  • Gentile, my ass!!! I got thrown 2 days ago and still feel it today. If it happened on concrete, my wife would be visiting me in ICU(intensive care unit) at the local hospital.

  • 0:16 awesome camera work

  • Gentle way my ass. There is nothing gentle about judo! Nothing!

  • @1dangerouskarateka Amen to that

  • Me and my mate whilst doing our para jump training ( para reg) at brize nortorn ...went for a jog outside of base,.. but some RAF reg guy on guard duty wanted to stop us....grabbed my arm, big mistake....harigoshi sorted his intrusion,...and we carried on our jog...

  • Judo is such a counterdictive term, 'cause judo is hard as F**k:P

  • @barnehagefanden but its ment to keep you and the people your training with Safe jujitsu back then they rarly practiced with eachother do to high injury risks ;\ its called the gental way because you getting Maximum efficancy out of The Minimal amount of Energy used

  • @barnehagefanden but its ment to keep you and the people your training with Safe jujitsu back then they rarly practiced with eachother do to high injury risks ;\ its called the gental way because you getting Maximum efficancy out of The Minimal amount of Energy used please pardon any Spelling mistakes that i may have made in this comment (im crap at spelling)

  • @barnehagefanden ya sure was create in war to defeat and finish people

  • this is myt website im creating please veiw and or comment on it and just have a look through it

    competitionjudo.webs.com

  • in my opinion when you get in to a fight (if you do) you do not think oh hmmm, im going to do ippon seoi nege it comes natural and you may do the one throw that you have only ever done once in your whole time practising as a judoka you dont think about it you just do it

  • @judo4lyfe Fine comment... Right on.!!!

  • gentle art arh those throws are the best would hurt all the way

  • Some say judo is not as effective in a self- defense situation. I believe that if an assailant is dressed and standing on asphalt; he is finished, specially when a good judoka knows what he/she is doing. In a real confrontation the judoka could block, dodge, punch and kick until the grip or grab is snatched, and then you do the judo swift, hard to the full extent with no referee...

  • JUDO MGL LOVE

  • finally somebody made a judo hl with "bodies hit the floor" what a appropriate soundtrack :-)

  • There ain't nothing gentle about Koga! IPPON

  • YES! The music is back!!

  • Some of those throws were pretty ugly. A few of those would make Jigaro Kano rotate in his grave.

  • Fighting isent pretty... If its pretty, your doing it wrong, or the other person isent fighting back... Pretty is for promotional demos and that stuff. You just dont get "pretty" when two well trained Judokas, or any trained fighters go at it. Theres propor technique, then theres the reality which is enough technique so that you get enough leverage to slam the other person on the ground before he does it to you. Fights and Demos, totally different =D

  • Well, of course I do agree with all of that. Having said that, there is no excuse to break posture and keep your center moving and just use upper body strength. ( LOL. Like I am one to talk,,,,,oh gee me never @ tournament weight of solid 260 290 lbs. I never muscled any one ) yeah right

  • There's some truth there. But I have seen some amazing high level players, in competition nail incredibly pretty throws. If it's pretty, then you are doing it right. If it isn't, then you can still be doing it right.

  • Im gonna have to disagree, if your throw looks picture perfect, yes you did it right, but more importantly the other guy did something wrong... lol Sometimes people get lucky, or the other guy is just thinking your gonna do something different, but most the time, Judo dosent look pretty when two actual Judo guys go at it, it looks like Judo, which isent pretty, whats pretty about slamming people on the ground lol

  • But in Judo, isn't the other guy making a mistake an example of you doing something right?

    oooh

    haha

  • I guess I had better explain myself. When am referring to ugly I usually mean just 2 things which aren't good Judo ( or even good physics for that matter ). 1 Break Posture 2. Stop your center. If one is technically correct then pretty/ugly is only a matter of friendly discussion ( while drinking ).

  • My prettiest throw ever came about a street fight ( well not exactly, I was bouncing @ a VERY rough club ). I threw the world's most beautiful Tai Otoshi......of course I was trying to throw Hane Goshi . The only time I ever did Tai Otoshi was that time

  • So what your saying is you can do a perfect Judo throw on a guy that knows nothing of Judo and was prabably drunk plus you got lucky and did it on accedent...

  • LOL Yeah pretty much that is it. Well, let's not forget I had 100 lbs on him ( no joke ) Of course ( even with all those things taken into consideration ) I would have been thrilled, IF IT HAD JUST BEEN THE THROW I WAS ATTEMPTING.

  • Exactally what I was saying, Judo throws never go the way you want them to in real life, but one thing is for certin, weather you mess up and it looks "ugly" or you accedently do another move instead, Judo throws hurt alot =)

  • Yep! There are so many things I love about Judo, but that might be my favorite. Throw some guy on the concrete and he is going to have a bad day.

