@gobulty Let up tension and push up on the pin you find to be the security pin and you should feel some counter rotation on your wrench and if there is another security pin in the lock it will fall into another false set but if there are no other security pins the lock will open.

@xIMrMagicPantsIx You can make them yourself, yes, but for a quality pick set you'll need machining equipment capable of stamping and shaping steel sheet metal. Your best bet is to get a PO box, and order a SouthOrd set to be sent to that box.

I found another way to open locks and doors by using superbumpkeys, its so much easier and faster than picking the lock. plus they only cost about 2 bucks online at superbumpkeys. com

You could get through state of the art locks simply by get a hammer a little bit bigger than usual and customizing it on the hitting end by attaching a fixed skinny key, now you put it in a lock and just keep smashing with another hammer on the other end. You now got yourself stolen property.

We do electrical work for different companies and sometimes need quick access to electrical rooms or other places that have locks on them and we use superbumpkeys to open the doors. its just faster than picking. i believe they were 2 dollars per key.

BTW there is a mathematical algorythm to pick a combo lock. It brings the combos from 60 000 down to about 80. and shims can open a combo lock faster than any other type of lock.

depends on where the lock is located, and the country your in. If your in alot of states in the US if the lock is on a vehical that is parked in a public or commercial area, techniquely its illegal to pick the lock or shim the door without a locksmithing permit. This is primarly due to the chance of someone walking by and calling in and reporting a (false) car theft/breaking and entering in progress. However in most cases officers wont right you up for it.

Even though they practice doing it, they are also taught how to do it from someone, and that's why most can pick locks quick and with little trouble. There have been some locks smiths who could open a safe without using any tools, but rather used their finger to feel the vibration, and that's much harder to do than lockpicking a door.

So, i'm just getting started today in picking locks, and have been practicing with master lock padlocks, however i can open them quite frequently, i cant help but feel like i'm just "getting lucky". I understand the workings of a lock, but i cant feel when the pins are set...anybody got any ideas? are masterlocks extremely easy to pick? I can open one in under ten minutes, sometimes under 2 minutes or less......but i still dont feel like i "know what i'm doing". Maybe i just need more practice?
