heres the thing about powers being similar to eatch other.... they are constantly used, the last dungeon of the game uses the ones u get from the very start. And heres the thing about the story it has Japan all over it.....

I'll be the first to admit that Okami might not be for everyone, and granted the first 1/3 of the game is rather dull, as you have yet to get immeresed into the story, but that does not mean that it's a bad game by any means, if you like the kind of gameplay and style of playing it's a great game that can be appreciated for a long time as the game itself is actually surpriseingly big once you get down to doing all the side quests.
Okay I love Okami and okamiden they remain to be one of my favorite video games of all time. But the thing that seriously bothers me is that your trying to bring the game down and show it off as a legitimately bad game and to be fair that's not true. But I digress I respect your opinion and I'm glad you at least went out of your way to get near the end. But try to finish it considering your so close but even though I love Okami alot and your not a bad person for hating it.

Okami is one of my favorite games. Personally. Anyway, the gameplay (namely combat) takes a long time to get used to. I do enjoy the story and the Japanese mythology. I think it has some of the best music and graphics. Also, I find it interesting that you said you abuse the Mist power. I actually never used this after I absolutely had to. I found it boring. As for the story stuff, that's personal opinion.
yes the first time i play the game i press the attack button over and over again but the second time y start to use different orders for the weapons and use more the buttons and is pretty awesome. you can do a wall jump and charge the sword in middle air (when you have it on the second slot) and fall like a freaking meteor dammit! and the counts if you put them in the first sloth you have a freaking over powered whip! (specially if you train in the dojos) sorry for the bad English seriously

most of the enemies do not require specials to beat them. Using the floral finishers, actually made the fights faster. As for the story, its an element of comic relief. Juxtaposition of the serious to silly added to characterization.
Amaterasu is a god, therefore gender is meant to be ambiguous.
It many redeeming qualities, and while controls on Playstation may not have been perfect, the Wii made up for those alot, namely by making the drawing a much smaller hassle.
Meh, to each their own. I actually like the exploration to it, I love finding new places and things to do. But like any other game, not everyone is gonna be a fan.

1) This seems more like a "Why I dislike Okami" instead of a "Why I hate Okami" video.
2) You stated that you stopped playing the game and looked up the final boss on YouTube...I don't see why you would do this instead of being "immersed" with the game as stated with the Wii version.

And about the watching end on YouTube thing, I pretty much did the same thing with Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, except that was because it was way too complex and hard :) I am pretty much over him not liking Okami now, and I'm actually kind of happy he played it(even if he didn't like it).
I liked Okami a lot, I would even consider it to be one of my favourite games ever, but I can understand your opinion. I hate the response errors on the Wii version, but found the combat system to be fun, although it got boring after a lot of fights in a row. The story is one of the things I love the game for, especially because it was sometimes serious and sometimes funny and random. I liked this video and I'm a fan of you, I just wanted to say my opinion.
If you're still wondering about Ameterasu's gender, she's a female. The sad thing is you have to play the sequel to actually know that, though. (Although it is revealed very close to the beginning, so you don't have to play it for very long)
If anything is to blame for inconsistent moments in the story, it would be Waka and Issun. At least Issun's remarks were funny, if out of place. Moments like the tango were just created because of Waka, who's an insane character who can't really be defined. He's everything at once, which leads to his personality switching around

You got this part wrong. In Okami, you can use the brush powers on your enemies, giving you more attacks. In Dynasty Warriors, You are mashing the same button all the time, throwing some special moves in here and there.
I concede that Okami's combat system is deeper than i said, but it amounts for me to little more than just using the attack button, mist spell, and slashes, and it's not fun. But calling Dynasty Warriors only using one button is very shallow. You ever played Strikeforce? Or 7?
You have a valid point with the fighting and controls, and I can see you not liking the story. Most people who aren't fans of anime wouldn't understand or appreciate the way that it mixes drama with comedy, but that just you. What I don't understand is how you can hate a game because of it's music and graphics. The first ever video games had horrible graphics and the music sounded like a fax machine in all of them, but people still love them.

Gods like Amaturasu tend to have no gender, like certain Pokemon. Take Rotom for example it has certain traits that lead people to believe in any which way. Oh and why the other gods call it "mother to us all"..... they were talking metaphorically, as in Amaturasu created life like a mothers do.

