  • Shame you can't hear it. Great poem.

  • Great! I followed ferret12's advice and played the track of WMP and it worked brilliantly. Well done! :-)

  • how about if you take it down? How would that be, I wonder? What good is it to ANYBODY without the GD sound?

  • i don't know, was there a match?

  • Pretty good; a little literal, but I get where you're going. You missed the Mickey's Big Mouth, though. Your guy had a regular 12oz brown bottle.

  • Cheers

  • that chick is pretty cute

  • You know what you do? Play Franks Wild Years on whatever audio system you want whilst watching the video.

  • Beautiful job...very pro. I just uploaded some very rare waits. Get it while you can. (3 parts of a show in L.A. jan 2008...a legal benefit) and say hello while you're there. I've been listening to my copy of franks wild years while watching this...

  • I wish I could have found this video before the copyright claim. I was going to post Diamonds & Gold from Rain Dogs, but it got removed before it was even displayed on my channel. Alot of Tom's material has been removed lately. It's pissing me off because Waits is getting taken off YouTube, and I can't seem to find more than two or three of his albums in the entire state of New Mexico.

  • Love the tip-ash in to the pot!

Why do mega hits remain untouched on youtube, but little classics like this get the full weirdo-lawyer treatment?

  • I really wish I knew the answer to that. Its probably all directly proportional to the stream of revenue coming in. Since the mega-hits are exactly that, hits... the execs see a nice steady flow of income back to the label. But when there's obviously a smaller market, they must feel they have to protect it more vigorously.

Unfortunately, since these people are so obtuse and short-sighted, they don't seem catch on to the concept of free advertisement...

  • ...and would rather have their CDs remained unheard and unpurchased, collecting dust on a shelf instead of banking on the chance that someone who hadn't heard of the artist in question before would come by a place like this and become a fan... a paying fan.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words about the video. We had fun making it. Hopefully Tom Waits will inspire many more out there like he did us.

  • Oh and thanks to Island Records (now owned by Universal Music Group) for being so greedy! Too bad Tom Waits didn't leave you sooner.

  • Ah, fuck 'em man. Music is made to draw inspiration from it and be enjoyed, not bogarted and milked for every penny possible. These record companies can suck my big stinky dick.

  • Its blatant greed like this that will ruin sites like Youtube and stifle the creativity of the coming generations. Art is replete with examples of how artists have borrowed or built upon works of those before them.

  • My apologies for the lack of sound for the video now. Some '3rd party' claimed copyright infringment and ordered the video taken down. I opted to leave the video up without the audio so that everyone could see how asinine and obtuse the request was.

  • Never could stand that dog.

  • Close your eyes... just listen.

    Maan, thats the best!!

Cool visuals though. Reminds me of watching the movie after reading the book.

  • awsome this is better than the one I made to this song using MS paint

  • Tom Waits is awesome.

  • "a spent piece of used jet trash".... i cant begin to tell you how hard i will try to remember that insult. this man is a genius.

  • "all Halloween orange and chimney red..."

    good show sir

  • "Spent piece of jet trash" perhaps a former airline stew?

  • really good job. i really think that you captured the simplicity of the story. maybe...a more convincing actress nxt time. urs is too pretty. ha.

  • Nah. The pretty wasn't the problem, it was her trying to channel Waits with the ciggarete- bad choice. You're painting a picture of domesticity within realistic bounds, you don't want to foreshadow his eventual switch by showing her to be some ultracool cynic.

But that's small potatoes. Overall, very nice.
