Tip: When a horse is pulling back, let it's head go and don't try pulling it or keeping it in place becuase all your teaching it is to keep pulling back.. If you let his head go, and let him back up, he knows he can get away, and will stop fighting to get away, and eventually will not pull back anymore... I got this from CLinton Anderson, and it worked on my TB mare who had a horrible problem of pulling back.

I know there are certain things you're not supposed to do when a horse is bucking, like pull on the reins, grip with your spurs, etc... but honestly you don't think of those things when it happens. This one was about 11 seconds, but most of the ones (that I've seen at least) are just a couple seconds. Unless you have ninja-like reflexes, most people don't remember all of the "technical" stuff and just try to stay on!

Never, EVER yank the reins when a horse bucks, because any horse can rear up, and fall back on YOU. (:

@1002Lollipop wtf, one he can ride i mean hell he pulled himself back on mid canter after being disoriented by his horse bucking about like that,that is amazing and shows that he does ride very well. from what i could see his spur tapped the horse at the wrong time and set him off, and from what i've read he hadn't been ridden in a while as well also what do his teeth have to do with anything? if his teeth were bad enough to cause that kind of freak out they would have noticed when briddled him

I notice the rider has his legs and feet VERY close to the horse during the initial gallop and he was wearing spurs, seems the spurs dug into the horse perhaps inadvertently and caused the bucking.. A helmet is ALWAYS a good idea when riding ANY horse...

@bayyliner very observant. I think you are right. We had spurs on trying to look "authentic" for our western movie, but we weren't using them or meaning to use them on the horses.
