  • Love that purring, growling sound the soloist is getting on the lower end of the instrument's range. Beautiful.

  • Four people are out of their minds to dislike this!

  • oboe rocks!!! (i do play the oboe too) :)

  • what reed is he using? o_o

  • the number of the work is wrong bwv 955 is a Fugue in B-flat major

the correct number is bwv 1055

  • Virtuoso! very refreshing , fluent and modern to me.

  • Virtuoso! very refreshing , fluent and modern to me.

  • super!

  • @loveMusiqueMJ Don't forget the heckelphone and the lupophone which makes 7.

  • @oboisto Heckelphone and lupophone are all variations of the bass oboe really.

  • i hear the voice of god singing to me

  • @moman1208 Michael Jackson said the same thing about the faces of children, bro.

  • is it me or does it sound baroque? does anyone know where the sound of baroque instruments are coming from in this video?

  • @JumpingTin No, these are all modern instruments.

You can identify baroque instruments by some tell-tale signs.

The bows of the string instruments have a more pointy end, and the wood often curves outwards, rather than towards the hairs.

    Brass instruments have no valves.

Oboes have no or almost no metal bits, and the wood is of a lighter colour.

Bassoons don't taper outwards at the end, and they don't have that caracteristic white ring that modern bassoons have.

  • @JumpingTin of course it sounds baroque, think who its by...

  • OMG ALBRECHT MAYER! OMG BACH! OMG THIS PIECE! ALL THINGS I REALLY LIKE! I VOTE THUMBS UP!

  • i want to practice harder, just like him, and to serve God with beautiful music like J.S Bach

  • @whitevanillamuffin How beautiful to hear something like this. Wish you all the power of the will so your dream come true.

  • What is the thing connecting the reed to the oboe? Never seen that before! (:

Ha ha, but this is seriously AMAZING! The accompaniment part was very nice, and the oboe was fantastic! (:

  • @coconutjuicey

this instrument is a cor anglais, it is bigger and lower than an oboe and has a different shaped reed.

  • @loveMusiqueMJ It's not a cor anglais! It's an oboe d'amore. Tuned a terst below the normal oboe, so higher than the cor anglais!

  • @magdanip

wow, i didn't know there were 3 types of oboe! i'll bear that in mind

  • @loveMusiqueMJ theres actually more than 3

    piccolo oboe

    oboe

    oboe d'amore

    english horn

    bass oboe

  • @Oboeplayer511

    wow 5. ok

  • I AM IN LOVE

  • you are a true genius

  • Absolutely magnificent. This is the best in High and Elevated Culture, and what mankind can aspire to. This is a product of the European minds.

  • @FishEaster very right

  • @FishEaster Great video. Stupid comment.

  • @checkthiskidoutt , I see. Only Politically Correct comments are permissible, and being a Black, Hispanic, and Jewish and proudly promoting these cultures are fine. It's how not fine to be proud of the White European elevated culture, but

stick-in-the-nose human flesh eating (Do Youtube search for cannibalism and Liberia; Cannibalism and Ivory Coast, Cannibalism of Pygmy in Congo) and watermellon and fried chicken eatin, and Jewy Havtikkah and Menorrah romping is fine. Let's meet, 21 yrs old.

  • excellent performance albeit too fast..good nontheless

  • Sehr schön, Wunderbar !!!

  • I WAS THERE!

    AMAZING CONCERT!

  • Questo Concerto suonato così è strepitoso, la Voce dell'Anima che canta la vera Bellezza ... Ganna

  • Bellissimo !

  • Well this is a transcription from the Harpsichord Concerto No.4, BWV 1055, actually my question is Did J.S. Bach transcribe this concerto for the oboe?

  • @clarinete09 It's the other way around: it was first a concerto for oboe and Bach transcribed it for harpsichord.

    Merci

  • Albrecht Mayer and the Festival Strings Lucerne with J.S. Bach: Konzert A-Dur für Oboe damore, Streicher und B.c. BWV 1055a

at the KKL Luzern, CH. Same concert hall as in the video.

  • Love Albrecht, but Holliger's recording is better. Nice tempo and spirit, though.

  • @bryan21tx Could you get the holliger´s version and share with us ?