I like Okami, but I have to agree with many... alright most... alright, almost all of your complaints. having beaten the game I'll add a couple more for you: The final boss fight is easy as bricks and can be beaten in a matter of seconds per phase with use of Steel Fist Sakes, yet the secret fight before you board the Ark of Yamato is soul-crushingly difficult.
I wish they had switched the elements of Thunder Edge and Tundra Beads...
At least the counter system was pretty fun. (Izuna Otoshi FTW)

Hmm, interesting. I love Okami (but hey, I'm not gonna flame you ^_^), and I was curious about what you had to say against it. Apparently you don't appreciate funny with serious moments, but you rather want a game to be either all serious or all funny, right...? I thought it was one of the best parts of it. Like, the ambiance was all epic-looking, yet it had those small lil gags (such as the gods) to lighten up the atmosphere.
But hey, everyone has their opinions, and I respect yours.
I didn't want it because, based on the advertizements, the fighting looked stupid and the art looked very, very ugly to me, even back then.
Thank Satan that I was able to talk him out of it, because, now that I'm older, I see that the fighting is even more stupid, the art is even more ugly, and now I know how the story sucks, too!

I respect joshscorcher's opinion, and while I personally love Okami... I agree with the repeated boss battle gripe. But I heard that people have asked him to do a let's play of the game... WHAT!!!
1. If you want a good Okami Let's play, look for chuggaconroy, he does a great one.
2. People let's play games they like, so why would a person ever do a let's play of a game they hate, especially one as long as Okami?
Have you played Zelda: Phantom Hourglass? I personally haven't, but I've heard that there is a dungeon called "the temple of the ocean king", which takes about an HOUR to beat, and in order to beat the game you have to go through that exact same level FIVE times. I have played okami, and orochi takes about 20-30 minutes to beat each time.
Shameless pallet swapping has no excuse, and as for the story, it's just keeping the characters in character and I love exploration. It's all an opinion thing. For example, I hate Waka.

It seems like people always overhype games for you. I haven't finished Okami (stuck at the ship), but Ammy was interesting to me because she was a mute so the fact that she shows personality is a step up. I agree with you on all your points I just had lower expectations of the game, even though its my girlfriend's favorite of all time.
here is a tip. dont anounce your opinions on youtube. in your countdowns it is okay but anounce it as a side comment and you wil be hounded. Check chuggaaconroy on the okami matter.

J) Finishing the game doesn't affect how the story is put together or how the good the gameplay is. I have no opinion on this matter, as, again, I haven't played it, but that's beside the point. Finishing Sonic 06 doesn't make it good, finishing Portal doesn't make it bad, if you have complaints, they won't change.
B) Repeating a boss even if they require a different strategy is still repeating a boss, it isnt fun
C) Most games are like that, but at least most know to seperate them well

seems we both get flamed for our opinions. since i'm not a call of duty person, i get a LOT of abuse from fanboys and i'm like "chill out, its just my opinion". on the subject of okami having never played it, it just doesn't look like my kinda game (flame shield raised) i'm not really an arty person and i just don't think i'd enjoy it. it looks more like a game my niece would enjoy since she loves japanese culture and stuff.
Okami is my second favorite game of all time. But I'm fine with people's opinions. There are a lot of re-skins, but that didn't really turn me off. I thought the quirkiness was cute, and the story was innovative for me. It's fine if you don't like it.

But a quick note, Ammy's addressed as female, but since she's a god, she's technically genderless.
Now I have to wonder what you'd think of Okamiden. The graphics are about as beautiful as the DS will allow (though you can still see the framerate chopping up) and the sound is about as good. I think the plot went a lot better through that game (though Akuro's involvement in Okami felt more like a good retcon than anything else), with combat that was just as problematic. At least most enemies are now vulnerable to the "attack attack attack" method.
Since they took out Veil of Mist, the combat became a lot more challenging. Still, they made some pretty bad choices. There are several sidequests they pretty much force you to do, and they try a little too hard on some of the jokes (such as the new nickname gag).
Just an FYI Amaterasu is female, she is based off the Japanese sun goddess. The only reason why she freaks out over breasts is because of comical effect (honestly I found that stupid they should have just left Issun to the girl gawking he's better at it)
I just started playing and im not the biggest fan either. the celestial drawing pad thing NEVER DOES WAT I TELL IT TO DO!! and the little bug with u is twice as annoying as Navi from Zelda. And idk why everyone thinks the graphics are so beautiful, bcuz often i found way to much going on screen, but thats just my opinion
I love Okami and i respect this guys and opinion and i agree. Many enemies are ripoffs of each other and the weapons are kind of overpowered. I love the game for the artstyle, atmosphere and story. Battling the same bosses are preety lazy. The game had a lot of variety and sidequest which kept me alot busy. :)

