its cool that gary payton admires cena on this freestyle. he sounds like a new yorker that is cena but hes from boston. i love how he uses sports analogies.
Ive listened to john cena's album while i was impressed that he could rap i still dont believe its anything special. Sadly though its better than majority of the crap we have out now.
@450shahien There's no such thing like "dressing like a rapper", if hip hop is your lifestyle, you will wear wide jeans, long shorts, long t's, baseball jackets/caps and all that. You make it sound like he's a wannabe.
@redrum154 well it's your opinion an I respect that I dont wanna make an assumption of written or not written Kool Moe Dee states "There are two types of freestyle. There’s an old-school freestyle that’s basically rhymes that you’ve written that may not have anything to do with any subject or that goes all over the place. Then there’s freestyle where you come off the top of the head The sentiment coming off the top of the head rhymer had a built-in excuse to not be critiqued as hard.
@redrum154 An Big Daddy Kane says " in the ’80s when we said we wrote a freestyle rap, that meant that it was a rhyme that you wrote that was free of style that’s really what a freestyle is" if you wanna read more about it is in a book called How To Rap, an There's a God on the Mic. But what I wanna know what makes you assume he wrote it? Just curious not questioning you just wanting to know I hope it's not cause he's a wrestler.
@Kram808 i've rapped, produced, freestyled, for many years mayn...I suspected the whole thing was phony since Cena's on camera & has to maintain his WWE product (MEANING HE CAN'T "FAIL"), but that line was set up too perfect, not only 1 example but 2 OG baseball players known for their batting stroke...i mean if it was 1 comparison fine but the 2, IMO was clearly set up...you may not agree but its only because you don't see it from a true rapper's perspective...I can spot most if legit or fake
@redrum154 ahh Now I understand well thanks for giving a better explanation now. An by all means your entitled to your opinion. But I also dont wanna take credibility away "IF" it isnt rehearsed you know what I mean. I know John Cena is like a sports facts guru so I dont know because I take it as if I dont have conclusive evidence of things then its not a fact its just a assumption cuz I seen him fail before on wwe controversial tv show he stuttered but came up with another line on the spot haha
@Kram808 See though, Im sure he had something prepared for whenever he went on an interview. Then again, just about every rapper prepares to spit for just about any occasion. The delivery was still pretty good. The mathematics were decent, not great, and he's really a metaphorical rapper. He's not amazing or great by any means, he's kind of basic but he isnt terrible. Just saying
@MoufoftheSouf Exactly!! John Cena is a wrestler 1st he just does it for a hobby an he's pretty good! Better than some people give him credit for but yeah as you said Cena is alright.
I don't get how these people are getting this information about Cena getting stopped by the FCC...if you got a link to prove it I'll believe you, otherwise Vince probably wanted to pgnize his company until hedecides to go back to violence and cursing when the kids get somewhat older.
oh shut up and get lost, cena is a talented wrestler, actor and musician, if he wasnt a talented wrestler, he wouldnt be kicked of wwe, if he wasnt a good actor he wouldnt have been able to make a second movie after his first movie sucked and he wouldnt be on that psych show either, and if he wasnt a good musician, he would've sold zero ablums instead of 100,000 ablums,
it should change!!! back to at least when he used to rap all the time. Basic Thuganomics is waaaay better than The Time is Now. Speaking of which when he won the wwe title, thats when he started to stop rapping and that was back in 05!
I don't think he's gonna ra anymore because on his dvd he said he never wanted to start the rap gimmick in the first place... but it would be nice to see again
@jaz998 i loved gary payton with the supersonics im from washington, its cool to see him in nate dogg and e-40 videos and now on the best damn sports show with cena.
cena still raps proof is tht i met him in autograph signing in london england last year promoting the royal rumble at the spurs and arsenal match and i asked him to do a rap on the arsenal team the guy atchually did a rap insulting them it was damn good lol
Yes Very serious. He freestyled and the FCC was getting told Cena was sayin Contreversial stuff so they told WWE to fix it and they wanted Cena to write his rap show it to the writers get it approved and then do it on t.v. but he never could remember wat he wrote so he went off the head still so conflict started so he sayed let me do it my way or I won't do it at all so he rapped lesser in 2004 and jus stoped in 2005.

@redrum154 No it wasn't. It was a clear freestyle. He referenced every guy on the panel and didn't use his normal rap voice. It's a gift.
