  • @luerexbob 1967 Train stock are now in trashyards.

  • y u no have air con new train?!

  • When the train pulled up I was reminded of that lovely tube platform smell. Unique smell to London I believe, I've never seen a subway system smell just like it.

  • i love london underground its best metro system on the planet in my view! and their new rolling stock is amazing! keep up the excellent work lu.

  • I don't know if you were aware, but this unit, 11003, is one of the now scrapped prototype 2009TS sets (11001-004), so this is somewhat of a rare piece of footage.

  • it looks so slow there as today they are much faster.

  • @BigFoot8336 One of the first days of service that's why! Also, it was coming out of the depot!

  • They look like 1992 stock...remastered!!!!

  • @LondonCityTour Because Bombardier Made it(Bombardier Acquired ADtranz in 2001 along with the Derby Factory and other various adtranz products except the incentro line which was suspended for production)

  • ive beeen on those

  • today i got on 4 new victoria line trains because two of them terminated early and i also saw 3 new ones on the other side of the station when passing through

  • those new trains are sexy

  • lols no all trains come everyday its like a house full of trains and stations and all i went to embankment station the centrel line was packed

  • -.- never see that train i only see the 1967 trains

  • @kaiyan246 Unlucky.

  • is it true that this train only comes every 2 weeks?

  • @captaincoolpants11 Nope they're out every day I think.

  • @luerexbob I am from toronto Canada. we have a station that looks very much like the top one. its called Queens Park.

  • @sabbirsa It's great to talk to someone that is from canada, the same place the train builder of this train bomardier originated.

  • @LondonCityTour Thank you so much. I have always wanted to go to London. If I ever go there I will use the Metro system for sure. The Trains look so elegant and love the seating arrangements. And I did not know that Bombardier made these stocks. The new Toronto Subway cars, coming in 2011, are also made by Bombardier as well as Montreal Metro and Stockholm Metro.

  • @sabbirsa intresting.

  • @luerexbob I think the 2009TS is made by bombardier cause I looked on wikipedia

  • @Cazkumali It is, built in derby By Bombardier

  • @LondonCityTour That trains very posh

  • @Cazkumali yeah

  • @captaincoolpants11 I read on a poster on the tube that they introduce a NEW 2009 stock train every two weeks. According to TFL the line uses up to 37 trains at any one time so I guess it'll be a while before we no longer see the old stock on the line!

  • @captaincoolpants11 No, a new 2009 stock train gets introduced every 2 weeks. Now, the entire fleet is made up of 2009 stock

  • where are the 1967 stocks

  • @spartan117ism Still here.

  • -.- between the 25th and the 30th august victoria line closed theres no sence putting a new train without safty doors like the jubilee

  • @kaiyan246 Would be way too expensive.

  • the 2009 stock is a piece of shit

  • @kamil2010able Haha well it has had a lot of problems recently.

  • @luerexbob The 'problems' are not the trains themselves just the sensitive edges being tripped and not knowing the proper reset procedures.

  • definately a better looking one! nice upgrade, looks alot like the 1992 stock on the Central Line, both are much more open and spacious than the more cramped stocks like those on the picadilly or northern. this one definately sounds better too, no creepy deep sounds!

  • @ut91 I like them a lot!

  • Why can't they have a tube station in Edmonton Green! It's not fair.

  • @sonictails133 i was thinking something similar too! the victoria line could have great potential of serving parts of north-east london without tube stations such as edmonton, enfield and chingford

  • @ut91 Absolutely. I dislike NXEA.

  • wow they have certainly sorted out the squeaky breaks :L

  • @mingereilly Never heard of the squeaky brakes :S

  • @mingereilly That's metal grinding against metal. Pretty hard to avoid.

  • well they release a new train every two weeks and i think the first one was release in november and now its april so im guessing theres 10 or 11 or 12 new trains in serivice but if you know how many there are id like to know

  • @drwhoboy7. The releasing a new train every 2 weeks was supposed to start from January '10. I think there are around 5 2009 stock trains in London at the moment.

