Today Kosovo celebrated 1 year of independance.

It also plans to join the EU.

Just out of interest...what legal right do EU police have to be in Kosovo, a state not recognised by half of the world's nations ( including some European countries ) ? The United Nations Court has yet to decide on the status of this "state".

PS. I am NOT anti-Albanian, just interested in the legality of over 1 billion of European taxpayers Euros being spent on a non EU country infrastructure & policing.

Kosovo aims to join the EU. This is an aim from Kosovo not from the EU. For the reasons you stated (Kosovo not being recognised by several European nations)it hasn't got any chance of even being accepted as a candidate.

For Kosovo to have any prospect of joining the EU a LOT will have to chance. Both within Kosovo and within the world.

The reason that many people hate the EU is that they know very little about it. I learned how European law is made and it's sound. It's not perfect, but what system is perfect? Law class has taught me some of the bad decisions made by the British government that the European Court of Justice has put right.

lol totally true! i know many people here in brazil that have european citizenship for only one reason: being able to spend their holidays in europe without too much burocracy. but there's also many students who want to go study in european universities on exchange programs, and the citizenship makes it a lot easier to be able to work while you're doing your studies there.

Why does every country has different rules for immigration? I am from the NL and our rules are very strict and almost unlivable. I as a Dutch citizen does not agree with these rules at all. If you are not an EU citizen you'll have to do an exam to prove you understand the culture and the language. These exams are so stupid that even the native Dutch citizens does not succeed the exam. These exams are unnecessary and offending.