This is pretty much my opinion, although a couple of bosses were significantly better than others (Plague was a strongpoint and much more challenging than the others).
But you know those items which do a huge circle of damage round you. Combine them with button mashing and slowdown. It screams broken.
Still, I like the graphical strengths, and the fishing mini-game wasn't too bad.
@NovemberCrystal The weapons are not over powered they are LAME. The only good ones are the beads as you can use them as a whip or even shot them. I'm normally ga ga over swords and the sword in okami felt like a lie. Also at joker boy, You stopped playing before the final boss but had only 7 foes left to fight?! WEAK! If you finished you'd have a real reason to hate the game, after many false endings they give you a very bad real one.
And Dinasty Warriors special attacks are not that special after you see them 50 times . And yeah about Okami your opinion was kinda correct (weird Controlls a strange story ) sometimes without any sense but well all games have defects but doing a 11:38 min video to trash Okami wasnt a good option (in my opinion) if you want the hatters to stop 1 you were reciving mails from persons that wanted to know why you hated Okami but now ppl will mail you because they disagree with you . well Peace

man okami is not a good game. play some good games! like metroid, or halo, or tloz, or assassins creed, not okami. i mean its just.....a good concept, but its not smooth at all. and plus anything video games having to do with asian are really not my preference....

After a while, id say you figure out the controls. It had great music, especially at that one snow village. I has low expectations for games :P so id say these problems are being blown way out of proportion. That is my opinion.

yes the first time i play the game i press the attack button over and over again but the second time y start to use different orders for the weapons and use more the buttons and is pretty awesome. you can do a wall jump and charge the sword in middle air (when you have it on the second slot) and fall like a freaking meteor dammit! and the counts if you put them in the first sloth you have a freaking over powered whip! most of the enemies do not require specials to beat them. Using the floral finishers, actually made the fights faster. As for the story, its an element of comic relief. Juxtaposition of the serious to silly added to characterization.
Amaterasu is a god, therefore gender is meant to be ambiguous.
It many redeeming qualities, and while controls on Playstation may not have been perfect, the Wii made up for those alot, namely by making the drawing a much smaller hassle.

2) You stated that you stopped playing the game and looked up the final boss on YouTube...I don't see why you would do this instead of being "immersed" with the game as stated with the Wii version.

I liked Okami a lot, I would even consider it to be one of my favourite games ever, but I can understand your opinion. I hate the response errors on the Wii version, but found the combat system to be fun, although it got boring after a lot of fights in a row. The story is one of the things I love the game for, especially because it was sometimes serious and sometimes funny and random. I liked this video and I'm a fan of you, I just wanted to say my opinion.

If anything is to blame for inconsistent moments in the story, it would be Waka and Issun. At least Issun's remarks were funny, if out of place. Moments like the tango were just created because of Waka, who's an insane character who can't really be defined. He's everything at once, which leads to his personality switching around

You have a valid point with the fighting and controls, and I can see you not liking the story. Most people who aren't fans of anime wouldn't understand or appreciate the way that it mixes drama with comedy, but that just you. What I don't understand is how you can hate a game because of it's music and graphics. I like Okami, but I have to agree with many... alright most... alright, almost all of your complaints. having beaten the game I'll add a couple more for you: The final boss fight is easy as bricks and can be beaten in a matter of seconds per phase with use of Steel Fist Sakes, yet the secret fight before you board the Ark of Yamato is soul-crushingly difficult.
I wish they had switched the elements of Thunder Edge and Tundra Beads...
At least the counter system was pretty fun. (Izuna Otoshi FTW)

Hmm, interesting. I love Okami (but hey, I'm not gonna flame you ^_^), and I was curious about what you had to say against it. Apparently you don't appreciate funny with serious moments, but you rather want a game to be either all serious or all funny, right...? I thought it was one of the best parts of it. Like, the ambiance was all epic-looking, yet it had those small lil gags (such as the gods) to lighten up the atmosphere.

