Dude already totaled my ride. Anyway, he bails and I miss the snow bank I was aiming for by about the space of a large building. OUCH! I'm still doing a parts inventory when there's that same meatbag.again. What the Frak did I do to him? Nail his mom? Before I could say "Hey.. Dude! The war is over!" or "I didn't know that was your mom!", he's wailing on me with a fraking pipe. I had had it. I just shut down until he went away. Seriously, that guy is going to get people killed one day.
@WarEagle122 Awesome! I was looking for the files I used for the speech synth, but this is much better (there's some weird spelling in those to get the synth to pronounce things correctly.) Keep going!
We were lighting up meatbags like it was Guy Fawkes Day. Guy Fawkes...just roll with it! Anywho, we get the call that the war is over so we start heading back. Only one of the meatbags apparently started Miller Time a little early. He's flying like he's got his eyes closed. He sure as frak isn't looking at his DRADIS because he totally head-ons me! I SO had the right of way! Whatever! I go thru the windshield and the next thing I know the meatbag is shooting at me. I mean, what the Frak?
Brilliant - I love the working class aesthetic here, in the sense that you are giving a voice to the "working class" cylons. To the canon fodder, as it were.
I just found this. Larry and Gary, and you beat me by over a year. I'm surprised you didn't mention it before, or were you thinking I ripped you off the whole time? And yes, I'm missing a duck.
I'm not sure I completely understand the question. "Larry" was coined in a BSG fan site as a name for the retro-cylons in the new BSG, and was then applied to the original cylons. I got it from there. (Another video guy coincidently chose 'Gary' for an original cylon in a different series.)
So, any other mentions are either riffing off of these or are also coincidental.
by the way my grammer and sentence was indeed horrible - it was late. But thanks for the explaination as I now know where the Cylon name Larry comes from.
Fyi, the Cylon Centurions were voiced by Michael Santiago using the EMS Vocoder 2000 Beta and a (electric) saxophone!!! Originally they were going to use Lou Ferrigno and run his voice with either or both the hissing of a rattlesnake or cobra, and run them through a ring-modulator.
Tucker, I've searched for that episode of Sealab all over You Tube, it's not here. It's were there is a pressure leak on SeaLab and the whole thing goes, pod by pod! The PA voice is computerized, sounds just like that Cylon!
... yes, i missing a dog, Mr Cylon...
btw, this is awesome!

@OneMinuteGalactica Heh, no. I'm under no delusion that it was a particularly original idea. Cylons make for easy lip-syncing.
(BTW, it's supposed to be 'dog,' i.e. Jake from New Caprica. But everyone hears 'duck.' Such are the limitations of speech synth.)

Why people excuse me cylons if this kind always have the name Larry.... even such a name is mention in POTC.

In some countries Larries like a name Albert quite stereotype for some people in a some what 'nerdy' or clumsiness way of thinking and acting.
viowave 2 years ago
Oh, that's interesting. Which countries? In the US it's a very ordinary name.

@viowave No, don't be sorry, yours are probably the best comments I've ever read on this site! Don't ever change :)

Does it? I haven't seen that show. Is there a clip with the PA on youtube?

Oh well, I'll have to add it to my Wish List. Thanks for checking, though!

Just to back up Starhawk yeah, this definitely does sound like the PA from Sealab now that I think about it. Weird, haha.
Are you using a mac by any chance?
MattJessop 3 years ago
Yep. It's the built-in speech ("Zarvox" voice,) with a few tweaks. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find someone using similar settings.
