  • Look at the absurd band listening. I am sure the same person who was digging Doris Day, Patti Page and Stonewall Jackson is really going to enjoy Shocking Blue, Marmalade and Sly and the Family Stone.

    That would be like the US compiling a collection of German Popular Music including Krautrock, Schlager and whatever catagory James Last fell into.

  • If I remember right, this record was withdrawn from the German market by K-tel, because Arcade Records published a 2-LP-Set with almost the same playlist contemporaneously, also with songs only (or at least mostly) from the CBS archive. 40 Golden Hits was the title, I think.

  • @thatmuse76 I thought that was rather odd too. It's almost like "for the kids we have Sly and the Family Stone and for the parents her is Patti Page and Doris Day".

  • I thought this type of music would had been killed off by the hippie revolution! By the late 1980s though, this type of music was ancient history.
