  • @RXRob i was at that guildhall show, was fucking mental waiting for them to come on!

  • Ah classic!TFI friday was a great show, slipknot, napalm death, at the drive in, faith no more etc etc when would you see any similar bands on primetime tv now?sad really with all this

  • yeeeahhh this is slipknot now and forever fuck ahahaha slipknot in Ecuador is awesome....!!!

  • he's a funny guy is our Chris..he didnt get the song name wrong it's just usually ppl with no sence of FUCKING HUMOUR! I actually remember this and taped it too but dont think i have the tape now..i remember being sooo fucking excited though. I'm in a metal band myself now...who'd a thunk

  • I read about it in Kerrang

  • This is a sic performance

  • I heard Danny baker talking about this on the radio I had to see it, lol brilliant

  • Why are people saying he got the song wrong?

  • @wgradcliffe He calls it Bleed And Wait after the performance

  • I was at that gig in Portsmouth!! Got hit in the head with the arm of a chair thrown from the balcony while the crowd chanted 'Fuck You' waiting for the band to appear!!

  • Bring back TFI Friday!

  • @EWAUltimate Although ...sorry too say ,was it of a time..!!!!

God i used to 'LOVE' 'T.F.I.'...Because you never knew...what to expect...!!!!!

  • Chris Evans is a fan of music, he knew what he was doing.

  • Big respect for Chris Evans giving Slipknot genuine props when many others in his position would've just made a joke about it, I'll let him off getting the name wrong!

  • Back in the day when metal was on tv. :D

  • @Ditak This is back in the day when metal WASN'T on tv, this was one of the first. It wasn't until about 2002 when it was on every fucking channel.

  • bring back TFI Friday, yeah?

New bands - old bands - good natured crowd and some 90's lad humour.

It's got to be better than anything on TV today, surely?

It would be the perfect anthesis to Britain's Got No Talent, X Factor and all that other crap.

  • bleed and wait???? what a douche

  • this is totally the wrong name. why would they name this song wait and bleed? *sarcasm

  • never invite slipknot onto your show...

you will either be gagging for more or you will have the task of explaining what happened to health and safety officials.. these guys dont fuck around when it comes to rocking out!!

    R.I.P Paul Gray aka Pig-Face

  • i remember all the uproar this caused lol

  • Haha total class.

  • Slipknot, Napalm Death, Ant & Dec? Chris Evans has some metal taste.

  • Ha ha. I remember watching this at the time. Amazing.

  • Backstory for how they ended up on TFI Friday going out at 6pm: TFI producer Danny Baker's son Sonny was very into nu metal and Slipknot in particular. Baker lost a bet with his son and the forfeit was to book Slipknot on TFI.

Everyone who watched the broadcast that night would have been able to tell how happy Chris Evans was with messing with C4's watchdogs - he read out letters of complaint the following week.

  • 1.20 "iv got a migraine" !

i met these cats a year after, always a good live show, RIP PAUL

  • This contains Copyright remove it Now!!!

  • it's rock 'n' roll.. the kids love it!

  • @cjh666 I thought kids actually were so scared by this performance that Channel 4 had complaints :L

  • Lol @ "Bleed and Wait". I just hope this Chris Evans fellow never became a DJ later on in life or anything like that...

  • This is one of my best memories. Seeing Slipknot on this show changed my life. Thanks for uploading it!

  • I can't believe they appeared on this program

  • Brilliant, I remember I had just bought the album after hearing it in school!! couldnt believe it was on tv so early!!! wats happened, metal needs to be on tv more!!!!

  • @matthewhortop well only ppl who love real music can enjoy it, u cant switch music types it dont work like that so thats y we dont show it on tv, metal is to precious, we cant just show strangers lol

  • @whydoyoueventry fair enough mate, haha. Keep it in the metal circle, although I heard system of a down on the scott mills radio 1 show last week at about 5pm!! awesome!! haha

  • I remember this

  • I remember taping this off TV when it was broadcast. Saw them a few months later. Good memories of the self-titled era.

  • "rock n roll the kids love it" classic line lol.

  • He said Bleed And Wait 3:15

  • @SlipknotGlobal Yea I caught that too... He had the fin cd in his hands

  • Wasn't this show on Slipknot's 10th anniversery dvd during the 50 minute segment about them? The stage looks familiar

  • The complaint by that stupid woman the following week was just pure comedy!

