  • There is another way. If you trace the outline of a reference picture and then spin it you can create a very realistic glass.

  • Great Tut. However I have a question...

I wanted to fill the glass with pouring wine but...when I drop fluid into the glass it hits the bottom but then pours through the side of the glass...any ideas ??

    Thanks Dave

  • @DiggerDave1968 Thanks.

Ah the fluid sim, it's not great and doesn't always work right, unfortunatly i havent used it that often so i can't give much advice on it, how ever look on blenderguru and blendercookie both are dot com if you know what i mean, they have some stuff on the fluid sim.

  • @bogieman987

Thanks for the reply. I've looked on Guru, in fact thats where I got the idea from as he has fluid spilling from a cup but his does not seem to leak like mine...

Oh one more thing if you don't mind ;-), when I render my wine glass it seems to come out at a completely different aspect than the camera, I press '0' and line up my shot but the render seems to come out much squarer....any ideas or should I start taking up a new hobby...

Once again thanks for your vid's.

  • @DiggerDave1968 No problem, don't give up on this hobby, it's hard at first but when you use it for a while it gets alot easier. Not sure what your problem is, could i see your .blend?

  • @bogieman987

For sure, if you don't mind. Where should I send it ?

  • @DiggerDave1968 Upload it to a website like MediaFire and send me the download link, i will download it and have a look, if i can figure it out i'll tell you how to do it.

There you go, I really appreciate your help matey !!

It won't let me put the rest of the address in, but it's mediafire

  • @DiggerDave1968 Ok your problem is the "aspect ratio" i suspect you used a blender preset, my advice, DON'T.

Instead just type in the resolutions of what you want.

Also you'll find the aspect ratio in the same area where you select what resolution and stuff.

  • @DiggerDave1968 Heres a list of resolutions and what they are equal to

    Standard-definition television (SDTV):

480i (NTSC uses an analog system of 486i split into two interlaced fields of 243 lines)

576i (PAL, 720×576 split into two interlaced fields of 288 lines)

    Enhanced-definition television (EDTV):

    480p (720×480 progressive scan)

    576p (720×576 progressive scan)

    [continued]

  • @DiggerDave1968 High-definition television (HDTV):

    720p (1280×720 progressive scan)

1080i (1920×1080 split into two interlaced fields of 540 lines)

    1080p (1920×1080 progressive scan)

  • @bogieman987

Thanks for that, I will have a play. Just got to stop the fluid going all over the place then jobs a good'en.:-)

  • @DiggerDave1968 No problem, sorry i can't help with the fluid lol

  • @Wrathundu Middle mouse button :)

  • @bogieman987

What middle mouse button? The scroll? That only zooms in and out for me.

  • @Wrathundu Press in the middle mouse button, its a button aswell as scroll :)

  • @bogieman987 Thanks =)

  • @Wrathundu Unless you have a mouse that only scrolls lol. I think there is a differant way, i'll look into it now :)

  • Hi, I am really enjoying your tut's, but i have no experience at all in blender and its getting harder to keep up, I usually watch them in full screen and 720 and I can't see where you click, do you think it is possible to make your video a little bigger or improve the quality.

Nerveless thank you for your tutorials. You don't get the credit you deserve.

(If I was not clear please tell me, I am not an English Speaker)

  • @XMLV3Bot 1st off you have perfect engilsh, 2nd i record at 1690x1050 and then downscale to 1280x720, i guess that could be a problem, from now on ill record at 1280x720 there shouldn't be any quality problems due to changing resolution.

Other than that i'll try and explain what im clicking, where it is and for a couple of times why im clicking it.

Im aiming to make them harder, to throw you in the deep end.

Then ill make it easy again and then harder.

    Just prcatice, practice, practice. :)

  • @bogieman987 Thank you for the quick response and for the advise. I will continue watching your videos (and pausing them a lot to keep up).

It is said that practice makes the master.

  • @XMLV3Bot No problem and lol, also i have been at it for around 2 years, 3 years on and off but around 2 years worth :)
