@blhrm5 You have to remember he grew up with the knowledge that power is the only thing that matters, that being the best is what a true Saiyan is all about, that strength is only weakened but emotions. That is who Vegeta is and always will be. Goku grew up on Earth and lost his memory when he was a child so he fought to test his limits.

Vegeta had a very nice character development, even if he did get cut very shot in many fights, his story was incredible.

The next person Goku fights is Recoome, which Goku knocked out and Vegeta killed, same with Burter. Ginyu was switched with a frog. Goku destroyed a lot of Frieza's, but didn't kill him. Goku tried to kill Cell, but was unable to. Goku DID kill Yakon. And finally, Goku killed Kid Buu

Even though vegeta has gone through some vigorous training himself, he has never trained hardcore or intense in the other world, which supposedly raises ur strenght tenfold. hence, w/o dying, goku would never have reached ssj3 and buu would have easily killed them. And even so, it impossible for a siayn to reach that power w/o any special training
