  • I just wish MTH would make the engine a little bigger and put bigger drive wheels on it I can't stand how tiny those drivers are.

  • i got that set i love it

  • Now I Want To Get This. To Go Along With My J Class Train Set As Well.

  • steam engine 4449

  • how do you stop the train

  • i think it has enough smoke

  • Not for M.T.H!

  • There's one thing I don't like about Protosound 2.0, the J engine and the daylight engine- they both have the same whistle even though they're completley different in real life.

  • You can change the whistle if you have DCS. Spend about $400 on a J and you'll get one that's Railking but with Premier quality and a whistle that sounds like the Hancock 3 chime on the 611.

  • i dont like anything about mth but the smoke mth puts the same whistles and chuffing sounds on most of there locos

  • Is it me, or does the whistle sound like a deisel horn?

  • its just you

  • these trains have a horn and wistle

  • thanks

  • hey is that o 27 curves i was wondering

  • Yep All MTH Railking Ready To Runs Have O-27 Curves.

  • Nope, while many MTH RailKing cars and locomotives will run on 027 curves, the sharpest curve that MTH makes is 031.

  • @dirtbag1966 No, they come with O-31. The engine and cars will run on O-27, though.

  • @dirtbag1966 0-31

  • It's a good thing that MTH has joined with Lionel.

  • Yeah - you get the best of both worlds. :)

  • Yeah, well not everyone has $1200 for a Lionel.

  • I own this. And it is a nice set. If you bought this from lionel the engine by itself is over $1,200.00 But this set from MTH is $375.00 and works just as well.

  • I agree i have a lionel layout it is priced high, but i still love it. but i got to give it to that MTH train did you see all that smoke that was comeing out of its like its almost real!!!!

  • I got mine for $260.

  • where!!!!!!!!!

  • My local model train store. I live in Hawaii so Sandy Flemming's Fast Elec-Tricks may not be the best place to order it from.

  • I have both this set and the Lionel LEGACY GS-4, and while this is a nice set, it is not even in the same League as the Lionel. The Lionel is SCALE size, not 027, and is an ACCURATE SCALE MODEL. There is no comparison between them, the same as saying that a Pinto and a Mercedes are both automobiles.

  • so, not every on can afford a 1200 dollar train with a 500 dollar legacy system. its just a starter set. heck mine works good enough for me,

but it would be nice to have a bigger engine.=)

  • The Lionel GS-4 can be run in conventional mode, without the legacy system, which the current MSRP is $349.99 NOT $500.00, and they can be found for about $260.00, lets not exagerate OK?

My point was you are not comparing similar models. I have both, and I do LIKE the MTH Bantam GS-4, but it still is not in the same league.

  • @daogrady Well It's Short Because It's Part Of A Starter Set So They Have To Make It Short So It Will Be A Resanble Price For New Comers And Expaneders In O scale Model Railroading.
