Thanks for posting this vid, sir. I actually had one of these as a kid, but to this day, have no clue how I came about getting it. I can't even remember what the game I had for it was like, only that I rarely played it, and like most things one owns as a kid, it ended up disappearing without a trace. (likely tossed out by the parents)
I found an old article i kept when this thing was coming out, and it compared it side by side with a gameboy and the article basically said the supervision sucks and has shitty games
I wonder if he has any homebrew systems, the kind that hacks make from systems, like the ben heck forums...some of those are bordering professional quality.
I had one of those! I can't believe i sold it! O_O such an idiot... had awesome games... I still got one game though... it was a Macross for nes ripoff
I kinda like this system, Yes, it has a poor screen and a crummy D-Pad, but it has quirky charm and the games (though I have have a few) are mostly passable, sometimes moderately enjoyable, though certainly not great. Well, at least it's better than the Tiger Game com, but then, what isn't?
hah i remember that one, my friends younger brother stole two of them and we played it till the cops showed up and took them back to the store, end of story ! :P
I remember a guy in school having one of these. His mom did Avon stuff and thats where he got it from. He said that it was only available through Avon, but I have no idea if thats true or not. I remember this thing being huge back then and its just as huge as I remember.
hmm woulsn't really call this a rare one... then all old ones are rare ones. This one was sold in most toystores in Denmark, it was just so bad that a lot of people have thrown them away. But there are still a lot around... I got two myself (and 2 more somewhere I can't seem to find).
Wow, my first ever handheld. I don't remember much about it however both me and my cousin had received one. I remember having a soccer game on it. Sadly I left it at his house and then 3 years later I didn't even remember I had one and tried it out and it wouldn't work because my aunt tried to fix it for some reason. : (
@illuminatioracle this sort of comment is what expose people. I mean, that clearly states you're jealous and not satisfied with your own body. If you shave yourself (i assume you're male) then you're a failure as a project-of-a-man. Go running back to your momma's skirt, little boy. Leave the internet for the grown ups like me and the guy in the video.
there is actually a version of this supervision that resambles the old game boy even more, i bought that one because it was so cheap when i was young (console + 2 games for 50 bucks) and the gameboy was like 100 dollar. I think they sold lots of them so not really rare imo
Great review, Gamester81! I can see this handheld had a lot of potential, even to the point that they released a TV-link (Yes, it was released, but very hard to find) but it seems that lack of 3rd party support and a really blurry screen caused it to fail.
OH MY GOD!!!! I had this when It was released in 1992, it was marketed like you said as the Supervision here in the UK. It was total rubbish to be honest but this certainly brought back some memories :)
I remember seeing these in circa 1994 Fingerhut catalogs. They just didn't look that appealing when positioned next to the Game Boy and Game Gear handhelds on the same page.
i remember that show on nick but...i somwhat find it odd that they would give that as a grand prize...normally most prizes given on nick shows were somthing that was in fad at that time...
also this console is very odd...as a child i always wanted a gameboy color *it had just came out* and i had many odd portable consoles that are now somwhat rare like the game and watch mario cement factory but i never knew this console existed...
Speaking of game shows and the Supervision, that handheld was also a prize in the Race Game on the premiere episode of the New Price is Right with Doug Davidson from 1994.
Oh my gosh, I remember this system. My friend ordered a couple of these for his video game store I used to work in. We could'nt sell any, even though it was half the price of the Gameboy.
Hey right on man it has been years since I have seen one of those. One of my friends had one and he let me borrow it one time. I played the hell out it! Way awesome video.
Nice coverage. I had one of these but sold it. Yeah, that thing was pretty big. But actually it was pretty rugged and tough for a handheld. They come up from time to time here in El Paso.
I miss my Supervision :'( It broke a couple of years ago after 20 years!! I was soo addicted to christball hahahaha

there was a Model 2 Supervision that was a lot smaller, removed the tilting mechanism, and made it look more like the Game Boy Pocket.
this was also a lot more popular in the UK