  • @LordGeorgeRodney what did she say?

  • @ObiJoe808 she said something about how they terrified her young children and that content at that time was not suitable in any way whatsoever.

The way she wrote, 'the band Slipknot' was read out in a way that made her look and sound stupid.

  • At least Tfi friday was willing to put things like this on. rare thing on mainstream peak time T.V.

  • i wish slipknot were still like this to be honest.

  • This performance always gives me the gosebumps! Man, TFI Friday was such an amazing show as well. TV sucks nowadays, its all X-Factor and Britain's Got AIDS.

  • lol! Brilliant!

I was at the front of the mosh pit at this show - was crazy. I knew the band at the time and was guest listed, so went down to the Portsmouth gig after as well. This was an awesome day! Never seen a crowd riot like they did at the Guildhall - not even at an Atari Teenage Riot gig. hehe

  • i was in the portsmouth crowd and yes it was a mental night!. i was in the pit and saw one of the security guy take a bottle the face from the balcony and personally laughed at him as he went back backstage. the person who puked from the balcony was not so cool though

  • this gave channel 4 a fright nice 1 SLIPKNOT

  • wow i remember seeing this i was 13, didnt lionel blair wear a corey mask?

  • @haggard182 haha, yes he did. Well, kind of. It was the week after when Chris Evans announced they had secret backstage footage of Slipknot without their masks, and when he showed the clip it was Lionel Blair taking off Corey's mask and smiling at the camera. Good times.

  • lol "Bleed and wait"... was he not listening?

  • He's taking the piss mate. lol

  • OMFG ...3:14 BLEED AND WAIT ROFL

  • I was there... got 8 free tickets for the filming of the show and took my college buddies... was a very good 3 minutes.

  • how good woz that, i remeber watching it, first time i saw em on t.v, wicked man. wot eva happened to tfi friday woz a baggin show?

  • @neilsmurphy1 I remember the next monday at school we were all cussing evans for the slip up :)

  • they would put this on bbc or itv or whatever channel this was what a shame

  • Sometimes they might a little lazy, but they are never bad, they might always not be 200%, but they are never lower than 95%

  • i remember watchin this, i actually remember anticipating it! and then chris even " that's slipknot with bleed and wait" you just dont get that on tv anymore?!

  • @ewskie tv sucks these days : /

  • your such a ass

  • ur comment was marked as spam, so i had to comment down then hide is, disgrace to sipknot and a waste of comment room!

  • This is on the documentry of the (sic)

  • SLIPKNOT = LIFE

  • An AWASOME PERFORMCE of wait and bleed.... i saw this on the ginger man (chris evens) back in 2000 still love it this this day =)

  • BEST WAIT AND BLEED PERFORMANCE

  • This was the first time I heard about Slipknot I got this on tape somewhere

  • I have this on vhs back home. I remember recording it, there were little previews every few minutes.....it was a 'big' event for TFI.

And for the record: I don't think it was a mistake with the presenter saying Bleed and wait.....i think it was a joke of sorts.....i remember him introducing some dude called David Lydon Hall as Lyndon David Hall.....just taking the piss i suppose.

What a great show was TFI.

  • lol that guy was crazy. I remember this.

  • I remember watching that and being totally awed by seeing Slipknot on live mainstream early evening tv.

He may have got the song wrong, but fair play to Evans for letting metal on a family show.

  • @RobTheBuilder Napalm Death were on the show, and while unintentional, Shaun Ryder appeared live on the show twice and said 'fuck' both times. The second he said it several times while performing a cover of Pretty Vacant. While that was unintentional (Chris Evans' face after the latter was priceless), it made TFI Friday an interesting show! All of this at 6PM. So yes, fair play indeed.

  • @RobTheBuilder

    Me too!!

    Fuckin' awesome it was.

Evans still retains kudos for it even now.

  • @RobTheBuilder umm... he didnt get the name of the song wrong?! was a great night, i was in that crowd! hanging off a camera man who then fell on his arse :)

  • I have a live video of slipknot veanlon and comment that such was!

    Slipknot IS ROCK!

