A loaded heavy bag attached to the stearing is not desireble for controlling your bike quickly and effortlessly. BTW, what a bad place to put the lock. Dude anything that comes in contact with the stearing should be carefully thought out. Well whatever I can't believe I care enouth to post this.
The Crosstrail only has braze-ons for 1 bottle cage on the downtube. How did you manage to attach the other cages, esp. the one on your seat post? I'd be interested to add one to my Crosstrail too.
NIce bike, it should do your commutes well. One thing, you did not have to remove your rear fender stabilizing bars. You simply use the same eyelets as your rack only with longer bolts. It's done all the time and I'm surprised your LBS did that shotty install with the rubber band on your fender.

nice add-ons. Never crossed my mind to put road-styled fenders on a bike that looked more like an mtb. Looks good though!
