hm jetz habich nen mod installiert der neue musik und neue neue zivilisationen beinhaltet. ist aber nicht besser geworden. nach wenigen sekunden im gefecht hängts sich wieder auf und ich kann zwar weiterspielen wenn ich mich raus "alt+tab"be und wieder reingehe aber dann kommt kurze zeit später wieder das aufhängen...

I'm aggravated, I lost all my progress on this game once my computer was reformatted and then I couldn't play it on my computer since we haven't installed it either. I use to play this game everyday and it was probably one of my favorites and now I don't even play it anymore. The Roman Empire was a monster of a kingdom that was both brutal, bloody and relentless. Christianity was what finally changed it, not praetorians who were thugs mercenaries that protected debauched emperors. Interesting enough the Praetorian guard is mentioned in the Bible in the book of Acts when Paul was held.

In a battle i believe that the praetorians would win because of their tactical superiority over the hoplite phalanx of the spartans, although they spartans would be a very very difficult foe to overcome. In a single combat between a praetorian and a spartan hoplite, i think the spartan would be victorious because he is constantly under harsh training by the age of 7, while the preatorian is a very well trained professionall soldier.

Well, at one time, a corrupt Praetorian commander killed the emperor and took his place. Some time later he was killed himself, and the Praetorians sold the Empire to the highest bidder.

Praetorians were originally the soldiers who stood guard in front of the tent of a Praetor. They then involved into the private military force who decided who could rule and who couldn't, emperors could only sit on the throne with their permission :P
