Actually, it is efficient. Maybe not to the average person who fills out mounds of paperwork and doesn't know how bureaucracy operates.

They are organized, run by educated individuals, have divisions of labor, strict rules and regulations that everyone must follow, and use institutional memory and cost-benefit analysis for making decisions.

The paperwork you fill out contributes to institutional memory and allows various bureaucracies to keep records they may need to access later.

@reaperjg What asshole did you sprawl from? Everyone does, despite it's inefficiencies, it's far more efficient than any other system we have to date.

Not to say it's the ultimate system. There are many instances of fraud and I wouldn't doubt that it will become obsolete, but it's far from the garbage you paint it as.

@reaperjg Of course I know that, it gets to the point where it grows to big and "expands to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy". That's why it must be regulated and minimized, and so long as it doesn't grow grotesquely massive, it's quite efficient. Not perfect or impervious to inefficiencies, but it's better than the other shit we have on the shelf.