  • i know what you mean, but slamming people on the ground in slow mo always looks pretty lol

  • No one makes Jigaro Kano move unless HE wants to!

  • This is really unfitting music to be honest.

  • Although Judo is often called the gentle way, i'd rather say its the most effective way, i.e., achiving best results with a certain amount of force. Anyways, Judo rocks! :)

  • Nice!

  • Who's that kid at the end of the video?

  • Comment removed

  • Miss Judo so much!!!

  • LOLGENTLE.

  • LOLOLOLOL

    GENTLE!

  • YOOOUUUU.

  • JUDO!!!!! HELL Yeah!!!!!!!!!

  • at 50 I wish I was able to still compete-if this wont get your blood moving you must be dead already

  • The gentle way? Maybe for the guy executing the technique, 'cause it's damn painful if you're the one receiving it :S I should know!

  • there is a club in Aberdeen

  • great vid.

is there any Judo clubs in the shrewsbury area.

  • one called bradley stoke in south gloucs somewhere if that helps.

or go on british judo association website

  • thx, didn't think anyone would reply to this comment, but i thound a club three weeks ago, british judo association did help.

  • WHO-AHH! Fantastico!

  • what is the name of the song???

  • bodies by drowning pool

  • ok thanks

  • that kata-guruma against the ireland guy was absofukinlutely amazing man...what smoothness lol

  • A judo player could also strike and punch (human nature). Also, use "Ne-Waza"(ground techniques); thus choking or snaping one's arm, taking it to the fullest. "CAN'T FIGHT LIKE THAT". DIDN'T HEAR THE TAPPING!!, lol!

  • NeWaza is HARD Randori or however you spell it is eazyer to me :D Theres not many Choking Techniques in Judo

  • I know about Ne-Waza being hard. I tried to avoid "coliflwered ears", you know, the constant fiction against the "Tatammi"(heat,sweat,etc...)But, i couldn't walk away. By the way ( ALL YOU NEED IS A COUPLE OF GOOD CHOKES) to be effective. Like everything in life " specialize in a few ". JUDO has enough chokes: NAMI JUJI JIME, GYAKU JUJI JIME, KATA JUJI JIME (3 CROSS CHOKES), HADAKA JIME, KATAHA JIME, OKURI ERI JIME (1 naked lock, single wing, sliding collar),KATATE JIME, RYOTE JIME, SODE GURUMA

  • ....JIME (Sleeve wheel choke), TSUKKOMI JIME (thust choke), SANKAKU JIME (triangle choke),etc...

  • theres a lot of choking techniqes go to a real place like jason morris judo center and u find that there is a lot more chokes that at your tiger shomans place

  • Gracie's BJJ is fine, but in a real selfdefense situation (no rules, no matts) why would anyone want to spend unnecessary time on the ground? A "good, calm, fearless judoka," who knows of course what's he/she's doing, intensifies one good power throw; or an out of nowhere, swift combo "smash"(with momentum, right timing and speed) against bare concrete; (exampl: side walk, road, tiles, stairs and the attacker could be left dissabled or crippled. Just with one shot or a couple of them.

  • "Fintolgano" The Gracies and all the other masters of Bjj never advised going to the ground in a street fight when there is more than one opponent, infact they always advised going to knee on the belly and pounding the enemy with a couple of shots to the body and the head, that can take 1-2 seconds,it will disable one opponent and scare the shit out of others..but its a different situation if its 1 on 1 ofc...then its safe going to the ground...

  • ...not saying that Judo isnt usefull ofcourse :)

i know how dangerous a good throw or a wrestling takedown can be :)

  • Someone says judo is just elegant and can't be done without a gi and that wrestling is the best. Listen, any style has advantages and disadvantages o.k. That's solely your opinion. Now mine. I've done judo against wrestlers, experimented and you modifie your judo a bit. Train some techniques without gi. An example, once ful fk force they grab my leg, just by using the same leg, apply osotogari with momentum, you go down. Sotomakisomi, Ippon seoi nage, Kataguruma ( dont fk need a gi on ).

  • silly.. imo this cannot be compared with Muay Thai which is style for real tough guys..

this is useless as a self defense on a street, but it's nice sport, just my opinion don't take it too serious...

  • Judo owns Muay Thai anyday. Sorry, but if I closed the distance and you tried to use Muay Thai techniques, I'd trip you and either use hammar fists or submit you.

  • you're free to dream ;)

  • btw Thaibox doesn't need distance to fight.. and ofc if some jerk provoke me on a street I take down my shirt and then start to fight so he can't even grab me + I'm all of a sweat lol :D so no way.. :D

  • Thai is useless against my gun.