My uncle was going to buy me Okami for the PS2.
I didn't want it because, based on the advertizements, the fighting looked stupid and the art looked very, very ugly to me, even back then.
Thank Satan that I was able to talk him out of it, because, now that I'm older, I see that the fighting is even more stupid, the art is even more ugly, and now I know how the story sucks, too!

Have you played Zelda: Phantom Hourglass? I personally haven't, but I've heard that there is a dungeon called "the temple of the ocean king", which takes about an HOUR to beat, and in order to beat the game you have to go through that exact same level FIVE times. I have played okami, and orochi takes about 20-30 minutes to beat each time.

B) the bosses are repeated a lot to be honest, but almost EVERY single boss is unique and requires a different way to kill them

4. I liked the story. Even though the pacing was a bit iffy. I didn't mind the tonal shifts though. I felt the seriousness mixed with the humor fit the atmosphere and quirkiness.
6. Gods could have been better developed in general, not just the jokes.

Now I have to wonder what you'd think of Okamiden. The graphics are about as beautiful as the DS will allow (though you can still see the framerate chopping up) and the sound is about as good. I think the plot went a lot better through that game (though Akuro's involvement in Okami felt more like a good retcon than anything else), with combat that was just as problematic. At least most enemies are now vulnerable to the "attack attack attack" method.

Since they took out Veil of Mist, the combat became a lot more challenging. Still, they made some pretty bad choices. There are several sidequests they pretty much force you to do, and they try a little too hard on some of the jokes (such as the new nickname gag).

I just started playing and im not the biggest fan either. the celestial drawing pad thing NEVER DOES WAT I TELL IT TO DO!! and the little bug with u is twice as annoying as Navi from Zelda. And idk why everyone thinks the graphics are so beautiful, bcuz often i found way to much going on screen, but thats just my opinion

I love Okami and i respect this guys and opinion and i agree. Many enemies are ripoffs of each other and the weapons are kind of overpowered. I love the game for the artstyle, atmosphere and story. Battling the same bosses are preety lazy. The game had a lot of variety and sidequest which kept me alot busy. :)
I respect this guy and his right everyone has a different opinion and i respect that.

This is pretty much my opinion, although a couple of bosses were significantly better than others (Plague was a strongpoint and much more challenging than the others).
But you know those items which do a huge circle of damage round you. Combine them with button mashing and slowdown. It screams broken.
Still, I like the graphical strengths, and the fishing mini-game wasn't too bad.

@NovemberCrystal The weapons are not over powered they are LAME. The only good ones are the beads as you can use them as a whip or even shot them. I'm normally ga ga over swords and the sword in okami felt like a lie. Also at joker boy, You stopped playing before the final boss but had only 7 foes left to fight?! WEAK! If you finished you'd have a real reason to hate the game, after many false endings they give you a very bad real one.

And Dinasty Warriors special attacks are not that special after you see them 50 times . And yeah about Okami your opinion was kinda correct (weird Controlls a strange story ) sometimes without any sense but well all games have defects but doing a 11:38 min video to trash Okami wasnt a good option (in my opinion) if you want the hatters to stop 1 you were reciving mails from persons that wanted to know why you hated Okami but now ppl will mail you because they disagree with you . well Peace

I Usualy love your videos with their sense of humor but did you had to do a video like this (your face movements were more funny then the coments itself) True Okami fans will Laugh of this because its just one persons opinion as you said on the beginning . everybody like different games for me I dont like Dynasty Warriors (its super repetitive , there many characters but their attacks are limited it is 1vshundreds but it isnt funny anymore (Yeah i played dw a few years back)

man okami is not a good game. play some good games! like metroid, or halo, or tloz, or assassins creed, not okami. i mean its just.....a good concept, but its not smooth at all. and plus anything video games having to do with asian are really not my preference....
how come all the games i run into that this guy "reviews" of ones i was very faintly familiar with when i was six and my brother watched x-play everyday....>.>

After a while, id say you figure out the controls. It had great music, especially at that one snow village. I has low expectations for games :P so id say these problems are being blown way out of proportion. That is my opinion.
