@badmanelias. I think you are wrong. The "dumb" (politcally correct now "differently abled") boy was not with his girlfriend. It was simply that the girlfriend killed and cooked the parrot to get back at the parrot for squealing on her.
He is singing about his cheating girlfriend, & that his pet talking parrot & his girlfriend's retarded son(dumb boy) was telling him about what was going on while he was away@ work but he could'nt understand what the retarded boy was saying when he says "ooo ha boom hey hey" he is trying to mimic noises heard during sex, the girl then kills the talking parrot 2 try n keep him from finding out about her cheating but it fails.

It's a Calypso from the 1950's, the song was later used by various artists in the 70's 80's after they changed the lyrics but kept the chrous etc.