  • Kiking, punching, striking, whatever all come naturally to humans. Sutemi-waza (in judo) includes all that. Yet in a selfdefense situation a good judoka, on the street, don't even need all that crap. As a kid was a street fighter and boxer, then learned judo very young and all you need is to throw an uchimata or tai otoshi fast and intense throw on the pavement ( no fk matts) and anybody could be completely fucked.REALITY

  • @Fintolgano

Yeah I'm pretty sure that a fast Uchi mata is almost unstoppable against someone who doesn't train in a grappling art of some sort.

  • Now, for selfdefense, the last time i checked people outthere don't walk naked. They wear pants T-shirts, long hair, belt whatever. Concrete sidewalks, tiles even walls are everywhere; so a fk grip could be attained. Then with enough inertia, momentum and speed ( some strength of course ) a well excecuted throw on bare floor could be leathal( logic )

  • thanks 4 channel comment spam btw :-D

  • btw :-D to you too, Complex!

  • Most martial arts trainning is based on katas and fancy moves. I'm not saying they are not good, but because of their inherent risk of injuries kumites ( combat ) in most contact sports or m.arts are done in a careful kind of slower manner, using protection. Yet "RANDORI, IN JUDO" is done at ful speed, strength, ful power; as if you were fighting for real ( adrenaline pumping good )except no kicks or strike is allowed. What saves you is the matts and knowing how to fall.

  • 1st tournament coming up...I'm using this as inspiration!

  • lol thnx my sensei calls it da pikkup though idk thnx 4 da help though

  • At 0:15 the throw is called sode tsuri komi goshi Kata garuma is at :20

  • 0:15 it's not Sode.. simply looked like one cos was controling on the arm instead of the lapel

  • Nice Video Judo is the LIFE and this video shows it!!

  • hey any judo playas here? ive been in it for 6 years now im 13 and a bluebelt. da move he does at 0:15 my sensei cals it da pikkup i use it alot but is there a name 4 it in japanese?

  • im a judo playah and u been in judo for six year and ur a blue belt and u dont noe the name of thaty technique its called kata-guruma

  • he started when he was six. it's obviously a kid's judo class; he's still learning english vocab let alone japanese. cut the kid some slack. six years is badass, good for him.

  • I think they're mistranslating it.

Judo's ju means "soft" neither gentle nor peacefull.

  • it is the gentle way.. simply so haha

  • not really

  • Yes, really. The "Ju" in "Judo" means "soft" or "gentle". The "Ju" in GoJu" means the same thing, - just like "JIU-jitsu" or "Gentle art".

  • Actually it's not. I'm a Japanese speaker. I know my language. It's simply "soft" not "gentle".

  • Song is Bodies by Drowning Pool

  • the sone is bodies hit the floor by rob zombie

  • that 'ippon' at 1:20 is BS

  • Wellcome to the world of JUDO.......I like the choice of the song.....nice!!!

  • Охуеть... Круто...

    Cool

  • song:Bodies by Drowning Pool

  • I wonder what is this song...

Yellow belt in judo, ive trained for about 3 or 4 years and im 15, ive passed all the belt-tests so progress in our dojo is very slow

  • Wow you should be higher rank if you've been training for 3 to 4 years....But then agian belts really doesn't matter... The skills is

    but niceeeee :]

  • man they played this song on the radio and all i could think about was THIS VID!!! love it

  • what is the music??

  • Zajebista muzyczka :D

  • nice judo. i think, judo is special.

  • Nice vid

  • nice judo video,

there are some spectacular trows in it,

for some of them I can't realy figger out how it's possible like 0.13 and 1.30 and I'm a black belt, hehe

  • @ Almightybram

u dont know how to do it ?? do u competti in tournaments ?? couse.. i know how to d othose trows.. black belt here as well..

  • 0:13 is possibly a sode tsurikomi goshi

  • its amazing!!!

    and with the drowning pool...

its one of the my prefeared!!!

  • nice

  • yeah ! awesome judo video ! perfekt song choice !!!

  • Woohooo, song suits the vid.

  • Perfect song choice!

  • what is the song on this video name?

  • bodies by... drowning pool i think

  • UR RIGHT

  • The gentle way... Jujitsu really is an oxymoron.

  • let the bodies hit the floor!

  • 1:22 is fantastic!

  • i agree!! tai otoshi!!!

  • The woman's face at 0:06 is just hilarious lol

  • Great!

  • Kano's gi doesn't fit the regulations! Someone buy him a new one..

  • man i haven't heard this song in forever but it FITS!! nice editing too how the impacts match up with the beats. Also the Kano Sensei shot at the end for respect. Great Video!

