Well, I see it like this. Everybody influenced everybody. Early Hawkwind played a Roger Waters track for example, but I agree they developed a a completely new style in music history......
Hawkwind band is the father of new psychedelic rock and the one of the best in 70s that made other bands to adore them.. i love and respect kraut but...Hawkwind made a new genre the "space rock"...i belive pink floyd influenced most of the kraut bands and not Hawks
This track sums up whats so special about this band. Irrespective of what other music appeals at the time , my roots come back to this. Dave Brock is a legend. I recently have had the pleasure of meeting Dave and Kris. Keep writing keep rocking. J
That is exactly why I am here! I saw on Wikipedia (looking at NEU! 's history) Hawkwind was inspired by them. Being a Hawkwind fan I had to check this out- pretty cool :)
@monovenaros It was a two-way street. Brock wrote the sleeve notes to NEU! 2 when it was first released in the UK, mentioning how much NEU! had influenced Hawkwind.
@Freqzine yes this song as clear NEU tendancies ... i don't think that Hawkwind is that often so clearly influenced by Krautrock bands... i think at the contrary that there's more Krautrock bands influenced by Hawkwind
@BohemianConspiracy you don't think they were very obviously influenced by krautrock? they had an ex-memeber of Amon Duul II on In Search of Space, can it get any more obvious than that? and what do you mean exactly by the term of comparison "more" exactly? do you mean there's more krautrock bands influenced by hawkwind than hawkwinds influenced by krautrock bands? you must be aware that such a comparison makes no logical sense.
@DCioccoloni i've said... not that much... it does not means not at all... but Hawkwind recorded before most Krautbands... ok except Amon Duull II and some rare others... but Amon Duul II became known in the UK with their '70 lp... Hawkwind were already on their way...i think that it's an exchange... i really love both bands... but Hawkwind remains at the top much longer... for me Amon Duull last exellent lp was in 1973 ...
Only just heard this again on here, after nearly 30 years, sold the album around 1980 to get some much needed dosh, still a great tune.
Used to bounce off the walls to these guys in the 70's, great memories.

@greeceed This track is from 1975 and a direct homage to Hallogallo by Neu, which was the opening track on their first album. Good shit.

Remember sitting in my middle room at home in the mid 70's with my headphones blasting my head off playing this, great memories of a time sadly lost.