  • This Is What Slipknot Does To PPL

  • is that josh brainard playing guitar?

i swear james never used jacksons but josh did :/

but josh left in 1999 and this is 2000

    SO CONFUSED :(

  • nope its jim he played jacksons back in the day dunno if he was endorsed tho

  • "but josh left in 1999 and this is 2000"

Well there's your answer, isn't it? James STILL uses Charvels from time to time.

  • That is James indeed! Probably he wasn't playing with them a long time.. and they probably also didn't had a new guitar player right after Josh left.

    Away confusion? ^^

  • jim used jackson during the first album

  • @bigdude245

It's clearly James, Cuz James joined with Corey... They came together from Stone Sour.

  • @TheAktivision actually no they didn't. Corey came first and Josh still did the guitar for the self titled album. then Jim joined after they recorded it.

  • lol he said bleed and wait.

  • The one and only SLI-NOOP

  • the kids do love it. adults too.

  • the fucking idiot its wait and bleed not bleed and wait, however remember that show i was only 8 lmao

  • he jumps so high omfg :D they start good mosh pits and just kickass at concerts

  • yeah he was short but could jump da fuck up! lol

  • evans you ugly fuckin monkey.....its wait and bleed you fucking nonce

  • oh corey at 0:42 scary shit

  • Haha, 2 cameras went missing after this.

    Wonder who took em? xD

  • Oh rock n roll the kids love it lol

  • im not a big fan of slipknot, their genre, and certainly not their gimpy-ass costumes and turntables... BUT THEY KICK TOTAL ASS WHEN PLAYED LIVE

  • Oh I love Bleed & Wait ;) lol, he is clueless, if this happened today you'd get all the clueless chavs going "hang on mate, what ua chattin, this ent darren styles" its a shame :(

  • wow, it sucks that I missed out on this and only became a fan during the subliminal verses era. it sucks that they don't do this kind of stuff anymore.

  • :/.

  • ahh Slipknot 1999-2000 <3

  • epic video

  • ridicoli

  • love how he yells slipknot!

  • bleed and wait?? wats he smoking?

  • Wouldn't your brain be mixed up after that too?

  • @13yearoldheadbanger Epic fail is epic.

  • remember this so well watching this on telly. me and my mates were about 16 and not the biggest metal fans in the world but all we thought this was so cool and rebellious to be on telly at half 6in the evening- it just wouldnt happen nowadays!! television needs to grow some big hairy balls again!!!

  • i know your right... it sux ass man!

  • yeah too right! it would never happen now! whats happened to the world?!

  • true, reading a book about how tv has gone downhill since tfi and the word

  • Bleed and Wait??

    wtf??

  • my god that was the crziest crowd ive ever seen for a tv show

  • an AMAZING song!!!

  • lol@Brutal, get outta here you fat fuck

  • Brutal!!

  • Wow, Slipknot was actually good. Too bad 13 year olds had to ruin their fanbase.

  • I was there and remember getting told very sternly that we weren't allowed to boo the other shit artists or slipknot wouldnt perform. Also didnt Blink 182 perform afterwards for the same crowd, they were prerecording for the next week's show. Good day, good times =)

  • What year was this? I just want to work out how long I have been a Slipknot fan? In fact I suppose I could work it out in years, months days and minutes if knew the whole date!

  • same here man, this is the first song that i liked by them too.

  • "bleed and wait".....Chris chris chris...

  • I remember watching this at the time and thinking, "That's a cameraman down! And another!" I had goosebumps cos here on my TV was the kind of stuff that'd happen in pits across the country in the mainstream media. How could Top of the Pops survive? Saw them in the pit at Reading Festival with Rage Against the Machine, and Daphne and Celeste (remember them?). It was menacing. There was no way they could keep that intensity up and not self destruct, as Joey predicted in early interviews.

  • " I saw them at Portsmouth Guildhall 3 hours later. They were late on stage, and the anxious crowd to rip up the seats and get the police waiting outside. A good night all around then! "

I was there too man! Remember the crowd chanting fuck you , fuck you , fuck you to each other? Epic bottle fight, epic band!

  • FUCK YEAH! I was on the balcony, throwing stuff down at the people in the pit. I remember seeing some girl throwing her bag from the floor to the balcony, and also a chair bouncing off of someone.

I could see the security guys shaking from way up at the top.

  • I was in the pit, throwing stuff at the people on the balcony! hahah! I remember the chair, people started to calm down a little bit after that.