  • dude you have to add some koge ippons, cuz he just kills the opponent every throw, he's unstopable.

  • the one in 0:54 when he does the kata goruma is wicked.

  • Gi Makes him look fat at the end.

  • the uchimata was the best in that vid, shame there's not enough iponseonage, it's the fastest and most beautiful.

next time add some parts of koga.

  • thats a load of shit there are much better looking throws the seonage

  • offcourse the seonage is more beutiful, but there are some nice throes here.

if you wanna see perfect, watch koga.

  • good clip shame i had to turn the volume down to watch it (yb)

  • Haha... damn funny...

The whole video shows all the violent and powerful throw, in the end it says "Judo... the gentle way" ROFLMAO damn hilarious

  • it may not look like it but that is the gentle way, giving way to throw your opponent off balance and execute a throw. The music is fine, it is the gentle way. WTH a judoka is not going to stand there and caress his?her opponent are they?

  • I don't get how Judo 's the "gentle way".

Anyways crap music for a nice video.

  • some nice ippons out there but its not best example of gentle way thats for sure ;P

  • Gentle way, rough music... Oh dear. =P

  • Oh,I forgot to mention, I don´t like the song that much but it does fit so much better than all the other songs which are used for Judo compilations here...

  • Yes, some Juodo moves, like Kata-guruma, are definive old greek techniques. But geographicly it developed in another fighting system/structure.Shouldn´t compare it with wrestling, in my eyes that´s just a part of modern entertainment industrie.Judo has a real grown history, it was not invented for fun or to entertain people.

  • stfu

  • hey! juudo isnt wreseling... in fact most of wreseling moves are judo or jujitso moves

  • actually Judo was invented in the late 1800's. Greeks were WRESTLING* since ancient times, so I do not see how that could be physically possible.

  • Japanese do not tell other people what to believe in. Barbarians . . .

  • I did Judo to, but I finished because I wanted to try something other .. e.g. Karate, Kempo ...

But later I releiased the Judo is the key, the basic to everything.... By the way the video is cool!! [^-^]

  • I have been looking for a judo video with this exact song for a long time!

  • i did judo when i was 10 and i gave it up when i changed school - seeing this i think why??

  • the best vid real nice i put this on my space and that kid das not know what he is talking about shit music

  • Só ipponzaço!! Tá filé!!

  • god I hope one day I can be hald this good ;___;

  • Nice video!! Shit music!!

  • fook you!

  • lmao bodies hit the floor is the PERFECT song for judo ahah

    nice, 5 stars

  • When two hot chics get in a judo fight it can get pretty hot

  • dat one arm sode is nearly as good as mine lol (14 seconds in btw!) Check My vid 2 c mine lol

  • very nice

  • awesome vid. instead of dissing bjj or judo maybe you should study both to become a better grappler

  • i love that song, it goes well with the video

    lol

  • yup, it doesnt hurt to learn brazilian jujitsu and judo and the sametime. If your a black belt in judo, then you're gonna learn jujitsu fast or you might start as a blue belt.

  • gotta agree there....

  • the song is called bodies and its from drowning pool

  • the throw in judo are definitley superior to the throws in BJJ but once the judo guy puts the BJJ guy on the mat the judo guy is gone

  • i think you need to think twice abou that there are plenty of judo guys tapping bjj guys, judos newaza is very strong,BUT learning bjj isn't going to hurt youre judo because those two styles compliment each other!

  • love the song

    what's the song/band name?

  • dont know about greatest sport but defenetly comes close !!

  • great vid .... bad music ... judo is the greatest sport ever !!!

  • Hmm everyone at my club respects Judo players, and everyone at my dojo respects BJJ players.

Disrepectful people bring shame on only themselves.

  • i really liked the 00:13 one, he reaaly knows where his opponent goes, its great. And judo is the gentle way, but can be hard sometimes ;)

  • on the contrary, in my experience most bjj, me included, admire judo for its throws and takedowns, and bjj instructors often promote crosstraining or have crosstrained themselves in either wrestling or judo for their takedowns

  • Beautiful! Quite liked some of the uchimatas in the vid.

  • Fantastic video, but why do a some Bjj guys have such a big chip on their shoulders,is it because they're only doin g half a sport?.Only kidding i love newaza also, but personally i couldn't do it all the time,i'd get board. Each to their own.

  • I wouldn't say BJJ practitioners have a chip on their shoulder. They are more vocal about their sport than Judoka are, including 'racer-ising' their gis. It's just a different sporting culture than Judoka are used to, not a chip though.

  • the one at 1:30 is dope guys

  • super but it can be longer