  • @drwhoboy7 There are 5 production 2009 stock trains in service, and two others delivered. The second pre-production train hasn't run in service recently.

  • Right, new trains now all we need to to is modernize the stations, make them safer and look beautiful, these stations are so ugly gosh,

  • Any reason this one seemed slow pulling into the station?

  • i got on this train from finsbury park to stockwell after arsenal beat liverpool 2-1 the journey is awesome but the seats look uncomfortable.

  • @tubeinfoboy123 They're not that bad.

  • nah i was just saying they look like they are ive sat on this train before its very comfortable.

  • How many of these trains are there?

  • @nicolads1 To be honest, I have no idea. I'm thinking 4.

  • There are two trains in service - pre-production train 2 (the one in the video) and train 4. The first pre-production train is being used for testing, but can't run in service.

  • The Victoria Line is over 40 years old and has the biggest tunnels. When they built the line they wasn't expecting such a rapid incline in use. These are the biggest "tube" trains on the network by design and take advantage of the Victoria Line's larger loading gauge.

You can't make wide trains without wide tunnels. On a tube system it's not about the size of the train but it's about the acceleration, braking rates and frequency of the trains that moves passengers quickly from A to B.

  • why did they make trains so narrow and crammped. It sad that they have made public transport som crampped. british trains are so narrow you barelyt have enough room to walk by people feet. There's not enough room on any of britains public transport. THey didn't think when designing these trains to make them wide. Thats the thing that puts me off public transport is the lack of space. England isnt know for being spacious in public compared to places like houston which are very large

  • The S stock sub-surface trains are joined the way they are not only to improve space, but primarily to improve safety, this stops people falling off in between the carriages.

Also bear in mind that the 2009 stock is a *pre-production* train, when the first official 2009 stock enters service (train 003) there will be many modifications though the bendy style you see will not be one of those. This is because of the trains shape i.e. it's smaller than the S stock.

  • The first production 2009 stock to enter service will be train 4 (train 3 is still at Derby).

  • The sections between cars on the S stock are joined (like on a bendy bus). I have never seen this on any tube train. Wouldn't this cause problems for coupling/uncoupling cars in case of faults and stuff?

Also if it's a good idea then why doesn't the 2009 stack have the same feature as the S stock?

  • @muncasteroger I think they have chosen walk through cars for the S Stock is to give even more space. I dont think they plan to uncouple and couple - they never do that and havent done it for years. I believe it is only done at depots.

  • Yes, they haven't run short trains in service since the early 1970s. It is not possible to run short trains of 1972, 1995, 1996 and 2009 stock in serivce anyway, because each unit only has one cab.

On some lines, trains are uncoupled in depots often, but on the Jubilee and Northern, this only seems to happen if one unit will be out of service for a while.

S stock will only be uncoupled in emergencies.

  • i take that back. the 1992 and 2009 stocks have the highest acceleration/deceleration. I would have expected the jubilee (1995) and northern (1996) stocks to be similar in acceleration but they're not.

  • The 1995 and 1996 stocks have their performance limited. They should have better acceleration when the Jubilee and Northern lines are upgraded.

  • it's funny how no other rolling stock accelerates out of and decelerates into a station as fast as the 1992 Central line rolling stock. The other ones seem to amble in quite slowly.

  • 1992 stock has the best acceleration at the moment because the Central has ATO, and all cars on 92TS have motors.

S stock will eventually accelerate as fast as the 92TS, when the sub-surface lines get ATO.

2009 stock also have good acceleration, but I think they have their performance limited at the moment to the same as the 67TS.

  • nice video

  • Thanks!

  • Shes a Female 2009 stock train. The Mother and Farther of Bakerloo and Victoria.

  • The Annoucer must love her job boy...
