All these teams did was buy up talent because there was no salary cap. Also, Detroit is an Original Six team so you can't compare their amount of cups to teams that came in through expansion. Hossa is not as good as Malkin or Crosby. He's a bit underrated, I'll grant you that, but Crosby and Gino have both had an MVP type season in the last two years, and I have news for you: they aren't getting any worse. I`m a Pens fan but Detroit outplayed us and deserved to win. The passes they made reminded me of the `80 Oilers and Fleury made some great saves especially game 5 but he did allow some weak goals. Congrats Detroit but the Pens will be back!

As a longtime fan of both teams (back from the Jagr, kaspiritis, (original) fleury days I can say I was disappointed in the pens in how they played. Not how well, but how they did. Beyond that they played hard and I commend them for that.

I was sick with a major cold during the Finals. I was up by myself at 2:30 am when this goal happened, sipping Neo Citran & sniffling like hell. Normally, I go nuts when the Pens score on TV (my fiancee can attest to this), & I should have gone ballistic when this goal happened, but I was so ill & out of it that I raised one fist lightly, keeled over in my chair, & said "I'm taking some NyQuil & going to sleep."
Two nights later, I'm feeling better, & the Pens lost. Go figure....

maybe, maybe not. he certainly didn't hurt our team, as he won't hurt yours either. the real key was fleury, and the missing link was malkin and whatever was plaguing him.
crosby tied zetterberg for the playoff points lead while playing in two fewer games, so i wouldn't say he didn't do shit.
if you are a wings fan, on paper you're a lock to repeat, but you should know how hard it is to come out of the west 2 years in a row. there's always an '06 edmonton that gets hot at the right time

Hossa really only made the East playoffs a little easier. They lawnmowered every team they went against, they didn't really need Marian.
Crosby > Hossa. Malkin > Hossa.
Althought the Pens probably get swept in the Final or lose in five without Hossa. The loss of Hossa will hurt Pgh, but it's not going to obliterate their team.

I'm not a Pens fan.
Hossa is not as good as Malkin or Crosby. He's a bit underrated, I'll grant you that, but Crosby and Gino have both had an MVP type season in the last two years, and I have news for you: they aren't getting any worse. They are clearly in the top 5 players in the league today. Same cannot be said for Hossa. Nothing against Hossa, he's just not at their talent level.
But the Wings are sick this year. Absolutely disgusting. The obvious preseason Cup favorite.

I`m a Pens fan but Detroit outplayed us and deserved to win. The passes they made reminded me of the `80 Oilers and Fleury made some great saves especially game 5 but he did allow some weak goals. Congrats Detroit but the Pens will be back!

Whats sad about this is that the Pens LOST the game they could have won. What does that mean you say? As a longtime fan of both teams (back from the Jagr, kaspiritis, (original) fleury days I can say I was disappointed in the pens in how they played. Not how well, but how they did. Beyond that they played hard and I commend them for that.
I hope 2008-2009 holds a regular season game between both teams... good luck to both.
