Those were things I used to do when I had tons of books..
I will have to jot down a quick note about this for reference so I can tell a few people I have in mind they should do something like this.
I would swear I know a couple people, if they did something like this, it would take weeks..Some people are real pack rats.

I wouldn't recommend organizing by color. It's difficult to maintain if you read often and not very practical for locating books. It is pretty, though.
Howcast: I'd like to see a video on organizing a music library (CDs & vinyl)! Thanks.