  • @chrisottridge im from portsmouth aswell, i think i remember this being on the paper, i also heard people died, i heard all kinds of stuff from that gig lol tis crazy times, it wouldnt have surprised me, they really put on a show on TFI friday

  • was supposed to see theese at reading last year, but the drummer broke his ankle!!

  • see! slipknot know how to fucking rip it up! lost 2 camera men! lol

  • Is it Corey Taylor?

  • That portsmouth gig was chaos!

  • Yeah i was that same gig later at pompy. with ONE MINUTE SILENCE and KITTIE as support. times have changed! lol

  • One Minute Silence and Kittie hahaha. That fucking takes me back. Simple times.

    Raging Speedhorn.

  • See back in the day they actually had some balls and played decent bands on t.v. Seeing these guys and Napalm Death was fucking ace.

  • he said bleed and wait wat a ginger faggot

  • No, he didn't

  • at the end of the performance he did

  • I think he was trying to be funny mate....

  • i remember watching this and thinking it was a bad joke, how very wrong i was.... a great metal band

  • I remember the chaos this performance caused ! :D :D, they lost two cameras and never got found since for starters! :D: D.

  • slpknot stay sic!btw hasn't seen in a while their old masks:P

  • This is where it all began for me. There I was one tea-time and had never heard of this new band called Slipknot. Oh my Christ this was mental!!! This was an education and a musical epiphany for me and i have never looked back since.Slipknot still rule after 10 years!! What disposable bands of today will still be around in 10 years? Metal Gods!

  • watched this, then drove down to the sold out pompey guildhall gig and blagged my way in. awesome

  • i did the very same but had a ticket

  • haha i remember watching this!! The camera when off air for a few minutes. :P

  • inside michelle I wait and bleed :)

  • bleed and wait chris aye?

  • I remember watching that the night was originally shown ...was a surreal but awesome experience.

...you gotta remember that around this time you rarely ever saw metal bands on British LATE night tv, so seeing seeing Slipknot live at teatime on a show which was normally had on indie-band crap was MENTAL!

  • I remember watching this when it was aired. I loved 'em back then.

  • that is fucking energetic.

    jesus crist

  • AWESOME!

  • some lady cast a complaint about this which was broadcast in a later episode. she said that she had young kids and they were terrified; having finally seen it for myself i can kind of understand it! :D classic. bit like when At The Drive-In played Jools Holland. search that :D

  • hahahahah....Mum can look to the closet for Corey Tailor...GOOD OLD `TIMES

  • OH YEAH!!, and blobby Williams was on the same show!. Memories! :D.

  • haha i remember this program! Never knew Slipknot appeared on it. How legendary is this????

  • Quality - remember watching this as it went out on TV. Seeing them at Hammersmith Odeon 23/10/08 - gonna be awesome!

  • Awesome. So glad you uploaded this, I missed it when it went out live.

  • But the Black Grape interview was bloody funny

  • brilliant dinner-time viewing! haha, 'rock and roll, the kids love it!'

  • ha i liked when he said that too lol evans was good

  • 0:13 u scared me

  • i remember watching this as it went out, amazing

  • i was there

  • so was i

  • lol you can hear laughing after he says wait and bleed

  • This dude at the beginning looks like that dude who play in the movie "Shaun of the Dead"

    =DDD

  • I vaguely remember seeing this. Shame I didn't become a fan until years later.

  • Probably one of the most awesome live sets ever by a live band on a pretty mainstream early evening TV show ever anywhere .....ever

  • Fucking amazing wish i was there!!!!!!!!!

  • awsome!!!

  • fucking love it this sticks a finger down the throat of manufactured pop shit fucking rockssssssssss

  • Have this on a VHS somewhere but I dont have a video player anymore! so thanks for the upload!

When I recorded it, I must have re-watched it 10 times in row straight afterwards.

    And now I feel old......Thanks a bunch!

  • Jeebus I missed this show when they played. Wicked! I did see when Napalm Death played TFI and it was fooking genius. :D

  • they cancelled the show because chris evans is ginger, the tv people wer just following the rules of the ginger people entertainment regulations act of 1996.

  • bleed and wait

    wat the fuck dats stupid

  • Bleed and wait.

    Dick.

  • i remeber watching this it was awesome

  • TFI was taken off because of all the bad language wasn't it? Wasn't allowed to be live anymore which would pretty much ruin the show.
