Male lions don't always kill cubs. If they do it's because they're taking over a pride and they want their offspring around and not another male. They're not all rivals either. Often males team up to take over a pride from another dominant male. The little kid sounds like he's already attracted to violence. He's hoping they fight and he says, "they're battling". It's nature. Lions know nothing about the meaning of those words.

Did you need a special pass or ticket to view the lion exhibit? My family is planning on visiting the park in the next month or so...I understand they also have Safari packages, too. They're a bit pricey, though :(

I had passes, but the best value package is what you'd want. That way it includes the Journey Into Africa Tour. There's a adult bv ticket at kids price special available on the San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park Web site for visits through March 14.

me and my girl friend ( same household) all together cost $74 and that includes free journey into africa rides, year pass for the zoo too and alot of discounts on things like parking ( wild animal park) and food
