast track the sound drive for in (enabling it to record) and out (enabling to listen through head phones or speakers plugged into the fast track.

  • @millieguitarcrasher Yeah, I did all that stuff. It works when I put my microphone into it, but it still doesn't pick anything up when I plug my guitar straight in.

  • @steeldragonjovi wow.. then it should work, so it's hard for me to find it out for you, you should keep checking basic things like cable, your guitar. oh and also. it is important that the track you are recording your guitar on (on of the layers, you know, one track for every instrument) is recording in mono. try both mono 1/2 or mono 2/2.

  • @millieguitarcrasher Yeah, I'm just a little frustrated that it's not a plug and play piece (not for me, anyway). Thanks for your help though. I plan to record the mic anyway, not that I have much of another choice...

  • thinking of getting one, I've got a SM57 and some XLR cables lying around that a relative gave me so I wanna close mic my guitar amp. Would this be okay? I don't wanna bother buying it if it sounds no different to plugging an XLR to Jack cable directly into the line-in of my iMac.

  • @StockholmSyndrome08 Yeah it will :) i've done it and it's good.

  • Hey, real quick...how do you use this product? I'm 50 yrs old already and don't have 20 years to figure this thing out. So, how does it record? Where is the record button? Where are the rewind and fast forward buttons? Why can't I get it to record? Why can't I get it to anything? Does it come with instructions? I saw it comes with a book on foreign languages. That's nice if I ever take a trip around the world! I'll now how to say "Do not use in dusty or damp areas." in almost every language.

  • @1971SuperLead Well, this is not a recording device. It's simply some kind of "sound driver" og pre amp, to improve the sound quality (necessarily much) that is coming from your microphone or guitar when recording. You need a studio software on your computer. Like Garageband (mac only), audacity (free & easy) or pro tools (more advanced but professional). Then you simply go to the settings of the studio software and set up the Fast Track to be the input sound driver.

  • hi, im having problems with my m-audio fastrark. why cant i use session with my windows 7? it says it cant find the hard ware? but i already plug my fastrack into my usb

  • @bearthanyou you gotto go into the settings in your computer (control panel) OR into the settings of your software and change the sound driver input to be the fast track usb (also output, if you have your phones or speakers plugged in the fast track).

  • Is the sound card USB 2 or 1.1?

  • how do you connect your amp and pedals to this

  • @cmacguinness87 Amp: plug the top of your stack (or the combo, if that's what you have) into the fast track instead of your cabinet / speaker. Pedals: Just plug into your pedals and then into the fast track / amp.

You can also do both. However, i recommend you to get a guitar pre-amp box to plug into before anything else.

  • how could i connect a condenser mic to this?

  • @MissDictionary14 Since there's no "phantom power" on this model, you can't connect it directly. But it's 100 % possible if you plug it in a pre-amp or a box with phantom power then into the fast track.

  • does the M-Audio Track Fast comes with the pro tools program and does it record perfect voices??

  • It comes with a demo of pro tools i think. but you should get a full version. and yes, it records voices perfectly! :)

  • can i use reaper software?

  • can i use keyboard on this m-audio. and which software should i use . i use windows operating system.

  • @rialgrasshopper yeah you can :) you should use pro tools, or audacity (audacity is easier to learn, and is free i think, but has less features than pro tools).

  • did you record the guitar with a mic or did you put the guitar straight to the guitar input?

  • @drugdrunkker I plugged the guitar into the instrument input and used garageband as amp and recorder :)

  • @millieguitarcrasher well If I wanted to, could I mic guitar with this? (If I'm using an instrument mic, like sm57 for example)

  • @drugdrunkker Yes of course :) That won't be a problem

  • Takk!!!

  • The other issue is that the settings aren't including monitor on with feedback protection. Only without... The garageband is recognizing the inputs and output as fast track . Should I leave them alone or change them?

  • @setmedic play without feedback protection, and use headphones or proffesional studio monitors as "monitors" to hear what you play / have recorded

  • @millieguitarcrasher Thank you...

  • I bought this thing yesterday, I'm trying to use it with my strat and new macbook( garage band). I'm only getting clean sounds, and can't seem to be able to play with different amps and stomp boxes, What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks...

  • @setmedic there is guitar sounds in garageband, they are not the best but there is some. in fact. this clip was recorded with garageband guitar sounds, but you should customize your own sound (treble, bass, mid,) which should be choosable somewhere.

  • @millieguitarcrasher thanks brotha, i guess my main concern was if it was compatible with macbook/garageband. Every damn video on you tube shows how to plug in 1/4 in ch to 1/8 inch and so on. I think I just need to play with it some more. I think i'm doing something wrong with the different input and output settings. Thanks for getting back to me...

  • @setmedic No problem! and yeah, you should try different combinations of settings! took me some time to figure out too!

  • @setmedic man did you figure it out I have the same problem, i could see all the stomp boxes and so on and the monitor is on for them but cant seem to use it but i can use the setting of real instruments via fast track WHAT am I doing WRONg I want to use the stomp boxes

  • @Kingdome007 yea, i finally got it. Keep playing with different inputs and preferences. Input 2 is what worked for me. I was starting to get worried that I had bought the wrong interface, but it works.

  • how do you get your mic to work what settings should the track be on????

  • @TankMoney07 It all happens automatically, but maybe I didn't get your question =)?

