What a pointless cover, why cover something and make it sound almost exactly like the original except slightly faster, you might as well just listen to the gbv versionl.Least lou barlow interpreted it a different way and thus made it worth listening to,american idol contestants approach there covers more imaginatively and creatively then jimmy do here.proficient? yes interesting? hell no
Interesting, I think the version on "Fututre Sound of America" (2004 Moveon.org fundraiser comp) is a little different. I remember it sounding more polished... whether you think that is a god or bad thing is up to you.
Gotta say, this is a really good cover. I never liked this band much but now I've found two covers by them - the other a Wedding Present song - and they're great.
@pavimento....I own every gbv album....and about 50 other albums which are considered to be brp ...(bob related product) ..and that doesn't even count Tobin....and I think this kicks way too much ass!
i agree black. Let's face.. Nobody but Nobody could cover this song, as My Vitriol have already proved, but they BOTH must be fans so... May Bob Bless Them!
This is the indie version of The Wallflowers' cover of Heroes - if you're just going to do a half-assed exact cover of the original, why the ef did you release it? +1 on the fail.
Fail. Too much like the original. Why did they bother. See Nights in White Satin by Dickies or Can't Explain by Snuff for how a good punk cover should sound.
@pavimento GBV sounds a lot like The Beatles but no where near as good as (I do love the under 2 minute songs by GBV though.

@pavimento13 not even close, although i've always thought rp's vocals sounded like a strange blend of john, paul and george's, all at the same time..
