@kempouk A simple C+ in high school english class would suffice. I've got 11 years as a roofer under my belt, and I still manage to read and know spelling and grammar. That's one of the reasons why I'm a project manager now. Being able to speak and write proper english is a big part of roofing(in America). I've worked with so many derelicts it's not even funny. What ended up happening to them? They either got fired or are still wearing their toolbelt now at 50, 30 years later.
@Astromyxin im to good at my job and would hate all that office crap, we find over here if you cant lay a roof to top standars then just get a job in the office lol..
@kempouk I still put my toolbelt from time to time, and I still enjoy it, don't get me wrong. It's just that carrying bales of tiles or bundles of shingles or rolls of rubber around forever doesn't really sound like an enticing future to me. I got to where I am by being the best at what I do, understanding the products and roofing system applications of the area, not the other way around. I ain't no desk jockey. I do have a pretty bitchin' clipboard though, hehe. Sorry I ragged on your english.
To start i want to practice on this minnie slate roof that needs tearing down anyway.. would anybody have some realistic & good guidence for me to avoid a catastrophie, it would be much appreciated,
A good video of what NOT to aspire to.. i have no experience in tiling or roofing.. I live in a 1930's house think my tiles are def coming to the end of their life which are becoming porous & have rotted the top of my fascia boards... i want to do my own roof as i cant afford rip off trade prices & do half arsed jobs anyway if you don’t know them.., i want my roof done (PROPERLY) i bought, Roof Tiling and Slating:Guide by Kevin Taylor, gotta start somewhere right..
If the theme song for the BENNY HILL SHOW wasnt playing I would have stopped watching. Seriously this is the absolute worst ive ever seen.40 years of roofing and im glad its in UK and not in US.
trust me if i knew who did it it would be all over here mate, they guy who did it was a decorator who told the builder he and his son could sort out the roof, and sort it out they did,,, hahahaha....
25 years roofing and i see this sort of stuff all the time. Imagine being that poor sod pulling up to your house and looking at your new roof everyday. It must be sole destroying especially if you not got the money to replace it.
I always tell people don't have your washing machine repaired by someone who comes from a place where they do their laundry in the river by beating them on rocks.
The same applies to roofing.
If you were raised in a straw hut or a tent, what the hell do you know about roofing?
This is terrible. I am a roofer and the people who did this have failed on every level. No proper setting out of the roof , the workmanship is terrible. What a waste of good gear. At least good tradesman can look at this and feel good about the standard of work he can acheive. Whats that saying ..... You pay peanuts you get monkeys ??
has the ready mix lorry turned up yet im waiting to bed the velux, and tomorrow son we are going the fit the 4x2 under-cloaks, after that we will be fitting the half inch ply barge boards, then screw the tiles to the roof,
oh and to stop the dormer flat roof from leaking we shall be masticating the tile perps over at least 4 courses, that should fix it...
it goes on and on and on,,
and they saved a few bob on fitting gutter brackets at 2.4 m intervals lol..
its the world we live in,typical english trying to save a few bob on building works! i mean a hip iron on main ridge tree! did they caterpult the darbo on or wot....
I have been roofing for 48yrs...........I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I have seen this standard of workmanship many times before on roofs appalling. You we right not to try and repair the leaks, in my opinion it would cost more for repairing the roof than to strip and start afresh, that apart, you are seen repairing this abortion and folk passing by will think you have done the job!

@Scimiter1948 i just saw on on a billionaires house cost 1/2 a million for the roof us.. and the only thing keeping the water out was ice and water shield...it's just crazy...
@TheCrazyturnip lol, if you did that roof you need your bumps felt mate, thats proper shite,, no wonder you cant get fekall work in your own country, leave ours the fek alone lmao,,, :-)
how much did your client pay for this roof, before you got there??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
you get what you pay for, the guy who ruined this roof..god bless him if it wasnt for guys like this i have people offering me 10 quid an hour and try to reach impossible bargains with me.
LMAO man have you got their number? i got some 'ridge irons' to fit and a velux to concrete in HAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!! Classic vid kempouk keep up the good work
What the heck is that in the valley , Caulk ? What is metal or counter flashing lol . I see lead or is that Ice and water shield everywhere ? Wow is all I can say
we were asked to go and put the roof right, i couldn't resist taking some pictures lol. i told the owner that his best bet would be a bull dozer and start all over again.
you got to love the 4 by 2 under-cloaks up the verges, and the ridge irons, they are a new one on me, in fact the whole job seems to reflect on what happens when you haven't got a fukin clue as to how to fit a roof..
we didn't take the job on in the end as all the owner wanted was us to stop the leaks..
So there is hacks in the UK as well as the US .. I bet they spend a bunch of money to have you make it water tight since there was so many penetrations throughout the roof . I assume it looks ugly as hell LOL . At least ugly doesn't leak!
they did, and guess what, all they had was a mobile contact number for the decorator who told the Jewish owner that he could fit the roof, its easy to do lmao..
hell, much better than the goof troops on this side of the pond do! i'll put together a vid and post soon.