  • I have this device but no cd . . can i download the software free online??

  • I got the device, but i haven't got a cd with it. ANywhere i can get it online??

  • i have this unit but want to run a rode nt1-a which requires phantom power...could i just use a mixer before this in the signal path?

  • @NuG919 you could use this, if you only do it trough a box / mixer / or pre amp that has phantom power.

  • I Paid 100 dlls fot it on Guitar Center on San Diego, Ca. but right now its 60 Dlls! Go for it, its amazing!

  • where can i pick one of these up from and what price around ?

and also does it run off usb2 ?

  • I paid 150$ for it. But that's in Norway, guess it's cheaper in usa or where ever you live :). Any music equipment / instrument store will be able to get this ordered in for you if you ask them. What do you mean with usb2?

  • can i record guitar and vocals at the same time using audacity?

  • yes. but its not great for this kind of recording. get the more expensive one if you need this.

  • hey, can i plug my guitar into this and play guitar rig 4 through my monitors? im a total beginner :)

  • @larrylamp2003 Yes you can. Though I use Amplitube and other amp modeling plugins in FL Studio 9 to do it, it should be possible. You are 'monitoring' your source so you can play live, and prepare to record.

I have the electic plugged right into the 1/4" jack in the back direct.

  • hi i want to buy this fast track and i have o question. i got electric guitar shure dynamic mic and roland synthesizer and laptop. will i record signal from synthesizer mic and guitar to laptop ? because i dont know if i can plug a synthesizer in a guitar plug in fast track. will the signal be good and do i need some other gear to record all those things ? thanks

  • @acidcube Fastrack comes with 2 inputs - 1 non-phantom mic XLR and a direct 1/4" jack in. I have used an old Technics KX5000? Keyboard using the jack and it works fine. Though it is not optimal (depending on your skill and taste), it is a good beginner's audio interface until you want something better.

You can simultaneously record the Left channel and R channel in, THROUGH the audio interface (Fastrack) to a music software program on your laptop.

  • vete pal pingon maricon

  • hey Bro.. nice sound.

ive had a fast track usb since xmas.. but cant seem to get it. what software do you use when recording? fl studio, acid, pro-tools? and which would you recommend.

  • you could use any of those! :) garageband is great if you're new to recording and producing, and gives pretty pro results as well. more professional softwares i'd recommend is pro-tools or cubase :) both great

  • @mrghost408 Most music software will use the M-Audio Fastrack. I use Adobe Audition, and mainly FL Studio 9 right now.

The key is to select the Fastrack in the Audio Devices panel of your software in order to record and play back through it. Google how to do that.

  • if use a pedal like a metel zone or a wah pedal will it still work?

  • yeah, but you won't get good sound if you don't buy and use a guitar pre-amp when recording :). They're not that expensive i guess. this is how you gotto be plugged:

    guitar - (x) many pedals - guitar pre-amp box - fast track

  • ok i have this but i cant git it to record any thing i can play threw it and all of that it will show that i have sound on the screan but when i hit the record buton the light flashes and will not record could you help me out

  • yeah, but i'm afraid you have to explain it a little more clear. are you saying that you hit the recording button, but no sound will be recorded? are you 100% sure that you have plugged everything in the right places?

  • some audio interfaces have the delay problem at recording throuh pc , is this one have this problem or not ?

  • there is not yes or no answer to that question, but i'll answer as good as i can. 1. There is no delay when you record. never. if there is delay while you're recording you've got a terrible computer. 2. You could risk a little delay when not recording if you're pc or mac isn't that powerfull. If you are using a "mini" lap top or a low budget school pc or a really old computer, do yourself a favor and don't buy recording stuff. I have no problems cause i use a macbook 2.4gHz with 4g ram.

  • but on the other hand if you've got a decent computer and don't usually have much delay problems, go with this thing. it's easy, cheap and gives you great results :)

  • honestly i didnt use this yet but i was asking if it has this problem or not and i think that my pc is good ( processor core2due 2.53 & 2 gb ram ) it rated in windows 7 ( 4.9 ) generally thx for ur answer and ur time

  • then it's okey :)

  • Hi, Im considering buying this and I read a review on amazon with someone saying that the guitar was so quiet when played back but this video sounds fine to me. Would you recommend this? also can you create your own drum tracks?

  • The guitar won't be quit, this guy had probably not checked his settings ; ). Yes I recommend this. But having said that, this device is simply not made for recording drums, but of course, you can always use an electric drum set. The most common thing to do is to use drum emulators / loops from plug ins like EZ drums, or just record acousticly :)

  • Thank you for your help. I would be using an electric kit anyway and just plug straight into it with a lead, I think that would work ok...I hope.

  • Sweet.. You should check out guitar rig though :)

  • thx man now the problem is i don't know how to run the plug in :/

  • hm.. you should google "pro tools guitar rig plug in" or something similar :). I bet there is info on the net.

  • Hey dude, me again. So i bought this exact model and i'm completely satisfied but i have a question... there's no way to add distortion to the guitar in pro tools?

  • probably not. but anyway, you should download or buy guitar rig 3 or 4, which is a great guitar amp simulator. you install guitar rig as a plugin on pro tools :) but of course, you can always use your amp or effect pedal board and plug it into the fast track, but you should get a guitar pre-amp if you do so.
